  1. Either is fine (or you can just enter a keyboard smash lol) I’m not sure why they require it tbh
  2. Hey everyone! I made a new personality quiz, so feel free to post your results with any feedback below! This quiz is much shorter than what I usually do because I’m a little burnt out from school, but hopefully someone enjoys it! https://uquiz.com/DlmnT5
  3. This might make sense with Tommy and why someone put “female rapper” in quotation marks—maybe it won’t include rap?
  4. I wonder which collabs (if any) will be released as singles. I could totally see the Tommy Genesis one being a fun little treat
  5. I started choking from laughing at this HELP
  6. Also I shouldn’t be embarrassed to admit this but I actually cried listening to the title track & I never do, much less with a song I don’t identify a ton with??? Maybe it’s just end-of-the-semester stress, but the song is just so raw. The vulnerability is palpable, and comparing herself to a forgotten tunnel in a world where millions feel they understand her is heartbreaking, really. It almost has an existential undertone like that of Landslide as well. It really goes to show how much she’s grown as an artist by being able to move people with fairly obscure, highly individualized life experiences in a—by many current literary standards—successful poetic fashion. I genuinely believe she’s making the music that fulfills her, and it’s really inspiring seeing how her old covers of tracks like Chelsea Hotel No. 2, Goodbye Kiss, etc. are reflected in her music today.
  7. I don’t know if this makes sense to anyone else (or if it’s been mentioned already), but I almost feel like TUOB is probably the MAC of the record, and I think that has really neat implications for the rest of LDR9. In my opinion, they both have a very timeless quality and include vulnerable declarations about her inner self and personal commitments. Though I never got a ton of replay from MAC, I still think it’s a lovely song with gorgeous lyrics with an almost spiritual undertone. Neither songs feel particularly showy to me, yet they don’t really need to be—they feel like conversations that come from a quiet, yearning place, and I think the production suits this spiritual quality. I don’t see myself returning to the title track a ton, but that’s mostly because it doesn’t resonate with me currently despite me thinking it’s some of her best lyricism. Although I was hoping for a noticeable change sonically for this song specifically (just a personal preference tbh), I still think it’s one of her best in a while!
  8. Does anyone have book recommendations for me? -I like high fantasy books that at are really immersive and have a magic element—the longer the better! I’m not a huge fan of super dark themes, though -I really enjoy more psychologically and emotionally relevant books as well (The Bell Jar, Girl Interrupted, etc.) I love a good poetry collection too. However, I’m open to other suggestions as well!
  9. OMG I just realized I can add TUOB to my LDR Song Combination personality quiz and post this week!!! I’ll also probably make a separate quiz for the entire record in March when the whole thing drops! Hopefully she’ll sprinkle some singles in between now and then
  10. I can’t tell whether The Grants will be a devastating and confessional track, a sweet tune for her family, or a fun addition that has some wacky elements (maybe lyrically or production-wise) to represent the different members of her family…much to think about
  11. I’m awful at recognizing faces, but they look similar to me, and your explanation makes perfect sense! Maybe the mystery is solved after all
  12. I guess we’ll see! If he’s on TUOB, I’m super excited to see what his contribution to the record was! I’m shocked we haven’t figured out his full identity either way Then again, she does typically like having 1 track ready for the next album when one record ends…
  13. Hold on….is that Ian guy on this record? If not, what were they making music for (and did we ever actually figure out definitively who he was? lol)
  14. Omg wait this is such a cool observation!! It reminds me of the “out of the black, into the blue” in Get Free leading into “you make me blue” at the close of NFR’s first track. Her mind
  15. OH i forgot to mention this, but my last-minute presentation I made today was based off of the work from a scientist from The ROCKEFELLER University in New York the snippet’s melody plagues my brain (in a good way), and I just know it’s going to rip me to shreds
  16. the start of TUOB reminds me of the very beginning (particularly 10 seconds or so) of this Lil Peep song lol Like, mostly just the exhausted-sounding breathing, soft strings, the slow thumping of the music, etc. Of course it changes pretty quickly but yeah! unrelated but I always forget she attended his concert like a month(?) before he passed
  17. my brain cannot process what’s happening in the thread I feel like I leave it for 2 hours & I’ve missed a decade worth of lore. also unrelated but how are we abbreviating this album? Have we decided?
  18. I’m 5 hours late, but I just saw BoZ’s tweets about A&W (assuming that’s the abbreviated title lol), and I’m so intrigued to hear it! As much as I love the soundscape and lyricism of the title track, I’m particularly excited for is what the “variety” on this record will be! I’m definitely expecting it to be really cohesive, but the features—particularly Tommy Genesis—have me thinking we’re going to be very surprised (in a good way)!! I definitely think we’ll see an extension of what he heard on Black Bathing Suit but possibly with more production and hip-hop influences! I almost feel the random Migos collab wish, sending *some* song to Pusha T for a remix, and including The Trio on the last record could be hints at what this record could sonically explore, especially in a Lana-esque fashion. We’re in for a fun ride!
