I rarely have LDR-related dreams, but last night I fell asleep viewing LB. At the end of my dream, someone random I went to undergrad with (a Nicki Minaj stan actually) called me from a phone that randomly appeared, and he told me that Lana was ANGRY in this next record—like, tons of emphasis on the word Right before I got the call, someone was refusing to give her dog back to her, and she canceled her live performance on a small wooden canoe over it

….is he implying…a second album? having flashbacks to this

You read my mind! I completely agree. Thematically, I feel like she’s retained a lot of the same subject matter even though her approach to and frequency of certain themes has changed. For example.. 1. Family: Gramma -> Sweet Carolina 2. Substance Use: Carmen -> Fuck it I love you 3. Codependency: Ultraviolence -> Dealer 4. “Sexy”-Sounding Songs: PWYC -> Black Bathing Suit Also, I agree about not understanding the hesitancy about her aging or becoming an aunt, and I personally don’t think any of those statuses are even mutually exclusive with the themes many miss. She—like so many others that fall under her various statuses—contains multitudes after all, and her life and art really demonstrate this. Even sonically, I don’t feel like she’s necessarily boxed in, either (not that it’s a bad thing). She’s very recently expressed interest in working with Migos, just worked with Taylor Swift, reached out to Kali Uchis for a collab, etc. In the same way that we didn’t confine her to her former sound, I think we can acknowledge she’s more than capable of (and seems to desire) experimenting outside of her current soundscape. I mean, I feel like it’s expected that she would explore this route for a few records or so eventually: she’s been hinting at it for years (her covers of Chelsea Hotel No. 2, Goodbye Kiss, Knockin’ On Heavens Door, Tomorrow Never Came, Change, touches of AKA, etc.). I didn’t realize how long this was until now but I spent way too long typing it..oh well lol

Well, I can definitively say it’s probably my least favorite Swift album That being said, I really appreciate how she was able to sonically capture that hazy, sometimes delirious headspace that comes with staying up late for any number of reasons. You can tell it was deliberate, and—with some exceptions—is fairly consistent throughout. I like that she experimented a bit with this record as well! I hope the album grows on me, but I also recognize the overall sound and how it’s paired with the lyricism really isn’t my personal preference, but maybe that will change!

Can we legitimately try to do something if we see something new leak? Like as a joint effort—even if it’s just someone shooting her team a message? I don’t know

This is so awful I genuinely hope nothing from her record or book leaks. She seems so proud of both. I really hope followers of her art respect her wishes and also let her team know if they find a legitimate leak. I can’t imagine what her past few weeks have felt like.

That’s very true!!! I forgot how surprised we were about the announcement! If anything, that makes this even more interesting because—assuming the attacks were legit—that means this record might have some concrete dates set in place maybe Ben’s comments meant something after all.. I’m moving for better or worse lol

I’ve noticed a trend where—right before Lana announces something on Instagram—insiders seem to know beforehand. I seriously hope no one has access to her Instagram drafts, but it seems weirdly coincidental at this point unless there’s some album rollout schedule floating around (feels very unlikely given past events lol) I guess we’ll see. Anyways, the timing of this is just reinforcing that the “masterpiece” BoZ mentioned is likely about Lana after we eliminated most if not all of the other options—I seriously don’t know who else it would be about given his other tweets! We won!

I was slightly disappointed when I initially heard the news but am feeling neutral now. Maybe Lana was too busy to record a verse because she was making the LDR9 “masterpiece” LDR9/10 double release in December—start the countdowns!

I wonder if the lack of vocals was Lana or Taylor’s decision (or both?) Oh well

I’m not sure if this counts, but it’s quite possibly my favorite collaboration of all time Lana’s voice sounds gorgeous and fits the conversational lyricism so well, and Adam sounds so much like his father. I’ve never been a fan of duets in general, but this is my exception—such simple delivery but still so genuine and impactful (especially towards the end)

If I remember correctly, other LB users mentioned that he made some not-so-complimentary comments about Ellie recently, so it seems safe to say that the “masterpiece” comment is probably not about her!

You don’t need a reason to enjoy a specific song or artist At the end of the day, no one will hear a song with the exact same life experiences you’ve had, the same musical exposure that’s shaped your taste and other personal criteria, etc. Enjoy the art that makes you happy regardless of whether others appreciate it (That being said, it’s really nice that we can all relate to one mutual interest/appreciation on this site.)
