  1. If that West Coast radio edit is any indication of what could have been, I'm up for hearing alternate versions of the tracks. However, I'd be into having the sound branch out some like Paradise did from BTD. A reworked Hawaiian Tropic would be great on a UV add on.
  2. Whoever started GrimesDaily is really brave tbh. That chick internets way too good/often for me to be sitting there dissecting her life on an open board. Too much embarrassment potential Twigs doesn't immediately get album of the year from me because that Mastodon record is really, really solid(a comparison I thought I'd never have to make), Grimes will very likely release something, and Ultraviolence was released at just the right time for me to wallow in misery to it, which is giving it more longevity than it deserves tbh (though I highly doubt UV will get my album of the year pick ) Unfortunately for Jhene Aiko though, LP 1 will shit on every experimental R&B songstress album this year.
  3. Is no one going to give Kicks the attention it deserves, or?...
  4. She said her Catholic upbringing has influenced her writing. UV also has the Hundred Dollar Bill connection with the Ultraviolent swing line, and the Jim references. A lot of the concepts from the Lizzy-Early Lana days are reused on Ultraviolence. If she really does add on a EP, I wouldn't be shocked to hear Kinda Outta Luck or Playing Dangerous make their way back around, conceptually.
  5. Guns and Roses has some of the most well written verses on the album. It's not the best song, but she doesn't reuse words in the same line (You called me poison ivy cause I was filled with poison) or reuse concepts over and over in verses and the chorus, and the bridge is great.

How did that even..Happen? Is it an unauthorized cover or something?
  7. I mean, it's pretty sexual, of course..But if that's the worst you've got, I have some old Slayer records for you to hear.. Or the non radio edit of whatever rap song is making the top 40 rounds right now Yeah ever since the parent groups have let up and indie music exploded, no one gives a shit. Children these days are filthy perverts anyway! This album is one of the best I've heard all year, and it just keeps growing on me. Even the tracks I wasn't into at first are great on second listen (Besides Video Girl. I don't hate it or anything, but it's closer to the bottom of my list right now.) Two Weeks was the first song of hers I heard after hearing her name around the internet and stuff, and I was kind of struck by how confident and explicit is was without sounding like puffed up bravado or anything, and of course the sound was crazy good. After hearing it a couple more times I decided I had to go find the rest of her stuff (very good decision)
  8. Of course, as I've been converted into a full on stan in the last 24 hours tbh I'm always curious about what does and doesn't get an explicit label. This one might be subject matter? Play by the label to look more "edgy"? http://www.npr.org/blogs/therecord/2010/10/29/130905176/you-ask-we-answer-parental-advisory---why-when-how Labels and artists choose when to use it, so it's not like an MPAA/ESRB situation where you get iced out of the market for not labeling properly.
  9. I've just decided that I love FKA Twigs, and so I was very happy to find this album already having newly leaked and waiting for me
  10. I came here for this and I was not disappointed.
  11. I think I figured this out. The song is from the perspective of the fans, Jim is her Jo Calderone, she's the cult leader, we're the jazz singers, she's hitting us, I'm not sure if it feels like a kiss.
  12. This probably means she and Interscope already know it'll be a flop single, which is fine. Save the budget for Money Power Glory
  13. Unless she's going to go all the way and release Meet Me In The Pale Moonlight, I also am done with the pale moonlight stuff. The party dress is whatever. It's not my favoirte imagery, but it's just a lana quirk/trademark in my mind at this point
  14. I thought West Coast and Shades were Zzzz level, so I'm still optimistic about this just on account of it being different from those. She's obviously going with the early 70's cult thing here so at least it might have a proper storyline
  15. This could/will be disastrously amazing. I cannot wait. Vice would bring nymphet-lana back out in full force.
  16. Really? All the lana tumblr stans I run into are too busy photoshopping the lyrics to cola onto their selfies to even form an opinion.
  17. This interview is so good. She's happy and casual and honest and YES at her talking about FMWUTTT
  18. I feel like almost every Marina stan I've ever known IRL or online gets smug and annoyed when people compare them (Marina is a ~good feminist~ ~Girls is an ironic song~ ~Lana's had plastic surgery~ ~No one besides Marina (and me) could ever relate to teen idle~ )so I wouldn't want it just so I wouldn't have to see all that whining. As someone who loves both though, I think they could both learn/reach something cool with a collaboration. Marina might get some more inspired melodies and just some of Lana's overall "oomph" while Lana might up her wordplay and lose some of the (literal, not metaphorical or thematic) repetition she tends to overuse.
  19. Brooklyn Baby is a great song, but it would be disastrous for her if she really is bothered by all that "she's so fake" stuff people say. Hardly anyone would take it sarcastically and she would be torn apart. Cruel World is a 7 minute classic rock song, and the demographic of the radio stations that would even play it are not interested in her in any other capacity, except maybe as a groupie biker chick in their fantasies. Half of Old Money's royalties belong to someone else, and it's too slow and boring so that would be a waste. If they could fix FMWUTTT somehow it could work, but they probably can't. Money Power Glory is the best chance they have at a radio hit if they remix it. "Dope and diamonds that's all I want" is really singable, but I'd save it for november/december if I were Interscope.
  20. Wow I really like this actually. I'll be looking into her music(1929732 years late apparently), thanks evil!
  21. Florida Kilos will ascend it's bonus track status as soon as Spring Breakers 2 needs a song.
  22. Summertime Sadness [Cedric Gervais remix] wasn't on the tracklist at all, so...
  23. I'll say this, as an extreme introvert, a sensitive person, and a creative type, and frankly kind of a selfish asshole: All that tortured artist shit goes out the window in the real world. Save it for the studio, save it for your journal, save it for your canvas, because nobody gives a fuck about your emotional needs outside of those places. It hurts, and it's hard, and you won't make friends with everybody, but you won't win. Lana should know this by now, and honestly, if she doesn't, she needs better handlers who do. It's nice to say "she's not cut out for this" but she wanted this kind of fame, did she not? You can't be on Kimye wedding levels of fame and screw up half of your press. Even Kanye can get through an interview unscathed once in a while. I really feel for her, but how many times can we blame the journalists for doing their job too throughly?
  24. LMAO WHAT AN AWFUL IDEA. I love this song but no one is going to play it, it's depressing, and there's going to be backlash. FLORIDA KILOS WAS RIGHT THERE GIRL. What does that song even exist for if not to be a late summer single? Brooklyn Baby even. Money Power Glory is going to be the winter single if they have any sense so I see why they didn't do that but..
  25. So this would be a Black Beauty-esque Rick Rubin album if Lana was a more pun(k)tucal lady?? UV is perfect as is, but I don't want her to work with Dan as a producer again. You know how all Black Keys songs sound the same? (Like reject White Stripes songs) I don't need that for Lanz
