  1. That's not true at all. I've always been a big Lynch fan and recognized his influence in her work immediately. I then found a pre-BTD interview in which Lana mentioned being struck by Twin Peaks: FWWM. People in her audiences during the early NY bar days mentioned her similarities to his work and she incorporated elements of his work into her own to convey a similar message. Sorry that I'm ~*pretentious*~ for being a big Lynch fan and simply noticing his influence.
  2. David Lynch, the director of Twin Peaks, Blue Velvet, Mulholland Dr, etc. Lana references him frequently in her lyrics and sound.
  3. You know good and damn well that you picked out some of her least ambiguous lyrics there. Much of what she writes does have an allegorical element to it...the other user is correct. Even those lyrics aren't meant to be taken at face value.. Much of BTD was very Lynchian in its criticism of modern American values. Inversely, Video Games shows her appreciation of the small things in life. The Body Electric lyrics allude to her relationship with icons and the way in which she crafts her artistic persona. That happens to be my least favorite Lana lyric, though.
  4. I prefer when Lana works with one main producer to execute her vision. It tends to feel more cohesive.
  5. Ok, it's a beautiful song, but let's not reach here. Emile's overproduction tends to drain the life/emotion out of Lana's songs. He stripped down a bit here and it's nice, but it's a bit of a stretch to call it better than anything on UV, lol.
  6. Can't wait for the music video I hope it's as good as the videos for Cola and Dark Paradise
  7. That's what I heard as well.
  8. Songs don't need to be performed live to be given depth. Sure, they're nice bonuses for fans, but the albums stand alone as work of an artist. We're just spoilt in this day and age and expect the pop standard from every artist. Also, can we take this to another thread and not clog this one any further?
  9. With consistency, you're right. But Lana's peak live vocal performances are far superior. Her range and tone are incredible and people don't realize this. And she has become much more consistent and confident as of late.
  10. I think they're more consistent, yes, but Lana's live vocals at their peak >>> And I think she is capable of performing at big events if she *wants* to and isn't overly struck by fear. Just look at her Coachella performances in front of multiple thousands of fans and journalist.
  11. And then redeem herself with an incredible performance that we know she is capable of.
  12. And that's fine, but it works both ways. You shouldn't make a general, definitive statement like "UV isn't high quality" when many fans feel very differently about it.
