This is exactly why I want Dan to make his glorious comeback as Lana's producer. Sorry, but Jack's production, while it was somewhat cute (I guess?), was lifeless, flat and dry. Whereas Dan's production style was much more balanced, Jack's style is way too subtle and subdued. Just listen to the demo and final versions of both West Coast and Sad Girl. That is God's work!
This would still be great but it isn’t what I meant. UV does revolve around guitars but the exact opposite kind of guitars I imagined for WHF. I was trying to describe soft peaceful acoustic guitars, not deep moody electric guitars. I’d be all here for that too (I’m a slut for a good guitar solo) but she’s done that before so I’d prefer something else. Maybe more of HM’s soft lush feel but based around guitars. So kinda like another UV meets HM like NFR but in a different way than NFR. Idk if that makes sense. And tbh I kind of see the production being more subtle than NFR’s, almost like NFR meets HM in that sense or even like a very soft UV. Idk I can’t put it quite into words because I’m more predicting the vibe of it than the genre.

The way NFR is very piano heavy, I think WHF will be very guitar heavy. Not like heavy guitars, but very full of them. Moreso acoustic guitar but maybe a little electric. Like obviously not just guitars just as NFR wasn’t just pianos. But like the skeletons of the songs were mostly piano and piano is dominant on most songs. But I do have a weird inkling that the WHF songs will be based around soft lush guitars. Idk the title just screams summery contemplative road trip guitars. Maybe I’m just projecting too much of what I want.

I’m very happy she sang Bartender and Tomorrow Never Came. These aren’t songs to be hidden away so I’m glad she introduced them to her setlist. I’m hoping the setlist is similar for a lot of the tour, although I wouldn’t be against some Honeymoon songs added. I hope she adds some more east coast dates later on, maybe a Canadian one. This is my favourite setlist she’s had ever.

Is anyone here from Canada and ordered the green vinyl? They kept moving the release date for it, then yesterday they randomly cancelled mine and when I went back to the shop to order it again, it went to a “product currently unavailable” page. Did anyone else in Canada have their order cancelled? Can anyone else in Canada access the page for the green vinyl anymore? I haven’t seen anyone on any social media mention this happening so it feels like it’s only happening to me, which would be strange. Are we even still getting the green vinyl in Canada? I’m just hoping someone knows what’s going on...
-
I had emailed customer service on Lana’s shop a bunch of times last week about cancelling the standard black (or the whole order, then reorder the green) and they finally got back to me and all they said was the green one doesn’t come out til the 6th now... like no shit, I already knew that. I was asking if I could either cancel my order or at least part of it, not when part of it came out. Ugh I hate dealing with online shops for major label artists.

wait but she said surprise so when she doesnt talk ab it for the next 10 months do we cry because its dead or because we have no idea if/when shes gonna drop it... the horror
“schrödinger’s album”
-
Idk if it really will be a surprise release, but I feel like Lana just said that so everyone would refrain from bugging her this time about giving us updates like with nfr. If we’re not expecting her to say anything, we can’t in good conscience get mad at her for not announcing shit. And by giving us vague “12-13 months” and “surprise release” news, we can’t accuse her of “lying” about a release period since it’s intentionally not supposed to be specific, or the surprise would be ruined.
-
so it was confirmed that ia a demo? makes a lot of sense
How is it a demo if it’s literally on the physical releases on the album? It would make the other one just the “single version” and this one the “album version”. A demo is just a working copy of a song, not a catch-all term for lo-fi songs.
-
pretty sure its vogues, because right after she says "all of your rolling stones" and those are both magazine titles
Idk if anyone said this yet since I haven’t caught up, but it definitely is vogues because it’s a reference to Joni Mitchell’s song California, in which she mentions pretty people reading rolling stone and vogue.

Everyone on twitter is going on about how they have a new collection of sugar daddy anthems (like they do with every new Lana album) and it’s cringey and I feel secondhand embarrassment for all of them. I hate that this is what everyone reduces Lana’s art to.

I’m listening to the vinyl and “Fuck It I Love You” is the version from the leak, NOT the single/digital version. Idk if it has the extended version of “Hope Is a Dangerous Thing for a Woman Like Me to Have- But I Have It” with the talking at the end yet because I’m only on my first listen of the vinyl. I just thought I’d give that update right away before I forgot. It’s the (canadian) standard vinyl if that means anything.
It also has the extended version of “hope is a dangerous thing for a woman like me to have-but I have it” (I just finished listening to the vinyl)
Did any region’s physical copies have the digital versions of FIILY and HIADTFAWLMTHBIHI or have we come to the conclusion that that’s what they were, just the digital versions?

Omg I saw this coming!!!! I’m so glad she’s really working on her next album already. Saying it now, it will be her Hejira/Rock a Little equivalent (the same way nfr was like her summer lawns/wild heart to me). Omg I bet it’ll have a black n white cover like those too. So happy I still have something in life to look forward to!!!! My life felt basically over without an album to anticipate.
-
My husband took me out today to buy an NFR vinyl because I was so sad about my orders not shipping yet. I didn’t want to because I already have 3 coming and one is exactly the same (it’s the standard black) but I’m happy I’ll have it to listen to right now.
I’ll probably just sell the other standard black one when it arrives. I have an extra UV deluxe at my mum’s so maybe I’ll bundle them together to try to sell or something idk.

I marathoned all Lana’s albums and I just finished lust for life and I’m so excited to listen to norman fucking rockwell (legally) omg it’s so close
-
I don’t know if it’s that we’ve been waiting for this moment for such a long time or what but I’m just feeling so depressed today. The album is amazing and I’m so glad we have it and it feels so good to make it to this point so idk why I’m feeling like this. I just feel empty now. It’s like there’s nothing left to look forward to in life.

I don’t think either of them deleted them yet. They’re still there (for now) in case anyone feels the need to reply to her.Looks like Courtney deleted her comments ... or Lanz did
Here they are for anyone who missed it:

For those who hate How to Disappear, what music genre/style do you normally listen to?
Also, what are your opinions on Springsteen? I just wanna figure out what’s so “bad” about it.

okay NOW i have a good question: fav song off EACH album and WHY
AKA: Raise Me Up; I love songs with occult vibes so I was drawn to this the first time I really listened to the lyrics and I love whenever Lana is kinda rock n roll. It’s so dark and I feel like I can finally get vengeance on those who wronged me while it plays.
BTD: Million Dollar Man; my first ever favourite Lana song. Kinda doo-wop and cabaret in vibe and I lived for that.
P: Body Electric; for me this was the first time for me that one of her songs felt psychedelic af. I can’t help but just move to this song and feel it in my bones. The opening scene of Tropico then sealed the deal for me.
UV: Pretty When You Cry; the guitars and the raw vocals just create such a mood and while she wails “I’m pretty when I cry” over the guitar solos at the end, I just come alive and feel that shit in my soul.
HM: Terrence Loves You; so breezy but contemplative and jazzy, plus the side themes of Bowie and his brother always affected me deeply. I always cry when I listen to it.
LFL: Beautiful People, Beautiful Problems; I know, pretty obvious coming from me. I remember waiting months just to hear this because Lana and Stevie are my faves. Hearing them harmonize is like magic. And it’s so inspiring when I’m feeling all depressed.
NFR: Venice Bitch; I’m kinda surprised this is still my favourite but I really do connect to long psychedelic songs I can just feel, plus the bittersweet lyrics were exactly what I was feeling when it came out (and still now) and I’m so glad I’ve got to hold it close to my heart all year. It’s probably my favourite Lana song of all time now.

Most people Lana knows probably like her for the wrong reasons or pretend to like her to get something so it probably means a lot to her that some fans like Win will dedicate their lives and finances to experiencing her art and going to all her concerts without ulterior motives. It sucks for all of us because most us don’t have the time or money for that, but that’s just life. Lana gives him special treatment because he gives her special treatment. Especially with the lonely life of a star, not knowing who your real friends are, it must be nice having some people who like her just for being herself and for her art. Like he’s never appeared to be dangerous or shady, just a bit of an attention seeker (but c’mon, who isn’t these days), so his presence probably just makes her feel good about herself.

Hey I haven't gotten confirmation either, and I'm also in Canada. When I click on my order it says Pending - Will Ship August 30, so I think we'll get our confirmations tomorrow!
Ugh I really regret paying for the fastest shipping now if it won’t ship til tomorrow for Canadians. Every other artist I just pay for the cheapest shipping and they somehow arrive the day of anyway. Just not the one I want the most... and it’s a long weekend too so if it ships tomorrow, it will sit in a warehouse til at least Tuesday so I’ll be lucky if I even have it by the 6th....

The blonde wig with that outfit was so Lizzy and I was like “fuck yes Lana looking out for Lizzy” when big Lana shook that car. I loved it.

I’m starting to think Lana’s favourite Joni Mitchell song is For Free since it’s the second time she filmed an insta video listening to it. I’m not surprised. It’s exactly the type of song she would heavily identify with.
