  1. Just Cherry liked a post in a topic by FirstSpider in (Shades Of Cool) The Automobiles Of Lana Del Rey
I'm absolutely obsessed with cars, they're my passion. This thread is to catalogue the cars Lana mentions or uses in songs and videos.

    Cars in songs:

Shades Of Cool - "He Lives In California Too, He Drives A Chevy Malibu"
Lana's referring to the bread and butter midsize sedan, the backbone of the Chevy lineup

You Can Be The Boss - "He has a white corvette like I wanted"
My guess is that the car she is referring to is an Olympic White Corvette, probably a C1, C2 or C3

Hundred Dollar Bill - "Jimmy pulls up in his blue Chevy Nova"
The Blue she is referring to is most likely Danube Blue, or Mist Blue. Probably the 2nd Generation model as it's the most collectible.

National Anthem - "Take me to the Hamptons, Bugatti Veyron"
It doesn't take a rocket scientist to know she is definitely talking about the Bugatti Veyron EB 16.4. there have been quite a few different special editions made.

Back To The Basics - "Sit Back In My Pink Cadillac"
I'm assuming the Pink Cadillac would be a reference to Elvis's car which was a 1955 Fleetwood Series 60.

This Is What Makes Us Girls - "Stealin' Police cars with the senior guys"
When Lana was 16 three police interceptors would have been common, the Dodge Intrepid, The Chevrolet Impala, and The Ford Crown Victoria

Golden Grille - "Drivin' in your Escalade"
We all probably know the behemoth Cadillac SUV piloted by rappers, drug dealers and soccer moms everywhere, It's been through 3 generations now. Golden Grille was from 2009 and by then it had entered it's 3rd iteration but as the song is obviously written about an earlier time, and the Escalade in production today was released in 2007, It's very likely a second gen model she's singing about. The first gen was largely playing catch up to the Lincoln Navigator and didn't get to enjoy the sales of it's successors as it was only built for 2 years.

    Jump - "Cadillac convertible"
    Eldorado? DeVille? Allante? XLR? Series 62? it's anyone's guess. It's very likely that it's a 1959 Series 62.

On Our Way - "Kiss me in your Chevrolet"
Another mystery car, It's clearly a convertible as well. Corvette? Nova? Corvair? Bel Air? Impala? Camaro? Blazer? Caprice? There are quite a few possibilities, I like to think it's a Corvair.

White Pontiac Heaven / Axel Rose Husband - Well, she says it in the title...
Again, this could be pretty much any white Pontiac. She does seem especially fond of the Fiero though.

1949 - "We in the Pontiac from July to July"
Same story as WPH and ARH it really could be any pontiac.

Every Man Gets His Wish- "We in the Chevrolet from July to July"
Just like 1949, WPH, and ARH it really could be any Chevrolet.

Driving In Cars With Boys - "Momma's Mercedes or Billy's Pickup Truck"
Who knows what kind of truck she's referring to. Anyone know if her mother drove a Mercedes?

Heavy Hitter - "Open up that Lamborghini"
Once again, this could be any number of Lambos, the Miura, Gallardo, Espada, Countach, Murcielago etc.

Hit & Run - "Pick me up in your white Lamborghini"
Just like HH there are quite a few possibilities for this one

Playing Dangerous - "Let's get in the back of your cop car officer"
Well she doesn't even give us an era for this one, there's no way of knowing what kind of PPV she's talking about.

Come When You Call Me - "White Lincoln Continental"
The Continental nameplate has been used by Ford for their Lincoln brand for 9 generations before it was cancelled, it could be any of these, but I think it's worth noting that she used a white Mark V Continental in the new music video (see photos below)

Hawaiian Tropic - "A bottle of Jack in the Cadillac" "White Corvette under willow trees"
This is the only time she mentions the Cadillac in this song so we have nothing to go on as far as the exact model. It could really be any Cadillac prior to the 2009 Model Year.
The Corvette she mentions is most likely the same one she refers to in You Can Be The Boss

Heartshaped Chevrolet - "kiss me in your Chevrolet"
As the Chevrolet line is the same as in On Our Way it's pretty obvious that the chevrolet she's referring to is the same Chevy Convertible

Hot Hot Hot - "Black tint glass on your cherry red car"
Who knows? It could really be any red car...

Big Bad Wolf - "Escaping in your cherry red car"
    Same as above.

*I have recieved a tip that one of the aforementioned Chevrolets is from the 1967 Model Year*

    Cars In Music Videos:

Born To Die - It appears to be a 1969 Ford Mustang Mach 1 that the couple crashes.

Summertime Sadness - Lana's own 1981 Mercedes-Benz SL is used.

Ride - A 1975 Cadillac Coupe DeVille is driven by the guy who picks her up.

(The car in the Photo is a Sedan DeVille, Just Imagine it without the rear doors)

National Anthem - A 1956 Ford Thunderbird and a 1963 Lincoln Continental Convertible are used, similar to the ones owned by the Kennedy family, as well as a 1950-53 Cadillac Series 62 Convertible.

Blue Jeans (Original) - There is a clip of what appears to be the bonnet of a Jaguar XK 140

Lana Is also shown in a truck in this video. It's a 1955 Chevrolet Apache/Task Force. the grill, bumper and headlight bezels have been painted white. the same truck can be seen in at least one other photo shoot. This particular truck can also be seen on the cover of Born To Die

    Burning Desire - Obviously a Jaguar F-Type

Several AKA Era Videos -  I have noticed more than one Pontiac Fiero in the original Lizzy Grant clips that have leaked. Clearly Lana has a thing for this car.

Diet Mtn Dew 2 - The Ford Del Rey is used. This is where she got the Del Rey script with the three circles. Don't run to the dealer lots just yet, the Del Rey was only available in South America.

Tropico - Lana is seen in a Spring Green, fender-skirted 1952 Chevrolet Bel Air Rat Rod (Potential clue to the song?). In typical rat rod fashion, the car is missing most of its stainless and chrome trim as well as the actual convertible top and frame. the Chrome grill has been painted and the car features a continental kit. She is also seen with a white Lincoln Mark V.

Shades Of Cool - You'd expect Lana to use a Chevy Malibu, since it's what she ints about in the song, but instead her tattoo artist friend pilots a 1967 Pontiac Firebird Convertible.

At one point a 2006 SAAB 9-5 SportCombi makes a came appearance over Lana's shoulder. It's given away by the SAAB signature hockey stick shaped C Pillar and the tiered tail lights

    Cars Lana Owns:

    1981 Mercedes Benz 380SL
As seen in the Summertime Sadness video, Lana has a gold SL class

    Jaguar XK
Lana did the whole horse and pony show on the hood of Jaguar's new little roadster, the F-Type, but she actually owns it's big brother the XK. The XK is considerably larger and more powerful than the F-Type, they actually share the same platform though (The F-Type's was shortened). Lana's XK is in Ultimate Black Metallic.

    Jaguar XJ
This one is important for those of us who don't like in California because the XJ is Lana's preferred mode of transportation. No doubt she owns her own and is seen driving it frequently (All I could find of her driving it were interior shots), but in other places she is almost always driven in one, so If you're at one of her shows and you see an XJ pull up, chances are it's her. Rob Grant also owns one as well. It's Jaguar's full size flagship. Lana appears to have the SWB model. Here's the best photo I was able to find on short notice of Lana with an XJ. You can identify it by its signature teardrop shaped DLO and the Alutian alloy wheels.

I'm sure I missed some, let me know if you have any more information to add or if you know the ones I missed.
We're still waiting to see what new leaks will bring to the table, I guess only time will tell.

We're feeling like we wanna die fast
‘Cause he’s been breaking the law and he’s not going back
I love him violently all through the night
And yes it’s true, I live for you

Since I'm tired of the "It wasn't suposse to be online" "Charli doesn't want those songs out" "Poor Charli"

I'm going to ask you something, for those who bought the album, but you are free to answer if you want...

If Charli didn't want to release the album or didn't want her fans to hear it and stuff.

Y THE FUCK DID YOU BOUGHT IT IN FIRST PLACE? If those songs weren't suposse to be out, what thing makes u special enugh to have it? I mean the leaker paid the $100 for it, unlike you guys who make a group and bought it. That makes u look selfish.

I'm not hatin' I'm just telling you

TIME TO ANALYZE SOME LYRICS. [And I am awfully sorry for post-spamming BUT GODDAMN I LOVE THIS SONG THO]
"Methamphetamines" makes me think of Lana and her lover being tweaked off meth, laying out on the veranda, playing music from the record player (maybe it'd be outside, maybe it'd just be near the window, playing loud). They're being sad together, getting high about being sad together just to be high and sad together, letting the routine run its cycle. Every day. They'd be quiet at first, relying on each other's physical presence for some solace.

Once they started feeling the meth, maybe the lover would tell Lana about a dream from the night before that made him feel more disconsolate and disoriented than any other day. The both of them would exchange more of their recent sad dreams, how it seemed the happier dreams only poured salt on open wounds. They'd segue into talking about older dreams and aspirations, both shared and separate, but hardly anything that would get them smiling.

Other than feeling some kind of sadness, love and yearning, they are just zombified; they're stripped of the people they used to be. Whatever daydreams they had, and probably spoke of on the veranda looking out to Ocean Grove, they're gone. Ocean Grove just grew barren gradually, and then suddenly. Nothing left but a epitaph of all those hopes they had for their life in the Jersey Shore together.

The mention of neon palms swaying could be Lana and her lover having a visual hallucination while on meth, trying to find something left within their sight of Ocean Grove that was still beautiful and thriving despite how dead it was in their reality.

Maybe Lana's question of going to Coney Island was her trying to get them both to share another hallucination for entertainment. Maybe they met there and she was trying to reminisce about it. Maybe it was her indirectly saying she wanted to return to simpler times, happier times, and maybe that was the "dream/big dream" she was reminding him of: happiness and simplicity.

Maybe he'd be too tweaked and swamped in his own sadness to pay that much attention to or even answer Lana's question, maybe he'd fear that Lana no longer wanted for nothing but being together. Maybe it broke his heart to hear about a place they felt they couldn't return to just as much as it would have broke his heart to say "That'd be nice, we can do that," all along fearing that going there would mean preparing for the present to soon become history.

No one would know, he'd only respond by handing her the makeshift light-bulb vaporizer, keeping his eyes on all the shapes made by the meth residue and burn marks from the lighter along the glass, letting out an ambiguous "hm." But no matter what he thought, no matter what he would've said, Lana would have understood.

Happier times, even the possibility of living in happier times again, would only make them sadder to think about, and so they would get higher until they just couldn't be bothered getting up from laying on the veranda to stop the record from repeating, to change the music to something happier; until they couldn't be bothered doing anything else together that wouldn't make them sadder. But it wouldn't stop them from talking more about the dreams, about happiness and their lack of it; the only time they weren't disconnected was when they were high on meth and/or sharing somber moments with each other. The disconnection almost didn't even matter because they shared their woe like a telescope; they always saw through the same lens even if they weren't always looking at the same things.

They took comfort in knowing that the other knew and felt sadness and hopelessness, what it was like to feel the world around had become desolate. They took those feelings and built an empire on that veranda with them, creating a world for themselves within the one they already inhabited. A world where the broken could know they were broken and self-destructing, love it and be loved for it in every way, something that they can be confident in each other about.

All there was to live for was every tomorrow that guaranteed coming back to that world together; the rest of the world would tear itself asunder, nothing more would have mattered, nothing less. There was no need to tamper with each other's thoughts or emotions, no need to feign any of them either, because all that was felt then and there was understood, welcomed, and adored. It was a very "let all be and just love me" way of living, and that was all it was about. They were sad, they were hopeless, but they were harmonious. And that made that life a little less lonely.

Maybe this moment on the veranda was Lana feeling like there just was nothing left of that life anymore, even with her lover. Maybe that farewell is her thoughts of leaving soon after that, going back to New York, reconsidering what to do with who she became, what she was. Maybe it was her saying farewell to their happier selves and their dreams, laying with her lover, watching the neon palms, feeling her body being pulled into the abyss the veranda kept long hidden inside its mouth of wooden planks, slowly opening wider and wider every day to accommodate for its increasing appetite for Lana and her lover's happiness. They'd sink into that abyss together in Lana's mind, and there would be the most sad-but-content look on her face while they fell asleep where they lay, only to rinse and repeat the next morning.

... And that's what it's like to be in my head while listening to Lana Del Rey except I usually imagine myself in Lana's shoes.

OH. And here's a treat for those who made it up to now...

Consider it what I think would have been the lover's perspective. That, and I fawn over Father John Misty like CRAZY and just wanted an excuse to listen to this song again.

Standing on the rooftop, just out of earshot,
    Looking at this gansgter guy,
Thinking he's a hot shot, pouring me a big shot,
Trying to get me drunk and high.

He wishes to be seen with me in his limosouine,
And he says we'll have a real good time,
    Well, XXO,
But I want you to know...

    Every single night,
In the lights I'll be sparkling bright,
I'm just a party girl trying to get my drinks for free from you,
If you hold me tight, it's alright,
    Let the fire ignite,
I'm a party girl and I'm just warning you.

You don't get it, you just don't get it,
You've already forgotten even though I just said it,
Came tonight to put my work on display, bringing New York down to St. Tropez,
You don't get it, you just don't get it,
You've already forgotten even though I just said it,
(One) I won't fall in love,
    (Two) I won't ever stop,
    (Three) I'm partying all night,
(Four) I'm gonna make it pop.

    Kissing on your white yacht,
    Show me what you got-got,
Play your little rock 'n' roll,
    On an island hop stop,
Maybe we should dot, dot, dot...
    Lose control..

Do you think it's really mean that I'm only on the scene 'cause I want a little danger, boy?
    Well, XXO,
    But I told you so...

    Every single night,
In the lights I'll be sparkling bright,
I'm just a party girl trying to get my drinks for free from you,
If you hold me tight, it's alright,

    (Two) I won't ever stop,
    (Three) I'm partying all night,
(Four) I'm gonna make it pop.

    Well, it's not about us,
    Just forget about us tonight,
    Put your cigarette down, baby,
Light up the town beside me.

You don't get it, you just don't get it,
You've already forgotten even though I just said it,
You don't get it, you just don't get it,

I think the whole "celebrity perfume" thing is extremely over done. Like, just because you're a celebrity it doesn't mean you have to have a perfume with your name on it.

That being said, if she made a cologne called 'Daddy," I would buy that shit.
