2020 USA Democratic Presidential General Election
Mer replied to graham4anything's topic in World News
My current prediction based on aggregate polling data and the latest news. -
I’m really hoping Dems grow the backbone and (if they win) use the House, Senate, and Presidency to brutally get their legislation through, the way the GOP did the last few years. No “reaching across the aisle” with a bunch of treasonous criminals who only won their positions bc of decades long Gerrymandering.
-
Additionally, I worry because with the nomination of these judges—and the fact that this generation (and the future) is moving further away from religion—we’re gonna end-up with a Supreme Court that does not represent the beliefs and needs of the people; and that sounds like the beginning of a fall into anarchy.
-
anyways, I wasn’t trying to goad anyone or make a joke. I understand this election cycle as been brutal, and many are likely tired of hearing how half the country wants to strip away their rights, bc their extreme beliefs say so. That was my intention behind the TW.

I will put a trigger warning in front of any group (religious or not) that is an extremist group, and lacks moderate members. Catholics aren’t an extremist group, but evangelicals are. I was raised catholic by my mother and there is a clear divide between what her church believes and what evangelicals believe—and it’s an ugly divide that Trump has managed to harbour to his side. By picking an anti-abortion, anti-gay rights candidate, Trump is working mainly to win their votes and their extreme views (only 3/10 Americans think Roe v. Wade should be overturned, while 100% of evangelicals do). No other group mentioned in relation to Barret or Trump is as extreme or as harmful as evangelicals.
-
She was the favorite among Evangelicals, and her nomination is an appeal to them by Trump. I put the trigger warning bc the evangelical group has caused harm to many, including religious minorities and LGBT+ communities.

TW: abortion, evangelicals, politics https://www.nytimes.com/2020/09/25/us/politics/amy-coney-barrett-supreme-court.html Amy Coney Barrett is a 7th Circuit Judge. She has publicly said all forms of abortion are “immoral”, has said she would vote to end the Affordable Care Act (Obamacare), and would undo gay marriage rights at a federal level. "vagina" is not gender-inclusive language, use ‘front hole’ instead.

Actually this comment reminded me of a paper I read by Rosenberg (he’s one of the leading sociologists of today) and he predicts that in the next couple decades, the left will move so far to the left and the right so far to the right, they’ll circle towards each other and create a mob like civilization—i.e. democracy is cannibalizing itself -
Now I’m equally as excited for the photographs as the poems themselves

Just checked my order status and it said delivery by Oct. 5th

What’s with all this talk about “it’s never going away”? Ofc it is. They said the same thing about polio and cholera. Yes, our way of life may change in a few ways (did you know Paris’s wide avenues is a result of limit cholera spread in the late 1800s?). Our airports may be more secure, and going thru the TSA may now include a temperature check as standard procedure. Our luggage will be sanitized thru checkpoints, and the general population may be more aware of hygiene and hand-washing; but we certainly won’t be living in fear (on a general level) after a vaccine is released—just look at how quickly NZ went back to normal in the few months they were covid free, with packed stadiums of 20,000 ppl!

I would assume smaller cities have lower ticket prices? Tbh you can pretty much get a cheap seat (around 80-100USD) anywhere in the US...but smaller cities may be more expensive, airfare wise! Good luck!!

I think everyone knows I’m not a fan, espc of this album, but that video was stunning. I’ve watched it 3 times since it was released. but does anyone else think this video should’ve been for “Replay” instead? It just seems to fit better w it thematically
