That why they are being hoarded. People think they own these files cause it helps them trade in exchange for material by their other faves.

there are still 318 more vversions of Lust for Life btw... i hope there is finalized version with lfl Demo 1 spacey and dreamy sound... also its pretty interesting when weeknd started to have feat on it

Most of them are just mixes of the same core versions with only slightly adjusted things that aren’t really noticeable.

Kind of how those alt. mixes of Gramma sound almost identical.

Omg even if it's just a few more screenshots of the setup (like movement number, work name, whatever) - that could help me figure my shit out lmfao

Beautiful of course. I tried figuring out how to use the work and movement thing but couldn't and gave up lol idk what I was doing wrong

I could write a tutorial if anyone's interested. It’s really not as hard as it seems but I agree that it takes a while to figure it out.

Did you make the cover arts yourself? :hdu: I love those Quiet Now and The Phenomena ones.

Sorting unreleased by producer would be difficult for me– what about the songs with co-producers, or unknown credits?– but I stan the effort :defeated:

Quiet Now, Sires and From the End are not mine. The other ones are my creations. 🤗

Not sure if this is the best thread to ask this in but how do you guys organize your unreleased? Do you do it by year, as a “b-side” of a certain album, or make your own “albums”?I’m having a hard time figuring out how to order mine.

I have an unreleased collection for each year. They usually coincide with the eras. Within those albums, I use “work and movement” in Apple Music/iTunes to also separate them by producer, so I know what sessions the songs usually belong to. Alternatively, you could also make multiple discs belonging to one album. However, that won’t allow you to add additional titles for each disc.

    Here are some examples:

    82-D3-BCC9-330-C-4431-8-B3-D-2038-E77098

    The flowers represent the eras:

blue and pink hydrangea - UV

    red flower - HM

    daisy - LFL

Here are some examples of how it looks like on my phone:

    8-FF39996-3949-4842-830-D-11862-AAB47-D6

    234-B2577-34-E5-4-A4-A-B971-D72-DA35-B12

Additionally, I have attached her unreleased, pre-AKA albums/EPs/mixtapes at the end of my Lana library:

Maybe if her sellout era didn't flop into oblivion, we wouldn't be stuck in this conversation.

At this point this is all just CAMP. I mean, the thread.

We need the early songs on Spotify so they can go viral and free her!!

Her pre-NTMT music was dreadful and it was clear as day that the label wanted to push her into that genre.

I think the whole situation with Sky and Capitol is a deadlock. I’m no Sky apologist, I believe she's partially at fault but seeing how the same label has handled other female artists like Tinashe, Normani and even Halsey, I wouldn’t put it past them to hold Sky hostage in a way.

I believe that they are not willing to increase her budget if she refuses to make an album according to their wishes. I also believe that she doesn’t like the album she recorded so far. It really sounds like mixed bag and a bleached version of NTMT. Far more mainstream and less grungy. I think they are still having disputes and she can’t afford getting out of her record deal.

Like I said: deadlock. Her concert issues might be related to her lack budget. The musicians need to be paid, rehearsals, etc. I think she really is broke as fuck and stuck with a label who isn’t willing to promote or support her in any way cause she owes them money.

i dont really agree, by word "outtake" i mean song that ever was intended to be featured on a record, and i dont consider reused outakes from the past records as a part of any album (llke i dont consider living legend, cherry blossom, nectar as part of bb at all) and as for me i cant say about album, that was done before 2020, that its compilation, but i mean we can't take away the definition of outtakes out of her projects it just.... doesnt feel right, and at the end there are known strict lists of outtakes that can be made based on known facts, and ye im a pure purist so thats only thing to do for me to make it a little bit more classified based on pure facts again

I think if you’re a purist, you wouldn’t try to separate her recorded (and unreleased) material into outtakes, really. I have things sorted by year and producer. If I knew exactly the dates and the sessions I would go as far as separating them by that as well. To me, that is the only concrete thing that works for Lana, cause as I said before… She likes to go back to things that were originally done for different projects and revisit them, which is why the leaks of even old material pisses her off so much.

The word “outtake” means that it was an actual track done and finalized for inclusion on a certain album. With that in mind, that would not really work for a lot of her unreleased songs in an effective way. We know now that the final Rick Nowels demo of Fine China was mixed and mastered for inclusion on UV. That makes it a LEGIT outtake cause it was actually mixed and mastered and was only removed at the very last minute along with Yes to Heaven. Everything else somewhat falls between Born to Die and Ultraviolence and it’s so hard to tell what they were actually meant for. Because they belong to multiple projects.

@Surf Noir is it safe to say that Come When You Call Me A.M.E.R.I.C.A could be possibly considered as AKA outtake? it's like one of not many full-produced song from 2008 besides AKA itself, and idk this specific song has always bothered me wether to include it or not- at the end, it's a very strong idea, not just a random acapella demo

no, AKA's masters was done in january/february of 2008.

cum when you call me garbage was made after that, she was done working with david for AKA.

yeah i thought the same i just had an idea that she was coming back to it and do little changes as the album was released after almost 2 years it had been done but i guess david kahne's sessions are the only true aka outtakes atp

nah AKA Was done and mastered with David and just left to sit there for 2 years. anything she made after that wasn't really considered to be included on that album, i'm assuming whatever kind of deal she had was to really do that one album exclusively with David. either she didn't wanna go back and touch that project as it was made very cohesively or her deal/contract with David or 5 points didn't really allow her to do that. the laptops demos and other stuff she started making in 2008-2009 were all being considered for "album 2" / "LDR2" etc, and i bet that disgusting song cum when u call me murica was made with the next project in mind or just for fun

    2 hours ago, Coloringbooks said:

So a messy but interesting fact is that Lana actually wanted to add post-AKA/2008–09 songs to the album, prior to its release in January 2010, but her management at the time seemingly stopped this. I'm assuming tracks such as Hundred Dollar Bill and Diet Mountain Dew were possibly considered since they had already been written by that time, and she liked them enough to be major BTD contenders (with the latter obviously making it to the final album).

However, I definitely wouldn't consider any 2008–09 tracks written after the completion of AKA's original final masters to be legitimate outtakes from that album. They're just early BTD tbh.

I think what people need to let go off is the “Outtake from album XYZ”. I think what we can quintessentially get from this thread is that her recording process doesn’t really work that way.

She tends to go back to older and seemingly unrelated material quite a lot and seems to record things when she has some sort of inspirational rush. Then, when she feels that she has enough good material for an album she selects songs from the pool of recordings (old and new) and starts to weave them together through either reworking them or just leaving them as they are.

AKA is a reworked product of her actual debut material recorded with Steven Mertens and we know she wasn’t satisfied with the final result at all and frequently refers to the SM version as her “debut”.

Born to Die is a remixed compilation of old songs she recorded from 2010-2012 many of them coming from unrelated sessions and even songs potentially written for other artists at first.

Paradise is a selection of material recorded at the time her first album was nearing completion along with a bit of new material. A work-in-process EP, essentially.

Ultraviolence is a re-recording of several failed attempts of a proper sophomore album.

Honeymoon is an album that originally started as an additional EP for the UV re-release that evolved into a whole album after several attempts to have a remixed/redone by other producers.

Lust for Life is probably the first TRUE new album that was never linked or related to another project. She was seemingly very inspired at that time and had enough material for much more than just one album.

Norman Fucking Rockwell is again, a compilation of new material and a selection of song from previously failed projects.

Chemtrails Over the Country Club may very well be a compilation of NFR and LFL outtakes, some much older tracks (LMLYLAW) and a few new songs, all re-recorded and redone.

Blue Banisters…well you know. The same as Chemtrails but with minimal effort. :deadbanana:

Omg DICWB is probably in my Top 3 unreleased Lana songs. It makes me feel so nostalgic. Beautiful beautiful song!

From my understanding, Paradise and Tropico were two different projects she was working on at the same time.

Paradise - An extension of Born To Die.

Tropico - An EP that was evolved into an album, then later scrapped and turned into Ultraviolence.

If I had to pin-point the moment the "Tropico" concept was scrapped I would guess it would have actually been around maybe March/April 2013 when she created West Coast. It's very obvious that was a turning point in her sound considering everything made before that doesn't sound like the stuff after that.

I feel like everyone is just assuming the Tropico trio (BE, G&M, Bel Air) was meant to be in Tropico, but we also have no solid proof for that like we do some other songs, it would be weird for Lana to do that but it's also something she would do :toofunny:

I also don't think it was just a place-holder because it stuck around for so long, I'm thinking it was the true title until Tropico (Film) was fully realized and she changed it to an actual place-holder title which would have been 'Trans-Am' before making the final switch to 'Ultraviolence' but that's all speculation..

    ---

If I had to create a timeline out of what makes sense for me it would look something like this:

(Dates are when I think they would have actively been worked on)

Paradise (Random song version, including Hollywood's Dead, Damn You, Starry Eyed, JFK + others) [Feb 2012 - June 2012)

Tropico (Idea created + started recording songs for the intent of an album but was shut down by label for being too soon) [May 2012 - Dec 2012]

    Paradise (Final) [Apr 2012 - Aug 2012]

    -

    Tropico (Album / EP) [Aug 2012 - Feb 2013]

Tropico EP (The film trio + I Talk To Jesus) [May 2013 - Sep 2013]

Rick Nowels' Ultraviolence AKA Trans Am (Album) [June 2013 - Dec 2013]

Tropico EP (Final, removal of ITTJ) [Sep 2013 - Oct 2013]

    Ultraviolence (Final) [Dec 2013 - Mar 2014]

Yeah, I agree that the post-film Tropico was really just a relic by that time. The TROPICO concept was clearly a "spiritual" theme/concept and she left it as working title but I don't think she was gonna release another EP or album with that title after the film.

Also Trans-Am is interesting because the album visuals for ULTRAVIOLENCE are all centered around a car.

that’s what i find weird as well…like girl you are already very successful, why the embarrassing theatrics?

I think the fact that Reputation, Lover, Folklore and Evermore weren’t record-breaking albums with massively successful single-releases fucked with her brain.

She's a narcissist. Narcissists can't take defeat. They also can't stand seeing others be more popular or successful than themselves.

    Edit:

This acceptance speech is further proof of her blatant narcissism. She won AOTY for a second time over the clear POC-favorite, Kendrick Lamar (WHOM SHE EVEN USED ON A REMIX FOR HER OWN SINGLE TO INCREASE ITS POPULARITY AND SALES!!!). She didn’t take a moment to acknowledge him or her other competitors unlike Adele, who even said that Beyoncé deserved the win. Instead, she gave a speech filled with statistics about her being the only solo artist to win AOTY twice and applauded herself. Then, in classic Taylor fashion played the victim card again and acted like this was some huge triumph for women around the world. 🥴

Flash forward to 2022: She was dying to work with a director famous for groping women on set as well as his niece and is known for his disgusting attitude towards woman. This is the same woman that screamed FEMINISM when it benefited her and talked about how horrible influential men like her arch nemesis Scooter Braun treat women (mind you, she encouraged her fans to bully and threaten him online after he bought her masters). Interestingly, she spends a lot of time thinking about how to take down her female peers with shady actions and antics. If you stan her, you stan the bully. The mean girl from high school who has dirt on everyone and who no one seems to dare to speak up against!

yeah i Just read BOZ's post like twice and came to conclusion that this is how thing goes, and tbh i personally gonna take boz opinion on it, no matter what tracklist honeymouns posted, yeah he is reliable for sure not telling, but this is what i was confused in also, and from the boz posts understood that there were many concepts tropico went through and eventually became an ep using only patadise tracks since she wasnt feel that her her tropico album finished and she had to just use patadise tracks but for already New aestheticks (tropico film is) and move and think about different aestheticks for her lp2 aka ultaviolence, so idk what tracklist was it that honeymouns posted, was it earlier than tropico, if it was later then why would she use i dont wanna go or starry eyed that was entirely for patadise..u know

(this is what i understood about this tropico situation that i think is accurate recarding bozs posts)

She first mentioned “Tropico” in the description of the original Bel Air visualizer that was released in November 2012.

"i lost my reputation, i forgot my truth. But i have my beauty and i have my youth. Tropico the film, coming next year".

Then, during an interview she mentioned that Cola was going to be the second single from Paradise but that she also really wants to shoot videos for Gods & Monsters and Bel Air.

Later she said (I think it was on one of her tour dates) that she will be shooting a video for BE, G&M and BA because they tell a story together.

IF Tropico was ever an album title, it must have already been axed by November 2012. The EP that was released later was an accompaniment to the film, obviously. Releasing an EP with new material would not make sense at all. I think that Tropico was a “place-holder” working title possibly like “Trans-Am” because it reflected a soundscape or a theme she wanted to possibly incorporate into the songs she was recording.

  12. At this point…just leak the album, so we don’t have to bother with Sky's delusional coke-filled ass any longer.

Maybe, having the album leaked will give her the opportunity to move on and do something else.

Im exaggerating, it’s still one of my favs but there were some interesting production choices… the ear bleeding title track string opening :burn: could they have not double layered two different set of strings?

Are you sure you haven’t been listening to a damaged copy or a karaoke remake version of the album?

I literally don’t hear any of the stuff you’re criticizing. Born to Die probably has the most elaborate production of all of her albums.

  14. 28 minutes ago, evalionisameme said:

I love Lana but Born to Die aged like milk, everything is great about it except the production-the drums sound really fake and the production is tinny overall.

Its still an album I can appreciate especially because I loved it at the time but Aka was the better debut in retrospect.

Blue Jeans and video games are outliers to this weirdly with strong producing.

I never liked Solar power so won’t comment

It did age a little but overall it still didn't age nearly as much as Lorde's album.

BTD was meant to have a bit of a hip hop vibe. It's clearly not supposed to be as organic as Ultraviolence but it's a cohesive yet varied sounding album. The fact she even bothered to tie songs from entirely different recording sessions together through Emile's cinematic, yet modern production is the reason she is still here.

I agree the album is overplayed at this point but saying that it aged like milk is just not true.

  15. 4 minutes ago, evalionisameme said:

But the style had been done before-

The cure was making music like this in the 80s :toofunny:  both the pop and punk parts.
You could argue perspective given that she’s a woman doing the sound but even still.

Pure Heroine atleast came with the Lana wave and gave a more realistic perspective on teen issues whilst being inspired.

    And?

She released an album like that with a modern twist in 2013. None of her peers or anyone else made music like that back then. It was a bold move especially since her label constantly tried to push her into the synth pop niche.

Pure Heroine got the roses that Born to Die should have gotten. Lorde has a few good songs, I'll give her that but her discography as a whole isn't ALL THAT and she rightfully fell off with album #3.

I like the album but the ghost EP was much better-

NTMT has highlights like title track, not the one etc but it’s also not really that unique or lyrically great.

I’ve seen it be compared to TR and Pure heroine before but I honestly think True Romance decimates both quality wise.

Please…Night Time My Time was totally ahead of its time and while I agree that there are a few good songs on Ghost, they can’t touch the cohesive masterpiece that is NTMT. That album was THE perfect mix of angsty punk mixed with 80s pop. It was fantastic.

pfft she is such an ungrateful brat it makes me furious, just because ntmt was acclaimed she thinks she is some hot shit and deserves millions of budget but still wants her image and videos to look "lofi indie low budget heroin chic"... she is so fucking inauthentic. feeling entitled to that whole style to the point of shading nobodies for being inspired and rehashing it. but refusing to shoot a video on an iphone even though dozens of artists from lana to selena to gaga shot videos on an iphone. her entire musical style and persona is a shtick. she still remains that spoiled brat. if u want to be that girl then you have to accept that ur label isn't going to pour all their money into you. they dont trust u cause u are untrustworthy. if u don't like it then start making tiktok ready radio fodder. she thinks she is a fucking genius. pitchfork and her fans gassed her up so much over a mediocre album a decade ago. she thinks she doesn't have anything else to prove... girl that was a decade ago!!

her label lets her release whatever she wants whenever she wants as evidenced by dont forget and the many release dates she pulled out of her ass cause she couldn't fucking be done with that video and in the end the song came out and the video is still nowhere to be seen cause she isn't happy with it and cant be arsed. her saying "i feel like a 10 year old" in that interview. yes girl you behave like one.

    This meltdown…chile.

It's not her fault she accidentally released the best indie/alt girl album aside from BTD.
