  1. Sadly I am only willing to entertain one of these collaborations and that is Marina - and by entertain I mean tolerate. Marina is obviously a good friend of hers but sonically and aesthetically I don't see them collaborating effectively at all (perhaps writing). Again artists like Melanie Martinez, Lil Peep and Lil Uzi Vert would only damage her artistry further. She is at a very different place in her career and even a collaboration with Machine Gun Kelly feels beneath her and her music. If she wanted to collaborate with a rapper it would have to be A$AP Rocky purely because there's a natural chemistry between them and their sounds compliment one another.
  2. I think as an artist she is quite self-conflicting... She built up the character of Lana Del Rey (Ray pre-2011) and personified her music to give us this music she described as "hollywood sadcore", everything was exaggerated and at times thrilling - living up to her gangster Nancy Sinatra persona. However she slowly started to dismantle the brand she had created and shifted (I believe this began with Honeymoon) into a more sophisticated and almost surreal soundscape - leaving behind the Bonnie and Clyde ideology and replacing the harsher hip-hop influences with softer and more subtle trap instrumentation; she mastered this with High By The Beach and The Blackest Day. And it is at this time that I believe she should've began working with artists like Stevie Nicks and Sean Ono Lennon if she had the desire to collaborate - they were much more fitting to the aesthetic she was trying to present. And I believe that Lust For Life was going to follow in the footsteps of Honeymoon and explore this new found direction - however for some reason she brought back the hip-hop influences and Born To Die style production (especially White Mustang and Summer Bummer) and then began collaborating with rappers. Personally, it felt like a step backwards and I don't know whether she herself just felt she needed to work with these people, because she'd always wanted to, or if instead it was an attempt or desire to win back fans after the negativity towards Honeymoon. Basically, it's strange to me that once again she may have that desire to stop progressing and developing her artistry and instead fall back on the hip-hop/trap records and collaborate with rappers - a style that ultimately doesn't feel genuine to the Lana Del Rey of 2018.
  3. I think it's fair to show concern, considering how Lust For Life panned out (her last record) - she had a very clear vision and was very particular about how the record would have an acoustic and folk feel... Repeatedly mentioning songs like Yosemite and Tomorrow Never Came as blueprints for the project. Then suddenly half of the album's production was trap or at least trap influenced and had numerous and often unnecessary collaborations. So when she announced Mariners Apartment Complex and Venice Bitch and described the album as stripped and folk with surf rock elements - but then is in the studio with a rapper like Machine Gun Kelly and was spotted earlier in the process with Wiz Khalifa, then I think it's fair to show concern and be prepared that the album may have changed in direction - but it may not have. The snippets we have received thus far have been stellar and I'm excited to hear those songs in full, however again it is okay to be uncertain or cautious after the number of snippets and songs that were teased and ultimately scrapped during the Lust For Life era. I agree that we should trust Lana's instincts and wait til the body of work is released in full until we dismiss it - however I think it would be more comforting or reassuring had there been a cohesive and classic Lana preceding this release. I myself am guilty of overreacting and assuming the album will be poor compared to her earlier efforts and I know now I shouldn't have been so hasty. We'll have to wait and see.
  4. Lana's songs haven't been tumblr since like BTD / Paradise - I like her uptempo tracks too, OTTR, FK and SB (even if lyrically it's weak). I would welcome trap Lana, as long as she collaborated with artists that suited her aesthetic (are we forgetting she built her career on a character/brand?) and as long as the beats were well produced and not like Coachella
  5. Also the NFR tour better have some of these songs... Born To Die, Off To The Races, Blue Jeans, Video Games, Ride, Yayo, Young & Beautiful, Shades Of Cool, West Coast, Pretty When You Cry, Old Money, Florida Kilos, Honeymoon, Music To Watch Boys To, High By The Beach, Freak, The Blackest Day, 13 Beaches, Cherry, Mariners Apartment Complex, Venice Bitch and Cinammon.
  6. I know right - strange how her least cohesive work to date is her only record to have collabs though

So excited for the possibility of a solo tour! Like for real, an album must be coming - she already said 1999 is the first single (from unknown) and if she plans to tour solo next year, I'm expecting new material... Especially if she's trying to appeal to the GP. She probably just doesn't want to confirm or talk about the album yet after the XCX World scenario. My dream setlist for a solo tour would be (I included experimental and mainstream tracks) 01 Unlock It 02 Focus 03 3am (Pull Up) 04 Doing It 05 No Angel 06 Boys 07 What I Like 08 Roll With Me 09 Delicious 10 I Got It 11 Dirty Sexy Money 12 1999 13 Vroom Vroom 14 Out Of My Head 15 Track 10 16 Dreamer 17 5 In The Morning 18 Take My Hand 19 Lipgloss 20 Girls Night Out 21 After The Afterparty 22 Boom Clap

Genuinely don't know they're gonna make this different to POM? Larry already confirmed that it's hits ("you'll know every song") - so that only leaves a handful of singles that she hasn't performed tirelessly since 2013. Sometimes, Born To Make You Happy, From The Bottom Of My Broken Heart, Don't Let Me Be The Last To Know, Overprotected, I'm Not A Girl, Outrageous, My Prerogative, Someday (I Will Understand), Radar, Hold It Against Me and Criminal And none of those new possibilities excite me other than My Prerogative and Hold It Against Me...
  10. The original version of Ultraviolence (pre-Dan) just to compare...
  11. For real though, if she pulls another stunt like Lust For Life I'm unstanning I knew the album should've come out this month or next. She's bored and she's over it - she's in the studio with MGK and going to Drake concerts... She better not.

I don't think a mixtape is coming at all, it would kill the hype of 1999 and the upcoming project. I think it's likely that she's just teasing what's to come after the more mainstream / label influenced release. Like a little heads up that she's making / releasing something very on trend and appealing to the public but also that she is still experimental and has many artists she intends to collaborate with in the future... Or she might just be sharing her dream collabs in hopes of getting to work with them or to see fans reactions and thoughts to who she should work with.

West Hollywood giving me Melodrama vibes
  15. I mean it's not gonna be... But if you wanna believe go ahead aha. Just be prepared to be disappointed.
  16. I really want some interludes on this record, spoken word (maybe of her poetry) and singing (like Stargirl).

    Charli XCX

Sucker era Charli jumped out with that fashion question... Her style was something else from 2014 to 2015 - the 90s high school aesthetic into the lingerie / night gown wear.
  18. Personally I think she always teases / releases just the right amount of music beforehand - enough to give as an overall vision of the project but still not enough so we're bored when we hear the album in full (if that makes sense ). Also just realised that she does let us hear a lot of different tracks before an album release, more than most artists (not complaining - just an observation). Plus the insta snippets only really started in the LFL era. BTD: Video Games, Blue Jeans, Diet Mountain Dew, Lolita, Born To Die, Off To The Races and Carmen Paradise: Yayo, Blue Velvet and Ride Ultraviolence: West Coast, Shades Of Cool, Ultraviolence and Brooklyn Baby. Honeymoon: Honeymoon, High By The Beach, Terrence Loves You, Freak and Music To Watch Boys To LFL: Love, Lust For Life, White Mustang, Coachella, Summer Bummer, Groupie Love and Change NFR: Happiness Is A Butterfly, Mariners Apartment Complex, Venice Bitch, How To Disappear and Cinammon

Didn't she do Famous / Drop That Kitty at the AMAs in 2015?
  20. Cinammon confirmed this for me! It's like a hybrid of MTWBT and Cherry. I'm in love!
  21. Unpopular opinion, but I loved the Ultraviolence alternate artwork and wouldn't mind Lana not being on the cover art... I made a mock up but don't know how to post images
  22. I believe so, this and that polaroid of Lana on the bank (used in her Beats interview).

    Charli XCX

Who actually knows? Like for real. Charli said she didn't know what the songs she had written were for... So she's still unsure about releasing an album. But then on Beats 1 she said that 1999 was the first single, suggesting a project was coming. I'm preparing for more singles or maybe an EP (anything more is a bonus).
  24. But why? We pretty much heard the whole song on insta... She said it was an intro. Like it's nice but if she were gonna include a LFL outtake I'd rather have Yosemite (a song we've never heard and one that Lana loved). Yes! I can't have another Chuck cover, like yeah she's good for singles but not albums. I'd be happy with Steven or Neil (or Nicole - I know it's not gonna happen).
