On the topic of the album, one thing I am absolutely perched for is seeing whether the name “Ian” is mentioned anywhere is the album’s credits (outside of general production of course) If he’s present on a single song, we get to know which song she claimed was “magic.” If he’s not present, then we’ll probably discuss his absence in a different thread

I love this observation! I think a good bit of TUOB reads well as a poem, and it definitely has that softer, conversational, and almost ambient-y feel like Violet. I almost wonder how much of Behind the Iron Gates would have correlated with this record had it not been stolen. If an audiobook for the collection of poems was in the works, it’s possible that—if she ever decides the complete it—we might hear aspects of TUOB in it. Completely agree about the taco truck btw

Something that really interests me is that more than one of Lana’s collaborators have emphasized the record sounding like water/the ocean multiple times now! It’s also intriguing given that Eclipse referenced HBTB when talking about the record as well. Lana always plucks aspects of her environment/nature and drops them into her art, and it also seems suiting that she’s a Cancer (a water sign) as well There are the obvious references to water, of course (like the Grandfather title), but I’m curious whether we’ll be able to readily identify this sonically without any preconceived ideas about the songs!

I really hope the new interludes on TUOB serve a similar purpose and have an impact on the record (positively)! Like, I won’t lie: Burnt Norton - Interlude is one of my favorites on Honeymoon—not because I listen to it a ton but because it was a really thoughtful addition to the record that may have gone overlooked for casual listeners. I’m sure the Judah & Jon interludes have major significance, particularly with them deliberately placed so close together; it’s a bold move, but I have a feeling there was definitely an intention behind it!

That’s a really good point! I feel like—for a lot of Lana’s records—a couple listens really help in getting to the core of the album’s “essence,” so to speak. TUOB is really interesting in the sense that we don’t really know what we’re getting ourselves into! I mean, if A&W hadn’t been described by Kintsugi, I would have never guessed we’d get something in that vein based off of the title track, thematically and sonically. Also, take Honeymoon, for example: hearing the title track and HBTB are totally different experiences, but they mesh so well (imo) in the context of the entire work. Even if we were to get 2 more singles, there’s a big possibility that we still wouldn’t have a great indication of the overall vibe—excited to find out!!

Whenever the album drops, I’ll probably turn off all of the lights in my room (maybe light a few candles) and listen with headphones I’m sure I’ll be on LB too! I really want to amplify that middle-of-the-night bedroom vibe that Neil seemed to be highlighting in his photoshoot with Lana. Then again, maybe I’ll think differently about my environment once I’ve heard the whole record

Something I’m excited for is that we have the opportunity to experience hearing DYKTTATUOB at the same time on LanaBoards! I really enjoyed listening to Blue Banisters with everyone when it dropped, and with so much fresh material on LDR9, I have a feeling our reactions will be even more enthused and shocked when it’s released! edit: maybe I picked a poor time to send this reply

Well, they moved Lana’s release date to Ellie’s album release date, so maybe they’re coordinating the singles too Genuinely, I’m not too sure lol. I think anything is possible at this point, but it would be an odd choice on her team’s part. Then again, it’s only a matter of time before we hear a new song if there’s a plan to release a single!

Taco Truck not having drums surprised me (particularly with it having the VB sample), but I’m excited nonetheless! It’s tough to tell whether it will be toned down or not since production credits don’t say a ton about the mixing/how emphasized the instrumental is, but I guess we’ll find out soon edit: IT HAS DRUMS
