Downloaded the l3aks . Played a bit of Fishtail already just to make sure it wasn’t fake. I don’t know whether I should continue or wait for release day. I waited because I thought this album would be special. The reviews are making me reconsider . I listened to COCC and BB leaks with no problems because honestly I did not care for those releases.

BTD had the same pre-release as this album (3 month span). 3 singles were out before the album release in January 2012. Video Games the first single (Out in October) was a WW hit phenomenon around world. Blue Jeans as a B-Side was a moderate hit around the world as well. Born To Die single launched in December went top 10 all over the globe. These were pre release singles. What do you mean the album isn’t out? Exactly, post NFR. Even Love charted better. For something to be game changing or iconic, it needs both or one of the two (acclaim or success). BTD was hugely successful that it get retroactive acclaim through the years. NFR wasn’t a commercial success. The singles performed much worse compared to Lust For Life and the opening sales were lower too but the acclaim transformed it into a sleeper hit. It’s her second most streamed album at this point.

No, I spilled. She scarified her commercial sound to appeal to critics and pretends she doesn’t care, but she does and gets mad when the reviews are negative. It’s a lost lost situation where she lost her commercial appeal only to get middling reviews anyways. They sent the album super early expecting great reviews I’m sure . The fact that she’s also perched on Instagram posting just as reviews dropped. Oh, Lana don’t make that face. It would be so much better for her to make bops for fans to enjoy then to cosplay poet and be artsy fartsy…like for what? You’re still getting zero Grammys.

It’s going to be sad that this will be another middling album from her. Forgotten with low sales, no acclaim, zero attention from the Grammys. It’s worse because she is trying it with these tracks length thinking that critics will eat it up because it’s anti-trends and anti TikTok. Now it’s getting middling reviews. The album being uncommercial as it is won’t be seeing good streams either.

I still haven’t listened to the album (waiting for release day ) but I’ve read people’s opinions and descriptions. I’ve always thought Lana is letting the praise she got as “song writer” gets into her head a little bit. It was evident with that weird poetry book and her recent songs being melodic messes compared to her earlier work. Too much focus on lyrics less so on the music itself. That W magazine interview about Fingertips and automatic writing got me worried. She’s in her bubble a little too much. I hope the album gets panned even more simply because she needs a wake up call to make accessible music again. She’s still a mainstream commercial artist. You’re not Bjork. You’re not making music for a 500 people art gallery (if she thinks she is, well time to quit her label and go independent). You’re making music for millions. Also, her stans mentality of her being this artiste (not caring about sales, etc) irks me too. Also, this whole thing reminds me of Lorde during the Solar Power era. They were expecting acclaim for that album and got the opposite . It was hilarious. Reading through the email updates? or whatever leading up to that album, you can tell Lorde was in her little (Antarctic faux environmentalist) bubble as well. She really convinced herself she was making the ultimate art form with that album. I just know that Lana convinced her self 6 minutes songs are art (as do some of her stans here). Maybe one song but an album full of lengthy tracks might not be the best idea. Standards exist for a good reason. I’m super happy critics are dragging those interludes. She thought she ate with that. There’s no point in making interludes as long as full length tracks. Zero reason. Also, loads of critics like the experimental unbothered nature of the album but as a listen not very enjoyable. Common thread among all of the reviews. Side note: I know I’m being critical rn but my opinions could change after hearing the album .

She’s in her critically PANNED era again, so I’m expecting commercial success. Side note: COCC and BB were extremely overrated. I don’t understand why these two albums are rated higher than (BTD, UV, HM, etc). Critical praise equals flop. Keep in mind, NFR was a flop initially compared to her other albums too.

It’s undiagnosed ment0l illn3$$. It’s on to the next thing on to the next thing one after another. Remember Cherry Blossom? Remember The Grants? WEDDINGS! FUNERALS! (Now no one cares, “bad single choice”, blah blah blah) It’s nothing to do with music. It’s something darker. The leakers and the leak beggars are the same people. Endless desire of exclusivity. Thirst never quenched. Candy Necklace is the most exclusive thing right now.
