Oh my god her NPR Tiny Desk is brilliant. I’ve not paid any attention to her before today, and I’m going to check out her music now. The voice! The lyrics! The LOOK! I’m gagged.

I think the pose is resembling of the kind of highly exaggerated displays you find in museums of cowboys etc. Their poses unrealistic and intensely heroic. Also she seems to be playing into the pageantry that comes with this western culture - hence the dramatic, unrealistic and camp pose. But you’re allowed to think it looks unrealistic, this is just my interpretation of the pose

I really like this album I’m not the biggest fan of star-crossed, however her first three albums are my holy grails. This is good, not as good as the others I don’t think but feels more natural than star-crossed. Deeper Well is the best track. I wish that the songs were longer, but the production is so beautiful and the lyrics are simple yet touching. Other favourites are The Architect, Cardinal, Giver / Taker and Lonely Millionaire. I hope in the future she brings back some more of that society-centred writing like she had with Pageant Material/Merry ‘go Round etc because she does it so well! Her personal songs sometimes feel a bit same-y for me.

pretty sure charli values her artistic integrity and identity more than money lol considering she still has all those songs paying into her bank account daily
