Did Adele Copy Lana's 'Paradise' Wrist Tattoo?
FFXSoul91 replied to Trash Magic's topic in Latest News
I want to hear her campy rendition of Born to Die. -
Honeymoon is still fresh to me, but I do have a few ideas as to what I personally would like to her from Lana on a future record... Overall, I'd have to say a more aggressive sound. If I were to pick a song from each of her albums so far to influence a new album, I would say this: A.K.A: "Mermaid Motel." Lana's sexuality at its peak. It's a stripper song, but it's also very unique and a bit creepy sounding. I love the way the song flows over the steady drum line. I honestly cannot say I've heard anything else like it. BTD: "Off to the Races." Musically, this song always slaps you, especially compared to the rest of her discography. The synths wail and the percussion hits hard. Paradise: "Cola." Because how much more blunt can you get than an opening line about your pussy? I love explicit Lana. Ultraviolence: "West Coast." Basically I just need more psychedelic rock anthems from the Narco-Swing Queen. This is still my favorite Lana song. The guitars are perfect and Lana's slow, eerie vocals over the changing tempo are unmatched, in my opinion. Honeymoon: "High by the Beach." Lana's personality here is why this song is so good to me. She may still be a victim in the song, but she is a victim who has had enough and I love it. She's honest and open and more lyrically assertive than ever before.

Hey! At least they took the time to properly separate the tracks. They could have just slapped the version with Freak fading into Art Deco on the vinyl, put in a gap, and let it sound awkward as hell. There's probably a reason for why the tracklist in the order it is. -

There are gaps between the first 4 songs. God Knows I Tried through Art Deco are all connected. Then there is a gap between that and Burnt Norton. Burnt Norton through Salvatore are connected. The last 4 tracks all have gaps. -
She had a playlist with a cover called Chimera on Soundcloud and I guess I just assumed it was an EP. I have the two songs that were on there in my iTunes. Did I ever give you a link to my masterpost?

I'm hoping we get lucky and they're as readily available as the Ultraviolence ones were. -
So awesome, guys! I'm glad you got to meet her! I'm really interested in this "Chimera" business because she had a partial EP up with that title a little over a year ago and it had the songs "Fall Out" and "Black Hole" on it. Do you know if either of those were played?

Honeymoon: 9/10Love the powerful strings and the swaying harmonies. The theme of escapism is great. I definitely think it sets the stage well for the album ahead-- A lush opening track for a very lush album. Music to Watch Boys to: 9/10This song is sensual and creeping. It gives me a sort of stalker vibe. It's seductive and dangerous, much like a siren. Terrence Loves You: 9/10I feel like Lana is singing to an alien lover here because of the high pitched, space-like noises that appear throughout the track and the sound of the melody, which for some reason reminds me a bit of the main theme of E.T. Overall, the song is an emotional high-point for the album with soaring vocals and a lovely piano-based instrumental. God Knows I Tried: 8/10This song has a great, classic '60s western blues feel to it. The vocals are very lovely, but I do get tired of the repetition of the song title towards the end of the song. High by the Beach: 10/10I still really love the sound of this song. There's a degree of sass and venom that is only really found here on the album. The trap sound over the dreamy vocals and funeral procession-esque synths is unique. Freak: 10/10The sexiest song on the record. The guitars during the chorus are excellent and the overall production is just fabulous. Art Deco: 9/10This song has the best blend of trap and jazz on the album. The instrumental is absolutely beautiful and interesting. Of all the songs on the album, I feel like this one calls back to Born to Die the most. Burnt Norton (Interlude): 8/10The dream-like sounds and Lana's beautiful speaking voice reciting T.S. Eliot's poem make for an excellent interlude. Religion: 10/10The beat of this song is great and the lyrics are beautiful. I feel like Lana is singing about her relationship with music here. This is by far my most unexpected favorite. Salvatore: 10/10I love the Italian sound of the instrumental and Lana's heavenly vocals as they swirl over the melody. The lyrics are a bit strange, but it just makes the song seem more mysterious. Someone here (I don't recall who) said it sounds a bit like Lolita's older, more sophisticated sister and I think that description is perfect. The Blackest Day: 10/10This song has a lot going on and it utilizes it all well. The tale of heartbreak proceeds with a tone of hopelessness and then shifts gears with a more assertive sound once you reach the "deeper and deeper..." section of the song. It reminds me a bit of Summertime Sadness with a more edgy, rocky vibe. 24: 9/10A very jazzy, Bond theme sounding song. I love the melody of the chorus and how it progresses in intensity towards the end of the song. Swan Song: 9/10Here the album returns to the theme of escapism that was brought about in the opening track. I love the sample of High by the Beach at the beginning. The orchestra is also great here. Dont Let Me Be Misunderstood: 8/10This is definitely the weakest track on the album, but it works well as a closing track and sounds almost like a plea from Lana to whoever is listening. The synths and the subtle production are very nice. Overall: 9/10 -

Good Lord. Religion is so much better in CDQ. It was one of my least favorites when I heard it in the original recordings, but now it's shaping up to be one of my favorites on the album. -
