Having freckles and unnatural hair means that she is inauthentic as a person and not down-to-earth? Let's not.
  2. As a debut album, Lana Del Ray is quite an astonishing accomplishment. An artist's first album usually reflects its creator's identity crisis through a glaring inconsistency, but LDR is incredibly coherent and thought-out. Del Rey had meticulously crafted the sound and imagery of her project. The lyrics, reflecting those from later works, both embody her own personal struggles and utilize a vintage, melodramatic aesthetic to convey these emotions. The album combines a multitude of diverse genres, but rarely feels inconsistent, thanks to the artistry of Del Rey and her producer, David Kahne. The minor missteps are found in tracks that try a bit too hard to sound innovative, particularly in the partly-spoken track, Brite Lites. Fortunately, though, the blips are fleeting moments of experimentation amidst a larger experience and geniously-crafted atmosphere that gradually takes hold of its listener. Most importantly, however, is the ingenuity of this album that solidifies the originality and creativity of an artist, who is far too often misconstrued as being manufactured. 90/100 Recommended listens: Kill Kill, Yayo, Pawn Shop Blues, Oh Say Can You See
  3. I love his work on Old Money and Bel Air (he produced the orchestral version of Young and Beautiful), but imagine how redundant an album mainly produced by him would be. He also has the ability to make exciting material seem dull. His work on Yayo and Body Electric...
  4. I'm ready to be surprised...as long as Heath isn't producing
  5. I can't contain my excitement for Lana's take on Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds-esque music. I also wonder how jazzy this will be. Lana said she felt that she was already approaching jazz with tracks like Cruel World and Shades of Cool, which are both bluesy rock tracks. I'm thinking more psychedelic rock with very surrealist lyrics.

I didn't know there were other SZA fans here. <3 Does anyone know if Sobriety will be on A?
  8. When I made this thread, I did not anticipate it becoming a Chris Crocker and Lizzy Grant misc pics thread.
  9. I think she's trying to say that Lana is a reductive version of Chris Isaak and borrows from his aesthetic. Still ridiculous, but whatever.
  10. http://www.mojo4music.com/19138/kim-gordon-versus-lana-del-rey/ Good Lord, woman. Give it a rest. I hope Lana doesn't respond.
  11. Probably. I do think the surrealistic filters are significant, though.
  12. My thoughts exactly. I'm very excited for the visuals this era.
  13. https://instagram.com/p/zbWLxCFnmR/ This is the third time that Lana has posted this picture taken by Chuck. I wonder if it's from a larger set.
  14. Frances Cobain and Anton Newcombe being shady on Twitter https://mobile.twitter.com/antonnewcombe/status/569038794130923521 Throwback to this: http://www.collapseboard.com/music-blogs-3/letters-from-rosie-9-amanda-palmer-and-the-naive-sleeping-beauty-scene-kids/attachment/anton-newcombe-gawping-at-lana-del-rey/ He called her a "dumb bitch" here: http://m.sfweekly.com/shookdown/2012/05/14/live-review-51112-brian-jonestown-massacre-returns-to-the-fillmore-attitude-and-all He also used to obsess over her on Twitter in 2012, constantly calling her names and posting links to stories about her.
  15. I think Lana might be featured in the next issue of W Magazine...she followed them on Twitter. More Honeymoon info, please.
  16. It would be really cool if Lana fully embraced surrealism and created music videos in the style of films like 8 1/2, Belle de jour, Last Year at Marienbad, Mulholland Drive, Twin Peaks, etc.
