  1. I haven't been on here in forever but I thought I would share this~ so i was reading Tristessa by Jack Kerouac the other day and, being an LDR fan, one particular passage jumped out at me... so i know born to die is a common phrase, but we know how lana loves the beat generation and we know how she loves her literary allusions , so I feel like this book might have inspired BTD (song and/or album, or just the title). just cause of the way that one phrase was emphasized in that chapter. idk
  2. i mostly just listen in my car whenever im driving anywhere (in order cause its on a cd) and just other random times, sometimes on shuffle sometimes not. hopefully i can get the vinyl soon so i can listen that way too..

    Grimes

Omfg ok the new song is so different.... I love it but she's really going in a different direction this time. also, new album next year (but also because i thought it was coming this fall)
  5. first of all can we all not try to "diagnose" her based on a few words she's said in an interview it's clear that she's lived a very eventful life and I think the fame is still very surreal for her. just a few years ago she was singing in bars and making music on her laptop, suddenly she's living in a mansion in LA. I don't think she sees herself as a celebrity, she sees herself as an ordinary person and when you see yourself like that , criticism can be very hard to take. What she said about death was pretty alarming but I'm not worried about anything drastic happening. in my opinion she didn't mean it in a "I wanna kms" way, she meant it as more like "I wish I didn't live this type of life, I'd rather be dead". she idolizes people who took their life early and she seems to like the idea of dying young, but when it comes down to it, death is not beautiful, it's serious and tragic and I don't think she would do that. the worst I can see happening is that she stops making music for the public

    Lily Allen

is this all the demos that she released? i'd love it if you DMed them to me
  10. -kanye (i dont like him but him and lana would be ) -xxyyxx (like how she did it) -angel haze bonus: paris hilton
  11. it honestly sounds like it is lorde but then again I doubt lana would write a diss track about a 17 year old, I feel like lordes criticism just flew over Lana's head. but I can't think of any other successful artist that's like Lana I'm hoping it's about cher
  12. no i agree with you, women can depend on men, please men, etc and still be feminist but a lot of other feminists don't think that and that's why they attack lana's lyrics, thats why i gave those examples. in my opinion lana is both dependent and independent in different ways people are setting their own standards for an ideal feminist and it's getting ridiculous. I saw a post that was like "whys everyone shocked that lana isnt a femnist, she idolizes lolita and sings about getting hit" like x10000000 idc how "uneducated" about it she may seem, i think lanas definition of a feminist summed it up, a woman who feels free to do what she wants. If it's ironic to agree with lana on her definition of feminism so be it
  13. ok while we're on the topic of feminism, everybody (outside the fanbase) has been saying that her lyrics are always antifeminist and the themes are always about her depending on men etc BUT i think it's pretty apparent in some other lyrics that she does believe in female empowerment. most obvious example would be the bridge of the TIWMUG demo ("this is what makes us girls now baby its why we rule the world now baby") other examples would be in driving in cars with boys, kinda outta luck, she's not me... that's just my opinion she's not anti feminist by any means
  14. she'll probably sing about it ?? hopefully yeah that part surprised me because like she said in other interviews, she keeps her personal life private and now all the sudden she's talking about some kind of chronic illness?? i hope she doesnt have some kind of britney spears type breakdown
  15. maybe reporters should just stop asking her about feminism?? oh wait, they want controversy so their articles get more views or whatever. i don't think it's a big deal that she's not interested in feminism. that doesn't mean she doesn't believe women deserve equal rights. it means she's more interested in other things, just like she said, and I don't see a problem with that. jfc
