  1. Found it in the interview with Inrockuptibles: "Everybody has asked why I wanted to end Ultraviolence by a cover of The other woman by Nina Simone. Because she says everything, because I love jazz and may be because it could a door for what could be the next album. I could have signed those lyrics... I have listened to another of Nina Simone's cover Lilac Wine by Jeff Buckley... (she sings) It reminds my apprenticeship of life in New-York."
  2. I'm sure that I remember her saying in an interview that she wanted the song to carry over to the next record, but I just can't track it down. Maybe it was one of the radio interviews.
  3. Updated the OP. Has anyone been able to find that quote about The Other Woman carrying over to the next record? Edit: Was this it? From The Fader: "I’m a big jazz aficionado. Hopefully my next foray will be into jazz. I feel like I’m getting there with songs like ‘Shades of Cool’ and ‘Cruel World’ and a cover of ‘The Other Woman’ by Nina Simone. I’m inching towards what I really love, which is kind of a Chet Baker, Nina Simone-inspired sound. It’s hard to get that sound because you need great jazz musicians." I feel like it was even more explicit than that, though.

  5. I hope that Lana's interest in surrealist lyrics (and the reference to Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds) means that she will retain the psychedelic rock sound. She's great at combining genres and I could definitely see Honeymoon being a hybrid of jazz and psych-rock/dream pop.
  6. I was just listening to Aaliyah! I was so obsessed with her in middle school...how did my parents not know I was geh?
  7. As much as I would love to see her perform the lead single live, I agree that it's probably not a great idea in the long run. As I said before, I feel like Honeymoon is a great opportunity to combine the high quality of UV's music with the amazing visuals of BTD.
  8. Well said. I also think the co-writer thing is talked up a bit too much. Everyone who has worked with her has said that she has full artistic control and knows exactly she wants. They just supply the instrumental notes to the lyrics, soundscape ideas, and melodies that she provides.

  13. Ugh Gaga won for that shitty attempt at imitating "jazz."
  14. Exactly He's serviceable as a producer, but I'd rather she go the retro-rock route.
  15. Muse isn't my favorite either, tbh, but Lana always has a lot of control in the studio and I would expect her to shape her sound the way she wants it. I'm still not giving up on Ronson, though. And Lynch
  16. All of Muse's work is self-produced. I'm not sure if he has produced for other artists.
  17. He's a good producer, though. I'm definitely hoping that Lana stays in the bluesy rock realm for this album...it just suits her so well. Something like Duffy's Rockferry or the work of Dusty Springfield would be ideal. Jazzy rock.
  18. Are we just going to ignore the fact that Lana was with Matthew Bellamy yesterday of Muse? More rock for Honeymoon, please.
  19. It would be smart if Lana put Honeymoon on pre-order as early as FROOT went up. They waited too long with UV.
  20. Agreed. Lana, if you're lurking, make an album with David Lynch!!! He's perfect for you. He combines jazz and dream pop effortlessly. Also, he and Lana both have that "seemingly innocent but sinister under the surface" thing going on in their work. God, imagine Lana's Floating into the Night
  21. It's very common, but it's more of an automatic thing rather than a controlled mental image.

  23. I do this as well. Or, I'll automatically picture landscapes/city scenes that match the music. It makes the listening experience very beautiful.
  24. Yes, and it would feel redundant at this point. She needs to continue evolving. She's so skilled at combining various genres in a fluid manner that another BTD would be quite disappointing, IMO.
