A quick summary of the interview (it was very short with Marina)
- BBC Radio 2 will be playing Baby every day next week! Get that hit!
- Marina asked Jack if she could join one of Clean Bandit's writing sessions and they wrote 'Baby'. They were considering giving it to someone else, but Marina and Clean Bandit loved it so much, they kept it.
 
Also the acoustic version of Baby was brilliant

The album does sound like FROOT 2.0 ...I thought maybe she was going to make more generic chart sounding songs like baby. I’m here for it though. I think she should makes songs with fresh production, lots of instrumentation much like what Lana is doing. She’s got the brains and the writing capabilities to do better than basic pop.

I'm very happy with Troye being the feature (he's better than some random rapper guy) and I really think you guys should wait to hear the song with him
Like, I understand some of you don't like him or even care about the music he does, but if 1999 had not been leaked no one would have any idea of what the song is like
 
I'm really hyped for the song AND the music video

So, who's leaking the solo demo of 1999 a week after the official release 

For some reason, the part where she says "I'm an emotional machiiiineee" reminds me of Hermit the Frog... I think it's something about those really bizarre, high-pitched vocals that does it for me. The vocals even sort of has a Mowgli's Road vibe, so I'm definitely seeing where TFJ comparisons are coming from.
 
It's like the vocals of TFJ, the production/poppy sound of EH and the lyrical content of FROOT.
 
Excited to hear the full song, especially since the production & vocals sound so good! 
 
Plus, remember that this is not the lead single (or potentially even a single at all) so it's probably not the best song on the album. She said she just wanted to perform it because she co-wrote it with Broods.

why y'all so mean with troye he's such a cute guy and cool artist

I went to his concert when he came to Spain in 2016 and trust me when I say that the boy can sing.
 
and one of the very few male singers in the industry that are really worth it.

i'm SO happy the collab is troye and not some trendy rat like cardi b or whatever. guess i'll be enjoying the single happily, i'm sorry y'all can't relate 

I really don't understand the meltdowns over Troye, I've never listened to him but like....he really doesn't seem worth getting upset over lol.

cardi doesn't fit in any song she's bad even in her own songs
