  1. I can barely hear her, how can you guys get the feel of the song out of that instagram thing? I mean I listened to it twice carefully and I still have no opinion bc it could go so many ways
  2. you know the whole song endorses 'bad' things I mean drinking and driving is followed by overdosing, dying and she sings "money is the reason we exist"
  3. look she's biting on a cigarette it's ultraviolent man Lana's bringing grunge to the West Coast. Hope the music is better than the visuals
  4. just his gross personality. I srsly don't get Lana and her taste in people, I understand she has a puppy-in-need-of-approval gene but at a certain point the people you associate with describe what kind of person you are.
  5. Tbh I just severely dislike Bradley and did so since I first saw BTD when I didn't even know anything about Lana, let alone him. I don't think I'll enjoy this as much with him in it, but I'll try to focus on Lana being an ocean goddess, she's looking so gorgeous and happy in these pics
  6. oh I saw some of these on tumblr and thought she decided to take a swim fully clothed & w make up on, this makes much more sense God she's hot, messy slightly wet hair never looked so good on anyone else. Is that the loser dude from BTD/BJ though? ugh
  7. midnite dancer gf, crooked cop
  8. Don't worry, at the concert I've been to people who were at the front of the queue went to pick up their tickets then took their place back in the queue, there was no question about it I mean this was London, but I'm sure the US ain't that different. And about meeting her, if you know her hotel you might get to meet her but you'll have a shitty view at the show if you get there that late. If you're in front row she might take a selfie with you and you can give her stuff and say a few words. But don't be in the front far left/right corners, she doesn't come there lol (personal experience)
  9. hmmm Methamphetamines probably takes the cake. Bad Disease, Living Without You, In Wendy, C U L8R Alligator a bit more like sad that she's that way, Elvis, Pawn Shop Blues, Yayo maybe, Get Drunk, Disco, Brite Lites sort of, Jump depending how you look at it
  10. Born To Die bc I kept watching the video (I didn't like her but I couldn't stop listening to the song). Then I downloaded the whole album
  11. aw that sounds so nice, I'd like that sound for whatever Lana's releasing
  12. Poison Ivy

    New US Tour!

Praying she'll have dates in San Diego/LA in July-August
  13. Ha, that's really interesting, it certainly puts the song in a different light for me - much deeper than I thought of it anyway. Initially I thought it doesn't make sense for her to be the soul in his body but I 'get' it now.
  14. "A man who makes a beast out of himself got nothing to lose" from Tired of Singing the Blues is probably a 're-adaptation' of "He who makes a beast of himself gets rid of the pain of being a man." (a quote from Samuel Johnson) "Man makes plans and God laughs" from Starry Eyed is an Yiddish proverb apparently "Man plans and God laughs." The "ghost in your machine" from She's Not Me is a quote from Ryle (the idea of the 'ghost' in the 'machine' - soul in a body) but it's actually supposed to show how dumb Descartes sounds with his mind-body dualism because philosophers are dicks like that. I wouldn't say the way Lana uses it makes much sense but she did metaphysics not philosophy of the mind after all lucky her
  15. She looks a bit off but it must be the lighting or something because she's as fab as always in the stalker sarah pic. Did she do something different with her eyebrows or is it just me?
  16. Poison Ivy

    In The Sun

This part cracks me up every time for some reason lol, it's so lizzy
  17. The new album made some ppl ULTRAVIOLENT I got nothing to add to the conversation except excitement for new music and no knowledge about production (I dont even know who the people Lana takes pics with are lol), I'll show myself out
  18. Yea I think that's the one I have? I keep trying to get into it but it's really not my type, same with Nirvana for some reason (I know you like them too! ) ~ I can appreciate the lyrics and everything, but the music doesn't do anything for me.
  19. Marina & The Diamonds, Nirvana, Guns n'Roses, most metal bands, Bruce Springsteen, probs more I can't remember
  20. Nope, just as far as I've seen/experienced they're pretty similar in terms of norms and values. Yea of course it's not the same country. I'm sorry to hear France is so bad btw, I have no particular love for them either and it doesn't exactly surprise me to hear that.
  21. Ugh if she comes to London/is in Europe while I'm in California I'll be so annoyed Anyone know the price range for the European tickets? can't even afford it probs, maybe I'll stalk her at her hotel instead.
  22. I did experience some sort of appearance-based discrimination (I can't call it racism because I'm as Romanian as them lol) but my skin tone is a tad darker than the average Romanian - so gypsy was a to-go insult. I also remember being called Chinese (???) as a kid a lot because of the shape of my eyes and not in a nice way (I don't think I actually look Asian though, I wish haha). But Romanians are very biased against most races and rarely know how to get along, so when they come to Western countries they will bitch about everyone and everything. As far as I heard this is the case for a lot of Polish immigrants, Bulgarians, Hungarians etc. My mom's boyfriend who's Jamaican visited Russia and said he didn't feel welcome at all ~ I don't know much beyond that about Russia but in my understanding of how most stuff in Eastern Europe plays out, it's uncannily similar from country to country. There are cultural differences but when it comes to treating people like dirt they sort of unite. As for misogyny and sexism, maybe your experience is different. It's really a whole new topic to even begin to describe how women are seen in most of Eastern Europe. I think a good epitome of the way the men see women is that topics of discussion like "How do fat chicks dare to say no/reject any guy at all?" are totally normal (I'm not even making it up, I was on a Romanian forum and stumbled into this extended discussion that was really disgusting to read btw). The typical Romanian guy will say shit like that all the time. Another good example is 30, 40, 50 year old men who can't even cook a meal or wash their own clothes by themselves because they jumped straight from 'mom's doing it' to 'wife's doing it' and laughed at that one guy who cooks for his wife or helps in the kitchen/cleaning w/e. Again, this is the norm and very few people question these things in Romania. It's a bit like 50s America, only that women usually work too alongside all the shit they have to do at home. From what I see on my old school friend's facebooks I don't have much hope for the younger generation even. I've know other Eastern European couples/women/friends of friends that follow the same pattern even if they're not Romanian. If Russia is totally different than this then that'd be great. And nope, I don't know any Russian (except 'da' because we say it too haha). I know Moldovians still have a lot of Russian influence in the country, I'd say Romania has much less nowadays. I don't think there's much talk you can do with people set on so-called traditional values because it's sort of ingrained in them and unless they can perform some critical thinking, they'll never get what's wrong with the things they consider values.
