People will not let Marina live freely and sing about peace on Earth, mother nature dying, heartbreak, her own happiness either in a serious or a playful manner, yet will stan Sky Ferreira the woman of constant lies and one depressive album released 13 years ago, chile

Yes, it was her problem if she had no friends and felt she wanted to die, and she was gonna live, she was gonna fly, she was gonna fail, she was gonna die die die die, then living dead dead dead, dying like a shooting star in the valley, to become a butterfly, spread her wings in the golden light and fly

All of those are ballads, a different league. But better than Superstar, Orange Trees etc. indeed
My hot take has been that L+F ballads such as End of the Earth, Believe in Love are as good, if not better than, as ballads from her previous records.

To me the high chorus symbolizes flying high and being high on purpose

Exactly, I am not impressed by Butterfly MV at all but it's still the same thing like career-defining Primadonna, Froot.
Her creative peak when it comes to music videos was How to Be a Heartbreaker and putting a bunch of naked men in times of naked girls all over the media and TV stations saying it's too homoerotic to air. The power that that had

Well sorta kinda... Chained to the Rhythm should've been a feat with Marina instead of Skip Marley

try to give the upcoming era a chance. admittedly her more recent albums have been on a much different level than her first 3 albums, but is the excessive amount of hate for the song really necessary? butterfly can be criticised in so many ways but it's a genuinely fun song and an improvement from a lot of the songs on love + fear. the lyricism isn't the best but it's the first single, i doubt it's going to be the best-written song on the entire album. the visuals, the sound, the production, and even the marketing are great. i'm not saying you can't dislike the song, but to dismiss an entire era because of the first single is an exaggeration in my opinion.
also seperate the art from the artist. even if you dont enjoy the song, or the writing, or the era just isn't clicking for you, attacking her personal life, experiences, and relationships which she's been vulnerable enough to share is just not a respectful thing to do. you can express your dislike to a song all you like, but refusing an entire album you haven't even heard and bullying her is just hate at that point. it's music, there's no need to take it so seriously. it'll naturally resonate differently with everyone

are we comparing m6 to a katy perry album co-written by many white straight men and produced by a rapist

Neither is Lana always a victim in all her relationships but people don't point out her lack of inner criticism in some songs, do they? I reckon Marina was kinda brutally honest about herself in FROOT and expecting her to repeat the cycle and self-blame and self-loathe is just not fair lol, let alone in a playful song released after a depressing poetry book. Are the lyrics too simple? Too unpolished for her standard? Yes. Are they awful?

Girl? As I understand the fake LA bubble narrative argument when she sings about mother nature dying, pink convertible and being a millionairess dumb stuff, I think it's pretty clear at this point that her affection to the other person was more one-sided, and she suffered in a relationship having panic attacks, feeling not valued enough and thus not being able to shine her true colours, which made the rat bandit lose interest in her instead of growing together. But it doesn't have to be a break up song, it may reflect being not treated with respect by anyone or dynamics of any relationship with a narcissist.
her rhyming is terrible tho

It's just a silly bop! Not anything Kylie, Charli or Gaga haven't done, let alone Lana with Florida Kilos LOL. I'm not saying I trust Marina's vision fully but the chorus is catchy. People hate on Marina still because it's become normalised for no reason, she's just been too kind and hence became an easy target for twitter hate train, I mean which pop girl the fuck sings about peace on Earth.
