  1. new review from the guardian: https://www.theguardian.com/books/2020/jul/29/lana-del-rey-poetry-debut-review-violet-bent-backwards-over-the-grass
  2. would love if she'd do a live where she read some more poems, or even a virtual reading for a bookstore...maybe even with jack's accompaniment?
  3. i wonder if she recorded them before jack was involved and bc they are so strong (emotionally) she didn't want to re-record
  4. one of the things i'm most impressed by is lana's reading of her poems– her pacing, pauses, intonations. makes sense to me that she'd be good at reading her work aloud bc of her musicianship, but she really managed to squeeze every drop of feeling from these readings.
  5. yeah i noticed this a few days ago when i was re-reading some of the poems– really makes it feel like a bridge into the cocc era
  6. first review that i've found (not very substantial though, imo): https://www.thelineofbestfit.com/reviews/albums/lana-del-rey-violet-bent-backwards-over-the-grass-review
  7. it'll be interesting to see how she uses white space on the page for her poems– like if she uses more then even a relatively short poem (1-2 pages) could end up being quite long what with line breaks and formatting etc
  8. this is my first LDR release on lanaboards and i know i'm gonna just be here refreshing for the next 24hrs looool
  9. would love a a dowload too plz!! when i try to play it (in U.S.) it just plays cinnamon girl instead
  10. agree, and i'm also interested to see how much revision has gone into the poems we've seen (n IG, in Vogue Italia etc). part of signing a book is doing revisions with an editor, so she may have also made significant changes to the manuscript since selling it to s&s. i do hope she'll do an in-depth interview for it's release.
  11. the witches of eastwick (bc i'm listening to the new season of you must remember this, which if you're an old hollywood fan you'll love). it was fun (cher, michelle pfeiffer, susan sarandon) but not as good as i'd hoped..also don't care for jack nicholson.
  12. agree that her advance was prob pretty big (bc it's poetry it makes it harder to guess but i'd say def $1 million-ish, possibly more)
  13. info re: the advance is from her most recent video where she announced violet's official release date (the one filmed in a parking lot)
  14. which poems are u most curious to hear based on title? i can't wait to hear tessa dipietro (a poem about a psychic? yes plz) and my bedroom is a sacred place now... (title is v evocative). edit: also quiet waiter blue forever bc it's one of my fav poems she's posted.
  15. moonstruck, which was very charming and '80s (cher's brooklyn italian accent is )
  16. glamorous country club world lol this song would be iconic i just know it
  17. not the men on this thread using their opinion of whether they'd hook up w her or not to comment on her looks...
