  1. I love how much looser her singing is this era, reminds me of ultraviolence. BTD and LFL had very controlled vocals
  2. look my man I’m trying really hard not to be a downer over here
  3. It’ll prolly sound amazing in full but this snippet sounds very... not lana-like
  4. I’m not sure how I feel about the new snippet I’m conflicted
  5. Cinnamon Girl being my least anticipated after so many months of begging for it is a Shakespearean tragedy
  6. weeell, maybe it’s because I’ve never been in love (heartless bitch that I am) and AKA has the least songs directly about love or heartbreak compared to the rest of her albums, but I love how fun and out-there the lyricism of that album is. Plus, it injects so much magic and mystery in normal places you pass everyday, like motels and gas stations
  7. it might just be that I’m stupid but “now my life is sweet like cinnamon” don’t make sense? cinnamon doesn’t taste that sweet, it just smells sweet. unless lana has never tasted cinnamon that line is sarcastic
  8. Lana will start talking about her next album three weeks after NFR is released
  9. Oh god yes, that would literally be a dream. You know, by the album trailer I sort of expected lfl to have short, cute, witchy songs with a bit of a storyline just like love potion. I mean I loved what we got, but that would’ve been kind of amazing.
  10. Soo, after hearing SOTW I want lana to cover Love Potion No.9, it’s such a perfect song for her jesus
  11. It has such The Love Witch energy omg she sounds bewildered and bewitched I LOVE
  12. season of the witch was nothing like I expected it to be and yet,, I’m a woman in love
  13. Oh I don’t think she dislikes lgbt people and I definitely don’t think she’s being calculated! You misunderstand my point, I think she’s being genuine and although I don’t know her she seems like a caring person, I just think the lyrics are a bit short sighted and she’s a bit stuck in her own bubble, that’s all! Sorry if it came across inflammatory English isn’t my first language
  14. As I said before though, she definitely had good intentions, she’s just not that socially aware
  15. Well she sorta harkens back to a better version of America, saying people only had to worry about children after dark. In reality, this safe version of America only ever existed for you if you were white, heterosexual and middle class. For a lot of us, the farther back you go in American history the worse things get. It’s the same kind of collective idea of a golden age of America that Trump promises to bring back
  16. The inconsistency of the lyrics of Young and Beautiful ruined the song for me tbh. One second I’m holding back tears when she begs god to let her beau into heaven and the next she goes “all that graceee all that bodyyy all that faceee makes me wanna partayyy” like excuse me bitch
  17. Lana might not be woke woke, and she like most white Americans obviously views the past with rose colored glasses, but I think she genuinely cares and has good intentions. Her political songs aren’t just to showcase how much she cares about the issues, and that, I think, is precious and worth admiring.
  18. whyyyy is she mumblin bitch whyyyy u mumblin
  19. we gotta spread the word about our lord and savior MAC, it’s so criminally underrated here
  20. Lyrically speaking MAC is my favorite LDR song. Sure it has no real standout lines that can be used in insta captions but it’s simple in the best way and it feels so honest, stripped of all the trappings of glamour.
  21. I hope y’all realize artists referencing something well-written and iconic doesn’t automatically make whatever they’re writing well-written and iconic
  22. I don’t see how the lyrics you brought up are bad in the context of the song, but I do agree that critics seem to have a vendetta against feminine lyrics and subject matter, and yes she is (or was) a child prodigy which might cloud the judgment of critics. With that said, I still believe lorde’s songs improve closer you listen to her lyrics, whereas with lana you have a lot the same phrases and expressions repeated in different songs + repetition in the same song + objects that convey a mood but can sometimes sound like a grocery list. And I’m not saying these things are bad necessarily, they can improve a song by putting more emphasis on her beautiful voice and production!
  23. do y’all think NFR will be as critically acclaimed as melodrama was? I’m really not sure and someone is gonna beat me up over this but I think lorde is a better songwriter than lana is (though lana makes up for it by having the voice of a literal angel and better album aesthetics) anyway lana’s weird lyricism only makes me like her music more. every song lorde puts out has a very clear message whereas much of lana’s music is more about mood, but many critics fail to consider that and rate based on how well the lyrics can convey a message in the song, so lana could falter in that regard am I making sense?
  24. She sounded so angelic, this is the kind of song her voice is meant for
