  1. @@Dominikx4 @@Nightmare thank you! I was sadly unaware of these boards existence at that time so im crazy glad that I wasn't subjected to that hahah. However, even though we all seem older and wiser, I feel like i hear knives sharpening in the distance if nothing happens, to which I'll take some of that blame cus im in total Hypeman mode. But its coming lads and lasses :)

  2. NFR Pre release era was an experience. Do you guys remember this iconic pre thread? I don't think I want to remember...

That thread was the reason I joined here. What an emotional Rollercoaster it was. I dont remember how many pages it was but I think it rivaled the Bible. This is a much more calming wait, definitely because Violet is so much more incredible than I was planning on. That is, unless this next week comes and goes, then we'll see what pandemonium starts to bubble.

  3. She announced Norman exactly 1 month (31st of July) before the release. Lets pray for this August 5th!

This has been my basis for Chemtrails this whole time. I figured she really seems to hate eras haha and August brings the end of summer so she'll clearly operate all within a couple of weeks, and maybe roll out music videos into October. Not to put energy to it but i also see Chemtrails as a 2 video or less album. We shall see but if nothing happens August 5th then we're back in the great unknown.

  4. Hope for Yosemite is a dangerous thing to have, but we stan it.  :flop:

I have never heard anything by Zella Day. :$ Any suggestions what to listen to to get a good sense of her style?

Absolutely People are Strangers, Man on The Moon, Sweet Ophelia, 1965, Hypnotic. Zella Day is awesome

I'm not even getting my hopes up for Yosemite until it's confirmed. Like no way, thats our Great White Whale, we'll never have her until the sea is ready to give her to us.

  5. Well, I'm really not a fan of bullying at all so that's discouraging to see. The way I saw it, especially before it dropped, I figured this was going to be for the fans and more casual listeners were not gonna vibe. I mean, so many people even listen to poetry in the first place, speaking in a modern mainstream view. So I just figured the vitriol wouldn't be so bad, maybe I was just prepared for negativity. Now that its out, the craft behind it i think does deserve a wider view which in nature will bring out more casual listeners and reviewers. Yes i think that reviewer has this totally wrong, but maybe other more major publications will take a look at this as well. My thoughts haha,I dont have much planned today.

  6. Huh. I feel like the reviewer sort of missed the point of Violet. First calling all her music the same, so this should be as well, but then stating that it ruins the "camp" of Lana, citing lines from Salamander. I think Salamander is one of the most bombastic, and yet because of its theatrical aching, it reveals who Lana may actually be. Isn't this why we love her? An artist who 100% believes in her convictions and statements and way of life, even if they sound bleeding heart, or "camp". Also their statement that LA is the best poem is just a No. Its an incredible opener but to dismiss everything after it is just lazy writing.

One thing I loved about this project before it released was Lana's plaintive nature about it. "Theyre not trying to be anything more than what they are, and im especially proud because the nature in which they were written was very authentic" This was Lanas way of saying they are what they are, and sort or sucking the wind out of any accusation of pretentiousness. If you don't like them, shes fine with it. Lastly, yes NFR was gold because it took Lanas stories and set them to an America on fire. Violet is not that project, and it wasn't supposed to come out in the heat of the country falling to pieces. So for the reviewer to suggest she's a newb poet for focusing on herself? Please. Shes a mysterious legend already and her fans got some serious peeks behind the curtain here and we love her for it. Woof, rant over.

  7. Ok :) ummm Salamander's instrumentals are a lot heavier on the NFR vibe then I thought and even though its a dark vibe, it sounds like something that would play right after it F*ck it i Love You. Its such a bleeding heart poem and so her. A scene as cliche as a car winding down a summer road is still fresh in her words. Damn Salamander is an undercover babe.

  8. Second listen through: Bare feet on Linoleum feels like such a dark harbinger. It gave off such sinister vibes and it would almost feel not of the same project if Paradise is Fragile didnt act as a solid transition into that kind of modern paranoia. Shes cutting those veggies with a butcher knife. And Sportcruiser-that shit just isn't fair. It is way too close to the heart in its first lines, becomes a deeply personal and beautiful tale of our Lana, and then crushes you again at the end. It is not fair and the showpiece of it all to me. Land of 1000 fires, what a BABE. Excellent. Salamander has actually changed for me and now I feel I need to sit with it. The picture it paints is darker than I felt in my initial listen and now my emotions are conflicted. This POET!

  9. Absolutely adore this...the raw, yet aesthetic and existential imagery, paired with the instrumentation that matches perfectly to each poem...10/10

LA Who Am I To Love You, Past the Bushes Cypress Thriving, SportCruiser, Quiet Waiter-Blue Forever, Paradise is Very Fragile, Bare Feet on Linoleum are my favorites.

Nailed it. Excellent taste. I think truly the only ones that weren't FIRE KNOCK OUTS were just Never To Heaven and What Happened When I Left You.

  10. THE EXPERIENCE!!! I cannot believe I cried. She found some way to make poems she wrote from recent to two years ago be so relatable to the point of voyeurism. Sportcruiser did it for me but they were all so unique. Jack was essential to this project. Tessa Dipietro is so funny, and SALAMANDER!!! UGHHH I knew I had a reason to suspect it, its one of the tops. Land of 1000 Fires is witchiness in a bottle and its a beauty, My Bedroom was so artful. I could keep going but I also want to read everyone's reactions so that's what I'm gonna do. This was BREATH TAKING

  11. @violets @HighbytheSea

ahhhh now I regret talking it up so much.

    :raven:

but i'd be lyin' if I kept hidin' the fact that I can't deal.

Just make sure you've got headphones in. You'll love it. You'll ALL LOVE IT. The tension on Bare Feet is almost palpable.

Oh no Sir do not feel bad. I have a thing where I basically decide I love something long before I witness it. This was a done deal way back when she put Happy up on insta. Still your words were great!! Copy that on the headphones!
