    Signs that you're in a cult (AKA Lanaboards)

    The group displays excessively zealous and unquestioning commitment to its leader and (whether he is alive or dead) regards his belief system, ideology, and practices as the Truth, as law.

    ‪ Questioning, doubt, and dissent are discouraged or even punished.

    ‪ Mind-altering practices (such as meditation, chanting, speaking in tongues, denunciation sessions, and debilitating work routines) are used in excess and serve to suppress doubts about the group and its leader(s).

    ‪ The leadership dictates, sometimes in great detail, how members should think, act, and feel (for example, members must get permission to date, change jobs, marry�or leaders prescribe what types of clothes to wear, where to live, whether or not to have children, how to discipline children, and so forth).

    ‪ The group is elitist, claiming a special, exalted status for itself, its leader(s) and members (for example, the leader is considered the Messiah, a special being, an avatar�or the group and/or the leader is on a special mission to save humanity).

    ‪ The group has a polarized us-versus-them mentality, which may cause conflict with the wider society.

    ‪ The leader is not accountable to any authorities (unlike, for example, teachers, military commanders or ministers, priests, monks, and rabbis of mainstream religious denominations).

    ‪ The group teaches or implies that its supposedly exalted ends justify whatever means it deems necessary. This may result in members' participating in behaviors or activities they would have considered reprehensible or unethical before joining the group (for example, lying to family or friends, or collecting money for bogus charities).

    ‪ The leadership induces feelings of shame and/or guilt iin order to influence and/or control members. Often, this is done through peer pressure and subtle forms of persuasion.

    ‪ Subservience to the leader or group requires members to cut ties with family and friends, and radically alter the personal goals and activities they had before joining the group.

    ‪ The group is preoccupied with bringing in new members.

    ‪ The group is preoccupied with making money.

    ‪ Members are expected to devote inordinate amounts of time to the group and group-related activities.

    ‪ Members are encouraged or required to live and/or socialize only with other group members.

    ‪ The most loyal members (the �true believers�) feel there can be no life outside the context of the group. They believe there is no other way to be, and often fear reprisals to themselves or others if they leave (or even consider leaving) the group.

    ppl talking about dry January & shit like she didn't drop a brand new song a few weeks ago

     

    Especially when the last 3 ~recent songs are also apparently just “for fans” songs and not even on the album so there’ll be more coming soooon

    Gurl you’re always amazing

     

    I just checked out DG and coming from a purely mobile based user—make the update! I always use the desktop version of the site when I’m on my phone because I feel like the mobile version loses the theme and everything— so it would definitely be an upgrade from awkwardly reading posts and stuff. But that’s just me, on the computer it might be different so :blush:

     

    In saying that though, the site works fine with me so the upgrade doesn’t seem to be 100% necessary but it just depends on how everyone feels and also costs and stuff :kiss: idk if I was helpful at all :suicide:

     

    —but also a NFR theme would be a nice change. I was just thinking about what you could use as the picture and I think a screenshot of Lana yelling at us from the HIAB instavideo so we always remember Lana is a vengeful God

    Lana’s whole career has been a journey, I think she’s shown such development over the years both musically and personally. I feel like she’s so tired and blarfg at the thought of even bothering with creating an image because she knows no matter what, everyone will perceive it differently and have opinions that she struggles dealing with. I think she’s just at the point where she’s like “here’s the music, here’s how I am literally atm, bye fam” and after like 7 years of a rollercoaster I am okay with this (soz new fans :suicide: )

    Get Free and a lot of the LFL tracks are beautiful, in their own way of course

     

    But omg pls stop arguining about what Lana has to do or what sounds amazing and that she should do. Even before LFL it was easy to tell Lana wanted to make an acoustic folk sort of album, she’s expressing what she as an artist needs to express in the capacity she is comfortable in. It’s easy to forget that Lana is human, her experiences are human, she should be able to tell whatever story she is comfortable telling.. the main thing that drew me to Lana is her story telling, to tell her what to say discredits everything she has done, I think we should be patient and see how this new album unfolds— no one has any idea, so calm the fuck down and breathe

    I got into Marilyn and Lana at the same time in 2012 and it was a beautifully depressing year ahahaha

     

    Marilyn’s films are amazing, I remember buying her collection and binging them all! “The Misfits” is such a sad movie, you could tell how raw her performance was. Argh, the poor thing :suicide:
