Blue Banisters - Pre-Release Thread: OUT October 22nd, 2021
saith replied to Elle's topic in Retired Pre-Release Threads
This is such a dream ! I can so imagine a music video like that with the song Now, how can we be satisfied with the final music video if we actually get one ? Some of her homemade videos are part of her most iconic ones (Video Games, Hope, Arcadia,...) but I think this song deserves something different. -
Pitchfork Reviews Rescored (including Born To Die)
saith replied to longtimeman's topic in Latest News
It's so funny because I was thinking yesterday or something that pitchfork would change their review of Born to Die if they could, and here we are. My mind ! Didn't think it would actually happen because I've never seen anyone change past reviews. I think that it's a good thing that they acknowledged their errors even though what they wrote felt more like justification than anything else. -
I heard phallic labay or something. Didn't know what labay could be And the way she smiles while saying it in the video felt like a confirmation to me But I was wrong This came in mind when reading that

Nice theory. I'de love if it was consistent with VBBOTG. The song title remind me of Honeymoon's bridge : There are violets in your eyes There are guns that blaze around you There are roses in between my thighs And a fire that surrounds you And here again violets could mean toxic as everything associated with the guy is pretty toxic -

The sun is the source isn't it ? Neither of them is reliable. These are trash magazines that turn speculations into informations. They probably used the similarity noticed by fans to simulate a revived feud. -
I so agree. Though I love how this topic highlights the genius of Lana for choosing iconic song titles.

Your First Unreleased Lana Song / How You Discovered Lana Had Unreleased Music
saith replied to LOVE's topic in Lana Thoughts
I think the first thing I heard was Kill Kill if you consider that as unreleased. I remember thinking that AKA was more akin to my tastes than Born To Die witch I only liked partially. If you don't consider AKA as unreleased, it must have been Paradise the song while I was waiting for the Paradise EP (some people "promoted" the leak as if it was gonna be the title track). I was really impatient for Paradise EP because of Ride and the teaser with all of her songs. Since then, I've been waiting for her new releases with more and more impatience. Ultraviolence is the album that got me really really hooked. -
Wow, such a dedication.

Releasing it as a single before the album would make so much sense. I don't think she would release the album more than a month after Arcadia without a new single. This would be good buzz for the album for the general public as Doing Time has been. As for the people who've already heard it (with most of the released and leaked songs) it would avoiding giving away too many songs before the album. The new version would still be a nice treat while we wait for the full thing. -
I've been loving them for a long time. Their self titled is definitely my favorite with great production (by Rick Rubin who produced Ride with Lana by the way) and they have better interaction than they did before in writing and singing. I think Rick was one of the reasons they rebanded and he encouraged them to have a more cohesive process. I couldn't get into the last album. I just don't understand the vocal Treatment on Angus. It's underwhelming. Did his voice change as well ? I might give it more listen though

Lana don't want to do deluxe editions no more. That's how we will get more cohesive albums every 6 months. Imagine if she kept Black Beauty and reworked it for one of her masterpieces that followed It would have gotten a proper single release and a music video. And by the way, we need Rock Candy Sweet as an album. As most of Blue Banisters got replaced including Love You Now and Then, we might actually get that (the Second album teased by Ben maybe). -
Your Favourite Song from Each Album's Track-listing Placement

Would love to see what a Lanaboard elected tracklist would be. How about a survivor for each track number or something ? -
Hey guys, I'de like to download high quality audio of her best performances, especially of Happier than Ever. Anyone got link(s) ?

Your Favourite Song from Each Album's Track-listing Placement

We have so many similar choices. It made me rethink as well. It's so weird how I looooove COCC and what we've heard of Blue Banisters and still almost no songs from them made it on the number 1 spot. Through It definitely shows that Ultraviolence and Norman Fucking Rockwell are of my favorites and that Born to die and Lust for Life are not. It will probably change with time spent with Blue Banisters -

Lana, loving you is really hard. How can I choose ? 1. Honeymoon (+ Text Book / Born to die / Kill Kill / White Dress / Love) * 2. Mariners apartment Complex (+ Ultraviolence / Chemtrails over the country club) * 3. Shades of Cool (+Terrence Loves You / Venice Bitch) * 4. Video Games 5 . West Coast 6. Love Song 7. Yayo 8. Money Power Glory 10. Thunder 11. The Greatest 12. Black Beauty 13. Happiness Is a Butterfly 14. Cherry Blossom 15. Change 16. Get Free *I know I'm weak The 3 first spots were the hardest. Number 6 must be her weak spot because I prefered 10 songs on other spots than Love Song. This is way harder than choosing my 16 favorite songs from her catalogue. -
Feels like you did the opposite for some of those (particularly the 3 last ones). You took some obvious Lana titles and you choose something with more of a twist

Guys, all your replies make me realize how it applies to most of her songs. I love how she choses to name her songs more like poems than songs. Some don't even have the title in the song. Oh Gosh I love Color me blue. Hope is a dangerous thing teas' Maybe she could have pulled a Fiona Apple and made it the album title as well. I think it was censored like the "Fuck me hard" part in Born to Die. Too bad I totally agree. It just shows how wisely she chooses her song titles Here are some that come to my mind : West Coast : Parliament on fire I'm in love Down on the West Coast Shades of cool : Unfixable Can't Break Through Your World Cola : To the other side Video Games : Heaven is a place on hearth

Hey guys, When most pop artist have a trend of using a phrase that is repeated during the chorus as the song title, Lana is known for more surprising choice of titles for her songs. For exemple : - The choosen title for Wild On You / The colour Blue is actually Nectar of the gods. - Something Real ended up being called 13 beaches. Give a more obvious title to any existing song from Lana.

I just realised we are getting both the screaming on Dealer and the vocal guitar solo from Living Legend on the same album. Do you think we'll get other vocal suprises on the album ? I agree about The Next Best American Record, I was very disappointed by the new version. I would have preferred a new instrumental that would be more fitting to NFR and no change of lyrics. In contrary, I personally I love how she turned her pain from the original Beautiful People into hopefullness in the final one. -

Well I'm pretty surprised that Lana described the song in multiple interviews and never said Miles featured in it while in the version we have, he's the lead singer. Plus, like you said, he isn't credited as a feature on the tracklist so I don't know. Maybe the leaked version is a demo and she reworked it without the feature afterwards. By the way, Miles is the only other person than Lana that's credited for the lyrics. If Lana reworked it without is parts she either rewrote it alone or with Miles. Wait and see. Where the features credited when she annonced the tracklist for COOC ? -

I think this is cello. Strings can sometimes sound like human voice. I personally love it. Didn't know about that session. I though Boz knew for sure they were old. EDIT : Though according to lanapedia If You Lie Down was written for Ultaviolence (there's no source so I don't know how reliable this is). We know the other two are old as well so if it's ture there's nothing new on here -

We know the barrie co-penned tracks are old but do you think they might meet again and make more art together ? Barrie have always been there in Lana's music even after the breakup. I mean at least Black Beauty, Best Aemerican Record and Yosemite are about him.
