It hadn’t even crossed my mind that Sweet Carolina will transition into The Grants. Your mind @bluechemtrails !!! I absolutely love when she does this (such as with LFL to NFR). Like @salvatorelovesyou mentioned, I’m really curious what the closer will sound like, particularly with Lana deliberately mentioning to W Magazine that she gives an “Old Hollywood style” goodbye and thank-you at the end of her records. Also, it’s interesting thinking about her “goodbye” comment in the context of Sweet Carolina considering that the last line was, “Closer to you than your next breath, my dear.” I definitely will be paying attention to the closer for TUOB

If A&W really is sonically unique in Lana’s discography, I’d be super interested to hear a different version of it!

That’s just as exciting then! Lana has always placed a lot of emphasis on her lineage and family in general, so I would wager that she wants The Grants to be special and a respectable homage to those she loves, even more so with it being the opening track! I’m getting more hyped

I’m really interested to see why (iirc) BoZ had such positive remarks about this track. Didn’t he also say that he wished the album would have been titled The Grants, or was that someone else? Maybe unrealistic but I like the idea of it being almost sonically divided (while still maintaining cohesion) to represent the different people in her family as the song progresses. I’m imagining this quirky flow of production elements that all come together to make something full and pretty. We’ll see!

I was actually wondering about this this last night. If the work on TUOB is all recent, I’m wondering if the “bombastic” tracks are included…or if they came from the same sessions as the Norman and COCC tracks. His wording from that interview confused me a bit. If anyone has any insight on the recording timelines, maybe that will give us a clue

Apparently the “I thought” is “I’d fly” apparently I listened to that song over 1,000 times in 2021 and never caught it somehow..I still hear “thought” sometimes

In White Dress, I thought she sang… “‘I would still go back if I could do it all again,’ I thought.” I always thought it was funny since WD follows up NFR’s closer hope annd its, “I got to thinking that I thought.” I really was like..damn, she’s still thinking about thinking huh (all love though: they’re my favs on their respective records)
