i’m still gonna continue manifesting uv 2.0 :true:

since lana is pushing 40 she’s obviously not gonna sing about codependent relationships and recklessness and etc. but that doesn’t mean she can’t have a psychedelic rock or cinematic jazz or trip hop production

This. Also, I remember when she put out Lust for Life she said something along the lines of it being the closing chapter of the BTD-persona.

Since this is her fourth lame album, maybe this will be the closing chapter of hillbilly-Lana and she‘ll come up with something new next.

missed the last few hours on lanaboards but just as i expected you are all unanimously agreeing that this is an incredible song!! it looks like nobody is criticizing it or how exciting it is, just like we usually don’t criticize her work, i’m so glad we continue to always agree with each other and never make any negative comments about lana, her producers, or her music. this community really is so special because of how much we get along with each other and because our opinions are so similar❤️

all she needs is a change of location and she’ll give us an extravagant era and visuals :true:

She also needs a change in terms of co-writers and producers while we‘re at it. She won’t make exciting videos for these laidback folk ballads. Chemtrails is probably the only instance where she did that and it’s honestly weird cause the video works better for a song like Cherry or something.

okay, i don’t know what people expect from her. unless a miracle happens, her sound is going to remain relatively consistent from now until the end of her career, it’s just fact, she’s not in her 20s anymore and going through new creative phases every few months like she used to be. if you don’t like that then maybe lana isn’t the artist for you anymore. you can’t look to her for “eras” anymore, you can’t look to her for a new sound every album anymore, you can’t look to her for extravagant visuals, etc etc. she’s done all of that, she’s given us all of that. you’re stanning a nearly 40 year old woman not a 22 year old!

Madonna is almost 70 and you can still expect that from her. Gaga isn’t much younger than Lana and still comes up with something new for every album.

I don’t think age matters. I think Lana in general has just burnt out a bit or has stopped giving a shit about production that deviates from her other releases.

is "boring" because YOU don't like it? Sit down, my dear. Your tastes are not law.

It’s boring TO ME. Whether you like it or not is your thing.

in their defense, they're just stating that THEY think it's boring, they're not stating it as fact

Thank you. It seems people fail to understand that (still).

i didn't read it that way, i don't feel like they have to explicitly say "my personal belief is that it's boring", just simply describing something as "boring" is not necessarily the same as "it is a fact that this is boring and if you think otherwise you're wrong", regardless of how we feel about their opinion, we shouldn't twist their words

    Thank you!

well how is that different than people raving about this song and calling it a masterpiece? it’s clear we’re all discussing our opinion, no one is insinuating that their opinion is a fact

Exactly but this happens on every forum. Voicing a negative opinion a few hours after the release will always have these kind of aggressive reactions. In a few months more people will probably start saying more negative things cause the hype has died down.

  6. I’m sick of her music to be honest. I know this new album will just be another singer-songwriter album and I can’t deal with another crappy album like that. Enough is enough! Actually, I hate to say it but had this album leaked after it was stolen from her car, we may have gotten something else with a different direction. Disappointing.

I think she's portraying Dionysus on Billions, tho.

Not exactly Dionysus himself but she is referencing his cult, yes. I was talking about the single cover though. She's holding cornucopia which is mostly linked to Hades/Pluto but also Demeter (Persephone’s mother) who was the goddess of harvest.

  8. Did anyone else notice the “Vesuvius” sticker on the cover?

    Quote

Mount Vesuvius was regarded by the Greeks and Romans as being sacred to the hero and demigod Hercules/Heracles, and the town of Herculaneum, built at its base, was named after him. The mountain is also named after Hercules in a less direct manner: he was the son of the god Zeus and Alcmene of Thebes.

She portrayed Persephone in the “So Hot You’re Hurting My Feelings” video and she also portrays her on the Billions cover, as the cornucopia she is holding is both a symbol of wealth and Hades himself.
I truly love all the very detailed references to greek mythology especially during this era. I’m such a geek for that shit and it’s making me scream internally.

High By The Beach is one of her worst songs and such an awful introduction to Honeymoon. It sounds like a parody of herself. It's super generic and the only people who love that song are the same ones who think that Born To Die and Summertime Sadness are hee best songs. The video sucks too.

    Oh this spill!

I will also say that Honeymoon in general is probably her most overrated album. Stans rank it so high because it has this elusive/underdog quality to it. Every artist has an album that wasn’t well-received in the beginning and has therefore been shunned by the artists themselves. The stans always end up romanticizing these albums as „overlooked masterpieces“ despite most of them being a result of lack of inspiration/passion or just not of the same quality as the predecessors.

    Honeymoon is Lana's ARTPOP/Witness/Sweetener

  10. This album made a stan. It was quite a different time in my life but looking back, I had so much less to worry about and Lana’s music enriched my life like nothing else ever did. I am forever thankful to have discovered her around that time.

this is her comeback single? :bye:

Nah just a soundtrack single to keep the Navy from suffering further starvation.

Sadly, it’s very very boring. I'm pretty sure she'll release the actual first single of her new album some time around the SuperBowl.

And she’s what..? 30 years younger than Madonna?

  13. This song is absolutely terrible and it really showcases how there is not only worlds but galaxies between Lana’s and Taylor’s songwriting. Taylor likes to write pseudo-deep song with extremely corny metaphors in an attempt to emulate Lana. It’s very embarrassing.

Sadly, she gets far more recognition for her subpar songwriting.
