I hope that she'll not perform tbh. She's not ready yet in my opinion. Another fiasco will be disastrous for her career (the Oscars are even bigger than SNL). I criticized her for her appearance at the Globes but I think that the reactions in the media were disproportionate, she is more beautiful than the majority on that carpet even with a sack on her. The conclusion: the american media is not ready to make her a true star and they will not forgive any mistake of hers (they are magnifying everything bad and trivializing everything good she does). Somewhat I don't want her to be even nominated after the Globes reaction. She needs to get more confident about herself and she has to work hard on her live performance (which I doubt she'll do) and then she'll be ready to shine (because she has the voice, the looks and the music to be one of the greatest stars ever).

I like the dress. I give it a 7.5/10. The color is audacious. You like it or you don't, it's a matter of personal preference, but there's no "ugly" color imo.

The pleating is beautiful. The fitting is not perfect, but that's ok. It's not meant to be form fitting, hence making her look more voluptuous (I love her curves!)

Problem is, if there's some flaws on the way pleats fall on her body, specially at the bust/waist, it's very visible because of the satin silk fabric that catches so much light. It may look a bit cheap. It's a capricious draping. I'm sure it looks better irl than photographs.

I so wish I could become her stylist...

Although the song is a lolita-esque story and she mentions the first line of the book "Light of my life, fire of my loins" her Lolita is much more inspired by the movies and pop culture vision of the character than the one described on the book. I can definitely see much more of Nabokov's writing style influence on her - specially because both created a romantic vision of such twisted love stories.   So the novel might not appeal to you just because you loved the song, specially because is heavily more inspired by beatnik novels and noir archetypes, the whole " my life is a mess and my man is bad and loves cocaine" isn't something you'll find in the novel. The book is narrated by Humbert, the molester, which is a hopeless romantic Of course one can argue that Lolita is not a romantic novel but the main character is so out of reality of his own actions. Anyway it's one of my favorites books and recommend to read it!

i don't think there's anything wrong with saying stuff like oh maybe she should've worn a different colour dress or did her hair differently bc that's just constructive criticism but when you're like she look like she so fat she look a whale she look like her pussy stank like.....that's just unfair.

"We usually don’t cover red carpet events, but this outfit was too interesting not to write about it.
Yesterday Lana Del Rey attended the Golden Globes 2015, where she was nominated for her Big Eyessong from the Tim Burton movie soundtrack. She stunned the audience wearing a vintage Travilla seafoam green dress, a dress I would have identified with my eyes closed.
William Travilla designed most of the costumes worn by Marilyn Monroe in her films, including the infamous gold pleated dress, originally intended to appear in Gentlemen Prefer Blondes (1953). In the movie you can see the dress from behind: it was considered too racy because of its plunging neckline, so it didn’t get a front shot.
By the way, Marilyn wore it at a photoshoot with Ed Clark and to receive an award from Photoplay Magazine, thus disappointing the costume designer, who thought the dress was for a movie, not for a public appearance. The dress was created out of a single complete circle of gold lame and sunburst pleated. Every pleat lines up with the back seam and there is an iron V build in the centre of the dress from the waist to the bust, creating the moulding effect.
This isn’t the only pleated evening dress Travilla designed, but it’s definitely the most famous."

Personally, I think the dress looked very flattering on her. I love it. And her hair, goodness her hair..   Simply stunning.
I also cried when I saw that snapchat video, she's too cute.

    ALSO:

Lana vs. Miss Monroe - dress is from the same designer, William Travilla.

I went to the public library a few days ago and the translated version of the book is sitting in my purse. I always prefer the original language version, but for some reason I didn't find it a pleasant read. It might be the language barrier, or something, I don't know... I might read the original version after. That's what I did with Gone With The Wind. I feel like I need to have a clear understanding of what I'm reading and if I'm unsure, I kinda give up.

I saw both movies and really liked them, specially the Kubrick one.

This is what makes her amazing. Her juxtaposition of different genres that are nothing alike to form one fluent piece of music.

Agreed...with a bit of a soft rock tinge. As I said before, I'm thinking Dusty Springfield meets Nina Simone meets Stevie Nicks. Lana loves genre clusterfucks....her versatility is awesome.

My thoughts too. Call me old fashioned, but I don't think a girl singing about lusting after boys can be considered gay

Is she trying to finally get rid of me and the other 27 loyal straight male fans with this album title??

Oh gosh, I've been to St. Barts twice, it's one of my favorite place on earth. I have a gold medallion with the island engraved and I wear it 24/7. It really is idyllic. I hope they enjoy the place! They communicate a lot physically, with the sense of touch. I need a man like that in my life.

Meanwhile the 'alternative' fans be like:

After Lana has released her 37 minute psychedelic grunge epic "I Actually didn't fuck my way up to the top (feat. Courtney Love)" accompanied by a music video of herself painting her toenails grey and slitting her wrists on the thorns of white roses (filmed on an iphone, ffs) the indie queen/reincarnation of Kurt Cobain will cancel her summer tour to find a reason to break up with latest boyfriend Francesco Carrozzini. Then on May 1st Lana will release her latest album HONEYMOON to critical acclaim and continue not to release singles for the next year before staging her own drive-by shooting, framing Lorde then returning from the dead one week later and suprise releasing her revolutionary future-jazz album "suicide note" (dedicated to the late Barrie James O'neill) before buying herself out of her contract with interscope to join Azealia Banks' newly formed independent label "F U IGGY RECORDS" and Lana shall be initiated into the league of icons by Beyoncé, wearing the skin of Stefani Germanotta as she bathes in Chanel No 5 and sacrifices a child to the spirits of Hollywood.

Hey, at least she never has another top 40 single

Already enough for me to say that the new smash single Violet Ardour will impact pop radio in April, followed by an electronic jazz remix by Cedric Gervais as the 2nd single (title still unknown). So  YAAAS! After Lana has ditched Courtney Love for Austin Mahone at her tour, neither flower headed hairextensions nor toehairs will be safe. After a glorious SNL performance during the release week, the early sales predicitions will be at about 1.2 million copies batteling Britney Spears and Taylor Swift for the best selling opening sales by a female solo artisté.

I'm hoping she ~finds~ herself vocally with this album, sings in her range, whatever. I really want her to go full out jazz, her voice is suited for it.

I don't trust Lana when it comes to anything, except for making great music. What she's hinted at sounds like it's going to be amazing.

I hope she takes the time that she needs to develop a new sound and to write smart lyrics, to find the right people to collab and record with and I also hope that she knows the music industry well enough by now to figure out which effect her music is going to have on people.

I'm also not a huge fan of the idea that her new album is released right after or in the middle of a tour again. It just messes up everything and everybody is torn between the old and the new era.

As much as I strive for more Lana songs, it is more important to me that they are different, nicely-composed and well-produced.
In my opinion it is almost impossible to find new themes when you're still singing BTD & Paradise songs every night and also have to deal with the UV sound. Since she hasn't performed since October I'm pretty sure that she has enough time to find these new themes. However, it'd be nice if she sat down in the studio after she has experienced the Endless Summer Tour and listens to her new songs again. Maybe she'll also be able to add some influences to the album.

Also the last album was released only 6 months ago, we shouldn't be so thirsty yes we should

Have someone take pics of you when you don't expect it (mid-sentence, relaxed, sun-in-your-face...)
