Norman Fucking Rockwell - Pre-Release Thread

So... We know the album is 13 tracks (potentially 14 if Doin Time is included)... Track 1, should be Norman Fucking Rockwell, since she alternates between Track 1 and Track 2 for the title track each album... Meaning the first half of the album is likely to be the piano ballads. Could Venice Bitch be mid-album (Track 6 or Track 7)? Transitioning from ballads into some of the more experimental and surf rock elements? Also, it was confirmed that the latter half was more surf and rock influenced, we know she also likes to close albums with a cover, meaning Doin Time could be the last song on the record. I imagine that You Don't Have To, How To Disappear and Hope Is A Dangerous Thing... will all feature on the first half of the album. Then Mariners Apartment Complex, In Your Car and Cinnamon at the back end. I know we only have a snippet of In Your Car but I believe it will develop into something more experimental. Unsure where Happiness... will sit, either first half or very early second half? -

I just wanna see the tracklist, honestly. Also, do we think Happiness Is A Butterfly will make the final cut? It seems kinda strange that they never dropped the song (considering the majority is on insta and there's a music video). Cos like I don't see that being the next single and the album is coming next month... -

I think they might put the title on a sticker or something? Or maybe have a sticker covering the text? (Kinda like when Kesha had a sticker over her ass on the Rainbow cover) -

Isn't this exactly what happened with Born To Die though... -

So... The only tracklist I'm accepting has a song with the abbreviation DGD. That is one Jack teased and therefore it should be on the album? Also as mentioned we know NFR will be track 1 or 2. -

I really want the artwork and tracklist to leak, she doesn't deserve to do a special announcement when she's ready. She needs a good shake. -

Hope Is A Dangerous Thing... 13. How To Disappear (Track 4 could be Doin Time and then Track 5 a new song, making the album 14 tracks) -

Exactly every era has multiple promo singles: Born To Die: Video Games, Blue Jeans, Born To Die, Off To The Races and Carmen Paradise: Blue Velvet, Ride and Burning Desire Ultraviolence: West Coast, Shades Of Cool, Ultraviolence and Brooklyn Baby Honeymoon: High By The Beach, Music To Watch Boys To, Terrence Loves You and Honeymoon Lust For Life: Love, Lust For Life, Coachella, Summer Bummer and Groupie Love Norman Fucking Rockwell: Mariners Apartment Complex, Venice Bitch and Hope Is A Dangerous Thing... I think it's safe to assume we'll get another song with the pre-order, her label will want some buzz, I imagine the title track or Happiness... flashbacks to "Yosemite has been retitled to Get Free" -

Imagine if she just drops her best album cover to date, shot by Steven. Then debuts a shortfilm to accompany the album (the bigger project Chuck teased last year)... A few exciting vinyl variants and she can have all my money. -

I had a dream that she said Cinnamon was the last track on the album, also she read a poem and said it was page 13 on the album... I'm guessing in my dream the poetry book was like a hardback CD book style case and the album was included. -
Hmmm I think it's unlikely, if I remember correctly Sucker was getting a worldwide release in October 2014, it was then delayed to December cos of Boom Clap's success. It was released in December in the US but then delayed in the UK and Europe cos of the new version of Doing It (with Rita Ora), and I think they just tacked on So Over You and Red Balloon as bonus tracks as a way of making the delay seem more worthwhile considering it was released 2 months prior in America... The Japanese versions of the singles seemed last minute too, cos originally SuperLove was the bonus track. Again like the UK/European edition I think they tried to make that edition more special to make up for the delay. By the look of things, Charli is getting a worldwide release in September and the only exclusive edition is Japan... But the bonus track(s) is unconfirmed.

I'd love her to drop a double A-side 2099 / White Mercedes both with music videos, one bop and one more of a sad song.
-
Well it's her highest charting single here in the UK since Doing It... There was a couple of interviews earlier this year in which 1999 was referred to as a stand-alone single. So I'm guessing it's the label that want it on the album. It makes sense cos it's probably her most known song in the GP since Boom Clap.
-
At this stage, I'd really wished Charli has dropped 1999 and Blame It On Your Love as monthly drops in 2018 and then launched the album campaign with Gone. I understand that 1999 is on there cos of the success it had but I'd have rather them 2 singles be bonus tracks.

So... re-reading that Elle interview, I really do believe the couple of tracks that she was gonna release are Doin Time and Don't Call Me Angel (it makes sense that in April she knew when these songs would have to be released). Especially considering she hasn't mentioned any other song titles or desire to release a particular song. She also talks about the poetry book and says she's hoping to have it done and out in 6 months or so, so that takes us to October (I know people thought she'd forgotten about it haha). She said there is no plan and no plan for a mega record launch, so I do believe we could just see this being announced a week beforehand on her insta... Like a photo of the album cover and her being like "record out next week". Which makes me think we ain't getting special variants or box sets etc. I imagine we'll get CD and LP for release and maybe UO or somewhere will do an exclusive later in the year. I don't think we'll get a lead single at all, like I think Mariners Apartment Complex acts as the first single. I think the Happiness... video will be recycled for like another visual or will just be scrapped. -

I imagine it'll be a Summer Bummer / Groupie Love double A-side release when she announces the pre-order? There was also speculation that Doin Time and the Charlie's Angel song are the 2 songs she was referring to? -
Better Than Your Last Thing, Lightning Bolts and I'm A Dream (demo or original) I believe... not 100% sure though.
-
I'm kinda surprised (and disappointed) that Charli isn't being put out on cassette, like it's the trend now and the fact Number 1 Angel / Pop 2 saw a cassette tape release.

I'd love her to do some really exciting merchandise but it's just realistic this era... Norman Fucking Rockwell deluxe box set (Norman Fucking Rockwell exclusive orange coloured LP, Norman Fucking Rockwell CD, bound photo book with never before seen photos, lyrics and extracts of Lana's poetry, Doin Time 7" picture disc single) Norman Fucking Rockwell collector's edition picture disc LP Norman Fucking Rockwell cassette tape (randomly selected, available in 3 colours; orange, salmon and green) Norman Fucking Rockwell online exclusive green coloured LP Mariners Apartment Complex / Venice Bitch 7" single (limited edition yellow coloured vinyl single) Mariners Apartment Complex / Venice Bitch cassette tape (yellow coloured cassette tape) Hey Blue Baby / I Must Be So Stupid For Being So Happy 7" single (limited edition blue coloured vinyl single) She could still do bundles with t-shirts, lithographs and the poetry book. -
I think Atlantic are definitely the reason the album was condensed, also the reason 1999 was included on the final tracklist after she said it was a standalone single in many interviews this year... They want her to be commercial and appealing to the GP. I'm grateful we got 15 songs in the end. However, this is Charli, she confirmed she's thinking about the next project and that fact that she keeps revisiting the 24hr album means the Charli outtakes with Rina and Grimes etc (if they don't leak) may be released or reworked for something else.

I mean she didn't lie when it comes to Girls Night Out and No Angel... Bounce can you hear us? I do believe that there's hope for Bounce, I would like it to be Japanese bonus track on the upcoming album. She tweeted that in 2018 and we know that's when she started recording songs that have made it on to the album...
