Honeymoon - Post-Release Discussion Thread + Poll
Poison Ivy replied to annedauphine's topic in Post-Release Threads
I know I haven't posted here in very long but I actually love the new album! More than UV for sure, I've been listening to it like every day Salvatore & Blackest Day are just so beautiful but the whole album has such an amazing mood, I'm hooked. -
Haha that was almost like 2 years ago, now I'm all about kpop I'm excited for CL's American debut too

There was a time when I got Lana, but I feel like I haven't any more for a long time. She keeps doing stupider and stupider shit with no artistic meaning whatsoever. Manson is old and bored and absinthe probably took some of his rational thinking, but at least at her age he was doing some really good stuff.

1. Every time she says metaphysics I'm more and more confused with what she thinks it means. 2. I really love the whole album from beginning to end (I could take or leave Sad Girl/Pretty When I Cry/Is This Happiness but they work) except Fucked My Way To The Top or w/e I don't even have it on my computer because it's so inane.

Lana Del Rey Defends Herself Against 'The Guardian' Controversy
Poison Ivy replied to Sitar's topic in New Interviews
Don't ever change pls -
Haha aw. I'm just surprised that she's talking about Jesuits/theology people teaching philosophy, that's surely a biased angle to look at stuff. I see the tiny link with science because advancement in science could 'solve' (maybe) some philosophical issues but it's still such a weird answer.
-
what on earth did she study lol, maybe you Americans do metaphysics completely differently ...
-
She sounds depressed, hope she'll talk to a therapist or something rather than sink in ~artistic misery~ . I'm grateful for the music and the beautiful lyrics, but it's annoying that she glamorizes wrong things so much. There's nothing glamorous about cheating, although with her amount of respect for [other] women I'm not even surprised.

I expected to hate Lana's version because I knew Nina's, but I think she did a really good job. I like both, Lana put a different spin on it sort of.

o rly I didn't notice that 90% of her discography is about men even if she's more interesting than all of them -
Randomly hummed this all day, it's such a pretty song. I didn't realize it from the first listen but I love it, really catchy too.
-
Old Money!!!! The others didn't really stand out to me but I'm sure they'll be great, the overall sound is awesome (not sure if I'm feeling the Nina Simone cover tho)
-
I reaaaaally like the sound of it
-
What, really??

Everyone should watch the music video when it comes out, CL is in it (aka the hot bitch in my dp, check her out). Curious about the song too, I like Psy's music.
-
She sounds like she lost her marbles a bit tbh, there's no one running around with 'her' style and being famous for it.

I understand that people are being ridiculous in this thread all while being serious, but that was sarcasm aka pointing out the same thing as you. Of course the society you're in & the way you're treated in it limits or expands your freedom. That's why it's so funny sad how many people act like feminism is some boring abstract concept floating around, completely separated from their existence.
-
MAN, I wonder why. Freedom obviously comes only from within and the society you live in makes no difference in your amount of freedom. Silly feminists. god I need to stop looking at this thread
-
yea lol why would everyone care about equality, overrated tbh

And I'm like, god Lana, feminism is an 'interesting concept' because women don't feel free enough to do whatever they want in any society. She always sounds so ignorant whenever feminism is brought up, but now even more than usual.

"Ultraviolence" to premier tomorrow on BBC Radio 1 with Zane Lowe!
Poison Ivy replied to TIARNZUS's topic in Latest News
I don't think she means it literally (am I saying something obvious? probably lol). I mean it just sounds like being with him was a growing experience for her altho his ways were ~~~ultraviolent~~~ I'm not sure about the song, I love the sound of it, I only understand half of what she's saying - I see there's a lot of guessing going on in the lyrics thread . I really like the spoken part, she sounds so sweet and idk vulnerable. Probably gonna grow on me, the borrowed 'he hit me and it felt like a kiss' is a bit ehh... -
I feel like all the three songs I've heard are about the same thing and it's really boring to me. I'm aware a lot of BTD was about love too, but it was lyrically deeper and I was a newer fan back then anyway, if she never had AKA/the unreleased tracks I would've gotten over it with btd alone. I want to hear more songs in the same vein as Ride, Carmen, Disco, Jump, Bad Disease etc - she really has the capability to explore such deep subjects, I'd hate if she was forever stuck on 'I really love that guy man, I really do' . I guess it just got to me because all I heard on Ultraviolence so far was this, it's not like I mind her love songs or anything - a lot of my favorites are technically love songs but also more lyrically complex. I'm sure she'll have all types of songs on UV tho
