Blue Banisters - Pre-Pre-Release Thread
saith replied to Elle's topic in Retired Pre-Release Threads
Well actually Lana is working on so many projects at the same time it is confusing (even for her). She announce project before it is fully completed, and sometimes she changes her mind. Let's just say she is enthusiast. Even release dates aren't any confirmation until her label announce it, to be honest. All those releases have been talked about at the same time : White Hot Forever / Chemtrails* Violets Behind the iron gates* Multiple cover albums (I don't know if the Americana*, country and folk albums are different projects honestly but there's at least two of them) The Nikki Collab album Rock Candy Sweet Plus there's the Last Shadow Puppets album that might be either part of Rock Candy Sweet (after all, even if she said she worked with Jack for that album, she didn't say only him), or be distilled on multiple projects (we already have California and Miles' Loaded), or the rest might never see the day of light. And sometimes a song goes from one project to the other. * Those 3 didn't get released on initial release date (don't rememeber about Violet, and we still have to see the unlikely June 1 date being accurate). -
Thanks a lot. Got for free and the descriptions pretty much fit. Thanks for the song recommandation. Loved Planets of the Universe (Demo).

Fanbase name is stupid but let's admit that this is fun ! Reycists ? After the question for the culture controversy, we need to avoid this one I think Lipster is hilarous, and I believe I've seen it in articles about Lana. I always believed we are the Kids from Love Lyrics. Oh, and what about COOC Teasers ?

In Summer Bummer : Hip-hop in the summer Don't be Obama, babe (Instead of "Don't be a bummer, babe". ) I always hear it even though I've always known it was bummer.

Blue Banisters - Pre-Pre-Release Thread

Everyone suppose this is an original song album but wouldn't it make more sense that she might release the cover album just after COCC since it was promised just before. Maybe it's only a simple digital release. That would also explain the selfie as album cover and weird release date. After all, if she covered mostly soft rock songs or did them in that style, the title would totally make sense. Ok the "I want revenge" comment doesn't make sense with that theory so I must be wrong but who knows. Then I'de take an UV 2.0 with angry lyrics and a Californian rock sound produced by Zack Dawes anytime. -

Well I never noticed Hope (I have to listen again) but it blends magically into Let me love you like a woman. The intro sounds like an encore to that song with the same chords and it changes drastically when the first verse begins to finally become it's own song. Has anyone else noticed ? -
Anyone else ear an interpolation of The Greatest during the Chorus ? After all they did sample How to disappear in Wild at heart. @Barry Isn't it the song you think about ? The Greatest sounded pretty much Beatle-y to me
-
The How to disappear Interpolation (sample) was so surprising. I love how this album is so cohesive but also references her other albums both musically and lyrically.

Like pepsi Cola

So did anyone else notice that in the pre-chorus she used the melody from the scraped verse from the Lust for life Demo ? The song is beautiful and fit so much in Chemtrails, lyric wise (I love how "We did it for free" mirror the For Free Cover), production wise, but also in term of vocal delivery. She was right when she said she wasn't there yet. She is there now !

There's also a National Anthem "video" that appeared associated with Girl Power (humm Ok ). It's been discussed here : I don't think Lana's team posted them. It just seems to be some new weird automatic functionality from youtube just like "... - Topic". It makes it look like a new video have been posted on her channel when it's not the case.
-
Well she said she was not there yet when she released LFL. That's why she kept it and said she would release it when the time would come. It seems that this song was an anticipation of the growth she has attained today. The song was waiting for her mother album to come to fruition. Really can't wait to hear it to confirm that intuition.

https://www.instagram.com/p/CMc957PhYWh/ The White Dress snippet from her instagram is giving me goosbumps. I've always been infatuated by Lana's voice but I swear she never put so much emotion on her delivery before (Plus the video seems so poetic) The reviews on the album are terrific this time again. It builds the momentum. I just can't wait to hear it. It is my first time resisting hearing it before release. I'm so proud of myself.. but god this is hard.

This version of Black Beauty was fake but I would die to hear a full version with proper pitch. It is so reminiscent of Video Games especially with the harp. I always imagine hear the song like that. EDIT : Just found a full version, but nevermind, it's very badly edited.

We did it for fun, we did it for free I did it for you, you did it for me We did it for the right reasons Yosemitee With all of those statements, she literally deserves us a free online concert. Please Lana play for freeeeeee. By the way, I didn't know this song but it sounds great and fits Lana perfectly.

"American Standards & Classics" Cover Album - Pre-Pre-Release Thread

I was a fan as a teenager. I though I was the only one here to know this song I used to think that if VB could actually sing she'd sound like Caroline Polacheck (see Charlift's Ghost tonight and Cool as Fire). -
Thank you ! Well to be honest, it's a very new perspective for me. But I read the lyrics of Don't Judge Me and an analysis of the video and all of a sudden it just made sense. It's like letting go of a burden (the systematic critic) by approching art differently If that makes sense I think Lana would benefit from that perspective if it was generalized.

I agree. What the song is about is very important. Even if the song and video are very straighforward and simple, they are quite touching and of good quality. It is not the earthquake that was Cellophane, but I don't think that she doesn't care about her art anymore. Didn't she do it for us ? Even if the song was dedicated to her lover at the time, I realize Cellophane could apply to the expectation that the song itself has created for FKA Twigs' career (full circle). Her oeuvre has been so increasingly poignant, impressive and avant garde that a good song is not enough anymore for the public (me included). I think that it's healthy that she let her hair down for this album. Can you believe that she learned to master multiple new activities for this Magadalene, each especially for one music video (lapdance for cellophane and wushu for Sad day) ? She put her health in danger for the Spike Jones Apple commercial to prouve she could be perfect. As a person of color she's been feeling all her life that she had to be perfect in order to be accepted. I remember her comment about high expectations, the fact that she felt she always had to be a Nubian Queen to be considered. In a way, this is perfectly linked with the theme of Don't judge me. Personally I'm deciding now to accept what the artist has to give for what is is without comparison. I realize that otherwise, it's just toxic energy. Same will go for Lana. If the artist delivers a masterpiece every time, it's great. If She/he doesn't but the work is still good, then let's enjoy it. Don't you think ? It's alway possible to go back to the masterpieces from time to time for comfort. Let's give them love either way, instead of hate and judgement of new work if it doesn't go our way

"American Standards & Classics" Cover Album - Pre-Pre-Release Thread

I swear Symphony in Blue with those lyrics is the most Lana Del Rey-Ish song released Pre-Lana Del Rey. It gives me The Blakest Day vibes : The cycle is complete because on first listen, that Lana song made me think of Kate Bush in term of sound, especially the Going Deeper and Deeper part. Rather die young by Beyonce is next, in terms of typical Lana lyrics. Can you make it more LDRish ? These lyrics sound straigh out of BTD (Blue Jeans, Off to the races,...). I was wondering if it was just a copy / hommage to Lana but I'm not sure Blue Jeans was already out when the song was recorded, they were released pretty close to each other.
