  1. remember when Ride came out and on pretty much every lyric site it said "I look up to hear myself saying, baby, too much strive, I just ride" in diet mountain dew I was convinced she was singing "baby stopping at ~some posh french name~ (something like shumura l'evin), baring his work in new york, heaven" and I had this image of her and her painter-boyfriend driving to an art exhibition were he was showing his paintings which fit with what I misheard in Blue Jeans which was "love you more, than those pictures before" because she was like "I don't love you because you're an artist, I love you because you're you~". For such a long time I thought all her songs was about a boyfriend who was a failed painter ("well shit at least you tried") who turned to selling drugs
  2. Doesn't "baby daddy" mean the person who is the father of your child?
  3. It's so weird to me that she has instagram, I always thought it was part of her vision to have a sort of vintage-y fame, like Sinatra and idk, Rita Hayworth or whatever, like... being famous in an almost untouchable way, and not that people don't write about you (people wrote crap about celebrities in the 50's too so) but that you don't expose who you are completely and people don't have direct access to you and that you have an air of mystery around you which isn't common anymore since most celebrities are aiming for the down-to-earth, "I'm just like my fans, my fans are family <3333" image. I mean, instagram is more of an optional social networking service, not like twitter, facebook or youtube which you need more as a celebrity to be able to reach out to people and instagram just seems so exposing. I can't remember where I was going with this anymore and she'll probably use instagram as sparingly as everything else but it still surprised me
  4. It's because she's re-using old themes/phrases (diamonds, bel air), it's autotuned, "He's my sun, he makes me shine like diamonds" is cringey and the chorus is cheesy as fuck. I love it though
  5. She's eligible as long as the song hasn't been released prior to the film. The snippet we heard was a work in progress, so I believe it doesn't count (she's still eligible for a Golden Globe at least; Taylor Swift's Safe and Sound was a work in progress before she was approached to do the soundtrack, but she did however not sing a snippet on radio and I think she only mentioned this after the awards, but did Lana say specifically that it was written for Paradise? I seem to recall that she said it was something she was working on.) 2011 Oscar's rules: (ctrl+f "original song", second result) "Original Song: An original song consists of words and music, both of which are original and written specifically for the motion picture. There must be a clearly audible, intelligible, substantive rendition (not necessarily visually presented) of both lyric and melody, used in the body of the motion picture or as the first music cue in the end credits. " I think there's quite a big chance she'll get an Oscar for this, and maybe a Golden Globe and a Grammy too (but then I thought she'd got nominated for a Grammy this year). I wonder if this is why they played her song so often in the film and why Luhrmann said it was written specifically for Gatsby...
  6. I hope it's not literal because wearing grills is tacky But lanalysis wise it sort of makes "sense", golden grills is a K-thing, so when she wore one gold/diamond tooth it was honoring K just like how the two tears were in solidarity of the double homicide. (in my mind at least) And the toe ring is a symbol of being a recovering alcoholic
  7. This is probably nothing but I was thinking about it last night; in Butterflies pt 2 she sings "He puts on “Lola” by The Kinks and he dances ‘round" and if you listen to Lola the hook in the song is "la-la-la-la Lola la-la-la-la Lola" which sort of reminds me of the "ah-ah-ah-ah..." bit in Dark Paradise. They don't sound the same but there is something similar to it (which might just be me really wanting them to be similar), and before that part she sings "I'm lying in the ocean, singing your song.... ah-ah... that's how you sang it", and that she says "that's how you sang it" insinuates that he sang it differently from the actual version.
  8. queen of disaster needs to be added
  9. apparently if you look a lot like your partner it means that you were meant to be
  10. Has the question on who Ray is been answered yet? 'Cause this is Ray Neu: It was mentioned way back in the Lizzy Grant Misc photos thread.
  11. All songs with trouble All songs with queen (I'm sure most, if not all of these have been mentioned already) 29 songs with queen and 15 songs with daddy
  12. david karp has a networth of $200 million and he hasn't even graduated high school role model
  13. Every song with daddy in it (I literally went through all the lyric-posts and searched for daddy )
  14. It was K gettin some diamonds for his national anthem
  15. That's true, but on her myspace she had the wrong starsign... but maybe that's what meth does to ya I feel like this should be an easy thing to look up on like... ancestry.com or something, but I can't find anything. God, this will keep me up at night
  16. How do we know that she didn't pretend to be a year older before 2010?
  17. That's why I wrote "she's wearing his guilt?" I was just expanding on the tattoo theory
  18. Urbandictionary: "Traditionally the tattoo tear signified that the wearer had killed someone. The meaning of the tattoo however can vary between ethnicity and region. For example in australia, a tattoo tear is sometimes forefully tattooed on an inmate who had sexually assualted a child. More recently the tattoo tear has come to mean a fellow family or gang member has dies while the wearer was incarcerated. If you do not fit any of these criteria don't get a tear tattoo." "the wearer had killed someone", she's wearing two tears which led me to think about Kill Kill. In For K she sings "double homicide". She's wearing his guilt? Also, it says on this website "If the teardrop tattoo is just in the form of an outline, it implies that a friend of the wearer was killed." She's said that most of her friends are dead. She also specified in For K "K's a friend of mine". So maybe she's not romantically linked to K But (gatsby-spoiler) don't two people die in gatsby?
  19. Such a bullshit magazine. They've written that "Del Rey is far from a great singer" but have praised Taylor Swift's vocals????? and they wrote "Queen B herself teams with André 3000 for a moodily downtempo version of Amy Winehouse's "Back to Black."" Anyone over the age of 15 that writes 'Queen B' about Beyoncé is clearly delusional and they actually thought her cover was good? They made a song about heartbreak sound like the soundtrack to cheap porn Blasphemy
  20. selena gomez is nr 32 she looks like she's 12 years old
  21. Who Radio is about haunts me I do think it's about Jimmy though, in Radio she sings "how do you like me now?" a line she also used in Get Drunk, and in GD she sings "I am sleeping with your best friend" and I loosely remember reading something about there being a triangle drama between Lana, Jimmy and some other dude. (Arthur?) It bothers me that in the HDB demo she sings "Ruby Tuesday's or Citco, I loved you then" and in Every Man Gets His Wish she sings "He found me waitressing at Ruby Tuesdays" and references a Chevy/Chevrolet in both but in This Is What Makes Us Girls she sings "Teachers said we'd never make it out alive" and back in EMGHS "You said I'd never make out outta here alive" It's like she's doing it on purpose to confuse us
  22. and lana means wool, her middlename is woolridge, she's king of herself, or religious leader of herself "I am my only God"
