  1. nutella and bananas sound disgusting but you do you
  2. we couldn't have "did you know that there's a tunnel under ocean boulevard?" without lana, but we also couldn't have it without jon batiste, judah smith, jack antonoff, drew erickson, tommy genesis, father john misty, RIOPY, or SYML which were all a result of lana bringing them all together, which couldn't have happened if lana didn't know them in the first place, so we couldn't have it without every moment that led up to lana meeting all of these people and building up friendships with them, but what if lana didn't meet these people? what if they never existed? we wouldn't have the album without lana's parents, and everybody else's parents or grandparents, or great-grandparents, or great-great-grandparents, or great-great-great-grandparents, if you go back far enough, everybody's parents will lead back to the same woman, the mitochondrial eve, the woman we're likely all descendants from, we are all technically related to lana and all of her collaborators and friends to some level, we are all extensions of lana and this entirely unique group of collaborators, our distant ancestors who are more likely to be distant ancestors of lana and her friends contributed by simply having children, every moment in human history may have led up to the creation of "did you know that there's a tunnel under ocean boulevard?", but strangely enough, if our very distant ancestor did something slightly different, for example, give birth two days before, or live in a different location, we may have had a differently album entirely, but because our ancestors, and because lana and her friends did exactly what they did, we actually couldn't have "pearl watch me on ring a bell psycho lifeguard"
  3. /r/lanadelrey when they listen to motel 6 and hear her say "chuck" and when they watch tropico and see charlie
  4. some of her "stans" just want her to make sexy bops and not say anything vulnerable/of importance and it shows, they don't care about her personal experiences as a woman or even a person, it's pretty aggravating to see, she's not just a mindless machine who's only purpose is to make songs from them to dance to, her legacy will be solidified by songs such as fingertips
  5. "that fuck ass baby" that is very nasty and disrespectful, and the fact that 25 people upvoted that...
  6. i love that church picture as well, it looks like something beautiful and ominous that you would see in a vivid dream, it has that unconscious, liminal quality...
  7. i feel like this concept would've worked so much better if they were just regular products and weren't edible, gourmands are a lot more popular nowadays, but in 2005, i can imagine scents that smell like cake and desserts would've been more polarizing/different from the typical floral/fruity/fresh perfumes (even though pink sugar by aquolina and fantasy by britney spears came out during the 2000s and they're very sweet, candy-like fragrances)
  8. i'm honestly not entirely convinced that she isn't saying this
  9. my first bob dylan song @burthday kake i hope you're proud
  10. i hope lana and jon batiste keep working together, candy necklace is most definitely a new all-time favorite of mine, i hope the next album sounds like that, haunting, meditative, sardonic, harrowing, introspective, abstract, yet bright
  11. i can't understand what was going through that reviewer's mind when they listened to candy necklace and thought "hmm, yep, this is a glitch-pop song!"
  12. ALSO, lana insists that she wasn't aware of the story of the woman who jumped off the hollywood sign but i kinda feel like she did and she didn't want to admit that she knew about it/referenced it because at the time she was trying to steer away from her "dark" image because of all the criticism she got for it, i'm glad she's not afraid to be honest and vulnerable again
  13. also, all of this discussion is reminding me of when people thought she was going to recreate slyvia plath's suicide in a potential HIADTFAWLMTH-BIHI music video during the NFR pre-release
  14. not to mention the references to the manson family in heroin, she's always referenced dark, tragic events and figures, this really isn't anything new
