I doubt she would have put a vocal duet with her ex on that album. I think the only reason she chose his collaborations was because they tied into the “home/garden” theme and the motherhood concept. Blue Banisters paints a picture of her Utopia. A quiet life with a reliable partner and children of her own, along with a real mother figure (maybe even becoming a mother figure herself) which to this day is an unfulfilled wish of hers. Fine China, I Can Fly and Yes to Heaven sort of lean more towards the side of being left at the altar or another failed relationship/engagement and I think she decided not to put them on there to focus on something else, something more hopeful.

You can tell how fucking unbothered Lana was with Blue Banisters. I feel like she realized at some point during the recording process that she wouldn’t have enough material for a whole album ready and just decided to fill it up with demos that worked contextually somehow… That album is an EP, in my eyes.

Speaking of Hawaiian Tropic: Will we ever get the full unchopped version of 1949? That song trilogy is kind of iconic. It’s a shame we never got the full thing.
-
The drum track is what throws me off. It doesn’t sound like a typical Rick Nowels drum track.
-
Also You & Me! That song is a whole mystery to me. It sounds so much like something from Born to Die but it barely matches any of her collaborators from back then.
-
Thank you!!! Hopefully one day we’ll know the producers of the remaining songs. My unreleased collection needs to be flawless!

@BlackoutZone sorry to bother you again, sweetie but do you happen to know who produced the following songs? You and Me Crazy for You California (2014) Back to tha Basics Fake Diamond
-
Every incarnation of the song is better than the chaotic mess that was released in the end. I think that’s one of the song she should have saved for a later project.
-
The best version that is simultaneously the worst song on Born to Die!
-
Born to Die wouldn’t have been the cohesive masterpiece if it wasn’t for the reworks. I agree, however, that it led to some songs being worse than their OG demos.
-
Miss Honeymouns, dat you? Please tell me, I can still hope for a proper final version of Fine China.
-
No wonder they put the wrong mix on some of the vinyls…
-
@BlackoutZone Thank you so much for coming here to finally give us lots of exciting info and to clear up some of the mess! This is the most excited and interested I have been in Lana for a while. ❤️ I would like to know more about the producers of some of the demos we have: You and Me Fake Diamond Back to tha Basics Unidentified Flying Bill California (2014/5) Crazy for You Valley of the Dolls Thank you so much in advance!

If it isn’t the same, then the Radio Mix is very close to the demo.

Black Beauty was the label's lead single choice too. They didn’t like West Coast. They ended up releasing Black Beauty pretty much independently long after Lana had given up on the album.

This was in late January 2013, so the early recording process of what would end up becoming UV and its outtakes:
-
We also have this obscure "Trans-Am" title. That may have been a working title for the scrapped UV material. Lana had a song book lying around in the pictures she posted of her in the studio back in 2013.
-
No. The song was called Melancholia and was later changed to work as title track for the album title she later settled on. She explained this in the UV track by track commentary.

Maybe this will help:

Yes!!! This is the interview I meant. I'm not sure if it was this or another one where she also said that the working title was "Music to Watch Boys to". -

I would still vote for Crazy for You, don't worry. I don't want another California in my library for now.
