  1. i totally disagree. we already have an album version, and for some songs we have 10,000 performances of them. i love when lana switches it up and imo, her voice is made to go with some sexy, wailing guitars. my biggest problem is that i wish she'd ditch the backing tracks (or at least have them lower or actually sung by her backup dancers). her voice is so light and airy that a stripped back performance would really allow it to shine.

  2. I haven't heard any of this show but I think her vocal variability is normal...as someone who is a singer myself (but not professionally trained), I know that confidence in your voice can change depending on SO MANY THINGS--the weather, traveling, stress, just anything. A guitar player can get their strings fixed easily but a vocalist's success depends on so many more delicate things. And if she is smoking? Yeah, that doesn't help.

  3. Last night, I dreamt that Lana was driving me around and I asked her if she'd sing "Wayamaya" tonight. She said no  :crossed:

And that in fact, she had been instructed by her managers to come to this board under a false name and write random songs she should sing so everyone would get confused and forget about "Wayamaya." NEVER!!

Other songs on the album had a more troubled gestation. Del Rey says the closing track, Get Free, originally had a different title, and much more personal lyrics.

"That song started out really revealing," she says. "I wanted to summarise my whole experience over the last six years; and then I realised, I don't want to reveal everything."

Once the initial version was "out of my system", she says, the recording was "deleted completely then started from scratch".

The lyrics became more vague and more hopeful; and the re-recorded version ends with Del Rey referencing Neil Young: "I want to move out of the black, into the blue".

"I think it would have been hard for me to do interviews if I'd said a couple of particular things that I was thinking of," she says of the original.

omfg, why does she tell us shit like this? to torture us?  :crossed:  i wouldn't be so proud of making your songs less specific and personal.

  5. i'm a freak ( :hooker: ) who basically loves everything lana has ever done.

with that said: push me down is one i never listen to. ever. i never listen to fake diamond or ghetto baby (that title, UGH) either. in the sun is dumb.

    that's about it.

  6. I feel like it's an album she made to please everyone else. Not just the fans but the media, critics etc. Even if it's not obvious but I too get the vibe that Lana isn't that connected to it.

lol, as if lana would do anything that she didn't want to do at this point. she said it herself in the pitchfork interview, she only cares about her own opinion.
