Taylor really said if Lana isn't promoting it, I willl . She has campaigned for Lana since 2019 (When she wanted Lana to win that Grammy). She has put Lana on her album having direct feature to get streams and exposure despite only barely being audible. Lana is also the only feature. And you can see how that has affected Lana. Ocean Blvd is full of unnecessary features tag. Taylor has literally been promoting Lana more than Lana herself atp. She has shown nothing but love. (Yet somehow some Lana stans continue to attack Taylor, I would shut up even if I h*te her just saying).

Fishtail’s beat sounds very nice not cheap at all. What cheap are the beats on Honeymoon. They sound too weak which is expected considering an elderly (Grandpa Nowels) was doing them. Honeymoon really needed to go twistier and much harder or remove the beats all together. The same can be said about Tulsa. That song is just too soft. I remember her preview of the song was so good (clearly it was because the speakers and the recording of it). The real song was flat. It needed more bass and punchier drops. Jack did not hold back on Fishtail and I prefer it over Tulsa .

After several listens: 1. A&W 2. Paris, Texas 3. Fishtail 4. Peppers 5. Candy Necklace 6. Taco Truck (alone) 7. Taco Truck x VB 8. Jon Batiste Interlude 9. Sweet 10. Kintsugi 11. The Grants 12. Ocean Blvd 13. Let The Light In 14. Grandfather 15. Margaret 16. Judah Smith Interlude 17. Fingertips Grandfather would have been so much higher but I just can’t stand her voice during the chorus? Climax? The whispery airy high voice is horrible but she keeps using it. The hissing hurts my ears . Text Book is the same way. Candy Necklace too tbh but somehow it works in that song and it definitely does not sound as hissy. Anyway, it’s so hard to rank songs. Things shift every other listens .

This fanfiction. Honeymoon was her worst performing album by that point (and still is if you omit COCC and BB). Lust For Life resurrected her commercially. The singles performed well. The album too. Not to mention a Grammy nomination. If you’re talking about debut numbers, yes it was lower (by a few thousands) but it ended selling much better than Honeymoon overall. Norman debuted even lower. It’s now one of her best selling albums. Honeymoon was her worst selling album pre-NFR.

I don’t understand why they did this (which is essentially a listening party). For a preview article, that make sense since that’s what these events are for. Think movies, game releases. Publishers would invite journalists to these events to write articles about a movie or game coming out. It’s part of the “roll out” campaign. Warner bros is notorious for inviting critics to dinner parties or cruises before seeing the movie they suppose to review lol. Sony also likes to invite press to events and shower them with gifts for their upcoming games. For a full review, they usually send them the game and let the critics have their time with it weeks, sometimes a month in advance depending on the length of the game. There’s gotta be a miscommunication somewhere because this is weird. Why didn’t they wait and let critics review the album normally. Although maybe come to think of it, they don’t care about the scores but they just want articles about the album? There’s a big possibility that the album wouldn’t get as many reviews if they just let it runs its course on release day. People wouldn’t care enough to review it. People don’t care to write anymore actually. Music journalism is dying. There are not as many reviews anymore. Not as many sites. Not as many reviewers. You don’t really get people writing think pieces about music anymore. They are essentially forcing people to write about it. Maybe that’s why or maybe her label is just a disaster and made a big mistake .
