Yeah I get what you're saying. I don't think her poetry is terrible but I don't think it's so outstanding that it deserves 12,364 Instagram comments salivating over it, either (which is what typically happens). Her poems seem very drafty (and not just because of the typos). But maybe that's the point. Raw thoughts. Like honestly, she could type an ascii dick and post it on that beige textured background and everyone would still write shit like, "I felt this on a personal level. Thank you for understanding exactly how I feel" and "omg lana u r the queen of poetry ilysm". I'm more interested to see if she really does sell it for $1. There's no way she can make a profit or even break even doing that, and while she doesn't need the money, this book is going to be in demand so the options are: 1. print thousands and sell them at a loss 2. print a handful, drop them off at local bookshops, which will piss even more people off because they'll miss out. 3. change the price, piss people off again, and generate 15 new pages in the "Lana is a liar" thread.

I want Lana to shave her head and attack a car with an umbrella. There. That's my unpopular opinion.

I mean, I'd accept a passive-aggressive poem from her full of subtle metaphors about why it's taking so long. I can compromise.

File this under "reading too much into it"/armchair psychiatry but I think she looks tired and lost in those pics. You can see it in her eyes. Regarding her friends, she can obviously befriend whoever she wants, but I think the thing that bugs me about her Mean Girls posse is that they don't look very grounded/down-to-earth. I don't know if that's good for her personally or for her creative development. She's friends with Courtney Love and Courtney is/was notoriously a fame whore, so these new friends don't surprise me. It's a whole other subject, but Courtney was super desperate back in the day to attain the Hollywood lifestyle, and if you look at her closely even now, she's still that way. She's also into plastic surgery in a big way and I think she might've influenced Lana in that regard (but that's Lana's decision). Lana needs some friends she can have a BBQ and a few beers with on a Saturday night. Maybe she should move to Australia. Actually I'd like to see Lana move out of Hollywood, even for a year, and go live somewhere else because everything she sings is about California and it's so Red Hot Chili Peppers. California's okay, but branch out.

Maybe the age thing is as simple as she was feeling insecure about it when asked (which is understandable for someone in such a high-pressure industry) and decided to shave off a year. Maybe it was the label. Maybe she had to repeat a year somewhere in her schooling, and didn't want people to know/was embarrassed, so she subtracted a year. Considering her problems with alcohol that isn't out of the question; it's plausible that she may've missed some school. Maybe it was her way of keeping something to herself when having to share so much of herself with the public. Or maybe she was trying to throw people off so when they'd try to look up her personal information they couldn't find her. I also thought she seemed as high as a kite in that Turkish interview when she was asked about it, so there's that.

Would the average person under 30 in America even know who Norman Rockwell is? I'm not American so I had nfi and had to Google him when she announced the name ... but idk about young Americans. She said it was finished and then Ben said it wasn't, so that sounds like something had to be changed. Unless she was being Lana Del Liar again. Also, knowing her, the poetry book is 255 pages. Clearly she's insisting on putting the entire thing on Instagram, and we're only up to about page 18 so we will be waiting forever.

I actually like how natural and casual she looks in this, but the background is horrible. I mean where is this, beside some train tracks somewhere? Jesus.

For my maiden post on this board I thought I'd share my thoughts about her poetry: I might be alone in this but I actually think she's taking the piss in a lot of these poems. People are reading really deep into some of the verses (and that's fun, don't get me wrong) but I think that some of them are actually quite literal. "My love making is my legacy" is a prime example. Almost all of her music is about boyfriends, so ... yes. Somewhat literally. I'm sure that line has more than one meaning, but there's no way that obvious interpretation is accidental. She doesn't do anything by accident. And I think Cypress is about letting go of LDR and embracing herself more. "I saw you in the mirror". She started parting her hair down the middle instead of on the side. I also think the "u" and "w" thing is on purpose in the middle verses and I think she possibly uses it to relate to things online. I haven't gotten any further than that, but I don't think the inconsistency between using "you" and "u" in the same poem is accidental. "Stoic blue" = still writing her sad music despite all the criticism, and/or still sad despite all the success. She always wears jeans (well, until this Instagram baddie business ...) I think that selfie was probably taken quite awhile ago, because her hair is shorter (about the same as the Skechers pic) and I think the original pic of the house was on her Instagram some months ago. I mean, I think I read that she said she started writing these poems last October, so that fits. For me, that selfie really doesn't fit with the poetry ... unless you consider that she really isn't taking it all that seriously, and as I said at the start, I don't think she is. Those binding slats worry me (I can't believe I'm talking about them ... what even is my life) because those don't look like how you'd bind an actual book, but rather, how you'd get a school assignment bound with those thick plastic rungs. I hope it's just her personal draft copy and that it's an actual book, but for a $1 .... maybe not.
