Seeing her first 3 albums (especially TFJ) without “and the diamonds” is a crime

First things first, Katy’s comments about Britney’s breakdown were sick. Idgaf that her breakdown is mentioned in pop culture a lot. Doesn’t make it right. It’s not about being “woke” and it’s not stupid. It’s about having respect and empathy for another human being. Secondly, yes you totally can compare writing about people who have killed themselves, people who have accidentally killed themselves, and people who have narrowly avoided suicide. When people think of Brit’s head shaving, literally nobody thinks of it as only a hair cut. It wasn’t then and it isn’t now just a hair cut. The head shaving was the face of the breakdown. Her breakdown almost killed her. That’s totally comparable. Writing about these things in certain ways just isn’t appropriate (imo). same goes for this. Clearly, it’s not just a head shaving, it’s something way more raw and painful I just wish the line wasnt worded that way. That’s all

It’s amazing that society is slowly becoming more sensitive to mental health issues and I know that PTP is in Britney’s defence but that line was harsh. Britney’s breakdown was a personal tragedy where she almost lost her life, almost leaving her kids motherless. She’s still facing the consequences for her breakdown to this day and still gets abuse from it. It’s not appropriate to write about it in such an on-the-nose way especially when it’s common knowledge (and common sense) that Britney doesn’t like people bringing it up. What if Marina was writing a song about how horrible depression is and she wrote “?Kurt blew his brains, leaving his kid fatherless, la la la la la ?”. Or what if she was writing a song about the effects of the media and wrote “? Amy, drunk and anorexic, la la la ?”. You just don’t write about things like that. Maybe if it was more metaphorical or abstract then it’d be alright but not so in your face. Obviously, I don’t think that Marina should get any hate. I know her intentions were pure but it was just another tone-deaf moment imo

Yeah I think that line in particular is in VERY poor taste. I get that the song is in Britney’s defence but it’s just insensitive. Like she literally almost lost her life, almost leaving her kids motherless. It’s too raw to write about especially since it’s still so current and still takes a toll on her life. I hate to admit it but Marina’s been a touch tone deaf lately so I’m hoping that someone on her team has the sense to revise some of the lyrics

I agree. She always got really into her old performances and was mesmerising to watch. She was really emotive with her voice and body language but now she just does shitty little dances with her dancers and sings over way too loud backing vocals. It was so raw before and now it's just boring (imo) which is funny because that is literally the exact opposite of what she thought the dancers would do

I wish she’d be more upfront with us. Why can’t she just say “hi guys, I’ve decided to go back into the studio again and alter some things on the new record. This of course means that the album will be delayed for a few months but rest assured that it’s coming. I’ll keep you updated”??? Instead she’s chosen to pull a LDR and ghost us. I’m sure she doesn’t mean to but it’s giving the vibe of “I’m not really bothered about my fans” (at least to me anyways). All this stringing along is tiring and annoying - not to mention rude and unprofessional

I completely get it. Her cover sounds so monotonous. With other versions (especially Nina's) there's so much passion being poured into the vocals and they're accompanied by a powerful, moving instrumental. Lana's version just falls flat. It's a shame because Honeymoon would be a 10/10 without that track. I like every song off that album apart from that cover

Honestly, I think I would’ve liked Lana’s cover if I hadn’t heard Nina Simone sing it. Nina made her cover sound like shit. I love Lana but it’s true. Nina cannot be topped and nobody can ever come close to her and that’s a fact

Well everything you’ve brought up about why you hate or extremely dislike her is all hearsay from bias sources and coincidences with no actual evidence linking them together. To say you could speculate about her murdering her husband or that someone should disassociate from her because she gives “bad vibes” is immoral imo. She’s a stranger to us so to have such extreme views of her based on no real evidence is not right (again imo). Lana can hang out with whoever she wants. I know that we feel we know everything about celebs because of the media but the truth of the matter is that we know nothing at all. We see what the celeb wants us to see or what the media thinks is a juicy storyline. Who are we to judge when we know nothing about the reality of their lives? Kurt would absolutely hate this Courtney Love murderer conspiracy. He was always open about how he struggled with suicidal thoughts, loved his wife and how he hated being called a victim. Now for the past 20 years, he’s being called a victim because people think Courtney murdered him. Literally everything he hated all wrapped up in one theory. It’s really sad that his memory is tarnished with this conspiracy theory
