  1. Do you guys really think they’d spend the whole year perfecting the album and preparing the packaging and merch and videos to all come together at once just to accidentally put a demo on the physical release? Seriously... the other version of FIILY on physical copies is obviously intentional. Just like the extended version of HIADTFAWLMTHBIHI.

But I know how much everyone likes to pretend Lana is stupid and useless and like “she fucks everything up because she incapable of doing anything right” so I get why you want to pretend it’s a mistake.

  2. I'm fine with the FIILY demo being pressed on some physical editions if the single version is on the album on streaming services.

Still doesn't explain why the album snippets we got had the single version - it really does feel like a pressing error.

The snippets are for sampling the digital album. They always are. That’s the main reason why it seems likely it’s a physical exclusive. Sample any songs from any artist that have a different physical version, it’ll always be the digital version.

  3. I can't get over how clearly FIILY demo being on there is a pressing error. I wonder if it is all physical editions or just a select few? And I hope they make sure to keep the single version on streaming services.

Lots of albums have an exclusive album version of a single that you can only get on physical copies. They probably just wanted a more commercial version of FIILY to push on streaming services. This isn’t a new concept. I doubt it’s a pressing error.

  4. to be fair tho, fantano didn't like born to die OR ultraviolence OR honeymoon that much either. he's obviously not a fan (which is fine, but i mean, why would we take the opinion of someone who clearly personally doesn't enjoy her music?)

He gave Honeymoon a great review, didn’t he? I’m pretty sure he did. His fans even accused him of accepting bribes from Lana because he liked it so much. Whereas Ajayy barely paid attention while listening to Honeymoon.

Clearly fantano prefers when Lana is mature and poetic and Ajay prefers when she’s sexy and badass. Neither of them like all her stuff and both have valid reasonings for why they don’t like some stuff even if I feel differently.

  5. Also why did the album snippet teaser have the single version of fiily?

It’s probably the version on all digital copies. The other version is likely only on physical releases. Not surprising though. For example, lots of older albums only have the “single versions” of songs on streaming services on albums, probably to share the streams or something.

Also probably more incentive to buy the physical if there’s an exclusive version of any songs.

  6.

even though it ruins my album-a-day countdown to nfr, I listened to the hq leak.

Here’s my ranking (it was hard because holy shit this album is heavenly):

    1. Venice Bitch

    2. Bartender

    3. Happiness is a Butterfly

    4. How to Disappear

    5. California

    6. Hope is a Dangerous Thing for a Woman Like Me to Have- But I Have It

    7. The Greatest

    8. Norman fucking Rockwell

    9. Love Song

    10. The Next Best American Record

    11. Mariners Apartment Complex

    12. Fuck it I Love You

    13. Cinnamon Girl

    14. Doin’ Time

I cried so much, it’s all so good. This is 100% her best album. I always had a hard time picking between UV and HM as the best and now I don’t have to.

I can’t wait til Friday to make my husband listen to it with me. I kind of even wanna make plans with my mother to force her to listen to it too lol. I just wanna show it to everyone.

Also in the title track does she say “resident laurel can-you-know-it-all”? The genius lyrics are different so idk but these sound better anyway.

And I love the talking at the end of HIADTFAWLMTHBIHI. It’s some nice existential closing thoughts and I love when albums have something like that at the end.

  7. OMG glad that I found this thread :fabcat:

I don't have a lot of vinyl records (since I mostly buy CDs)

Regarding Lana I have BTD 2xLP deluxe and LFL :smokes: and soon NFR hoepfully a cool edition

I have obviously stuff from other artists but I don't have a pic of everything and I don't feel like anyone would care if I make a list.

You should try to take a pic of your collection and add your list. I love seeing what everyone else’s collections are like.

  8. Ok so I have like no space for any more records. I stopped having space like 7 records ago and I just keep packing them in and I hate it. It’s been worrying me so much, especially with three copies of NFR on the way and no room anywhere. So today I decided I had to fix this somehow and make more room. The obvious answer would be to donate/sell some records, but the vinyl hoarder I am wouldn’t do that. So I took out an old ratty ottoman I used to use for records when I didn’t have many and put it alone by my bookcase and decided I’d put all my Joni Mitchell, Stevie Nicks, and Lana Del Rey records in there separate from everything else. The ottoman is in really rough shape which is a letdown but I’m really excited because I always get excited reorganizing anything. Now I don’t have to worry about finding room when my copies of NFR arrive. I also have more room in my other bins, so I can start hitting up thrift stores again for more records. Here are some pictures of my special Joni/Stevie/Lana bin now.

  9. and we're giving him exactly what every social media attention seeking gay wants - his 5 minutes of fame. he'll probably become an influencer now smh this is how careers happen today

You guys should all just ignore him and all attention seekers like that and they’ll get bored and lonely and stop teasing shit online. It might even be good for them, force them to get a life.

  10. So are we sure the albums aren’t being shipped out until Friday? I preorder lots of records and every single one stated they shipped the day of release but almost every record has arrived the day of release anyway. And I always pay for the cheapest and slowest shipping (although I paid for the fastest for nfr). In the past few years at least, I’ve only had two preorders arrive a couple weeks later (fjm and fatm) and I’ve even had one arrive a week early (cat power). So I don’t necessarily trust it saying it’ll ship the day it’s released as some sort of gospel. I just hope they do arrive either the day of or at least only a couple days later.

  11. I like the censored cover more but I don't want Venice Chick on the album!

The album itself is very unlikely to be censored. When I got UV, all the standard versions said they were censored and the deluxe said it was explicit but all of them were censored on the back cover and none were censored on the album itself. I have no albums on vinyl where the music itself is censored but I do have some where the packaging is.

  12. I can quickly see the new items through the link but then it automatically redirects to the CD page. I wonder if it's a US-only thing...? Hopefully just some overlooked glitch. :(

I wish it was a glitch, but the US shop always redirects to the Canadian one for us. Sometimes I try to scroll fast before it redirects but I never can. Hopefully she eventually adds merch for us too soon.

  13. The album feels very showtuney. I’m always nervous going into Taylor’s new albums because I’m not generally a pop music fan, but after listening to the whole thing, I like it. I like it much better than 1989 and reputation but it’s definitely not on Red or Speak Now’s level. It’s cute and yeah it reminds me of musicals and it makes me nostalgic for my theatre days. It’s defijitely a breathe of fresh air when it comes to mainstream pop right now. I hope it inspires pop music to be more fun again. Also I have this weird thing with Taylor’s albums where they’re always lyrically exactly in the place I’m in with my life when they come out so I always love that. Idk favourites yet but Lover and Paper Rings are the ones I’ve been thinking about the most. They’re really cute and happy. I can’t wait til she releases it on vinyl.

  14. I listened to California and Bartender...

holy shit these two are great. I can’t even imagine the heart attack I’ll get when hearing them in high quality. I’m gonna listen to them one more time and delete them. I refuse to listen to the whole album though since How to Disappear didn’t leak and that would drive me mad. Anyway, idek how I’ll pick favourites when the album comes out because everything I’ve heard so far is overwhelmingly beautiful.
