stuck in my head for hours…underrated

so many gems on that album

I was wondering this as well! The only thing I can picture is something like a White Dress situation: some people found it to be unintelligible whispering, whereas others (like myself) found it to be one of her most emotive and moving works to date. I do agree, though, that these descriptions seem pretty incongruous even if one person likes/dislikes the song. I suppose we’ll find out! edit: @Fingertips our minds..

I hope so, but I’m doubtful—NFR is one of those albums with has equipped critics with unusually high (and rather specific) expectations. I can see it coming in second, though! That being said, as @Fingertips mentioned, I do think many fans (myself included, hopefully) will enjoy this record more. BoZ suggested that the album will do well in terms of critical acclaim despite him essentially viewing it as a 100/100, but he also stated Margaret and the interludes (iirc) might bring the score down. Then again, that’s just one person’s opinion, and BoZ’s issue with Margaret was merely Jack’s voice, so who knows. I can’t wait to see!

Kintsugi implied that (at least some of) the samples won’t simply be overlaid with Lana’s vocals—if I remember correctly, they said something along with lines of them not being as “obvious” as we expect! I really do hope the second half of the AK song gets included. The atmosphere is really nice and would suit reverb-heavy vocals in my opinion

I can’t wait until we hear this record in its entirety to get a good grasp on the overall mood she’s trying to convey! Insiders seem to have given mixed messages about the cohesion of the record, yet none of the statements have been remotely bad—BoZ even said he listens to Judah’s interlude when going through the record despite not caring for it. Given other comments from insiders, maybe what unifies the record is the fact that it is multifaceted in reflecting Lana’s inner world, regardless of how “contradictory” it seems. I’m not expecting a huge sonic shift, but I do think the tone of the record will vary considerably!

NFR was literally #1 for the LB survey asking which record was her “best” (not the “favorite,” per se, but still). The hate/praise probably balance out here in my opinion Anyways, I can’t wait for TUOB to sweep next year’s survey! I think excitement sometimes raises my expectations too high, but really, I think we’re going to be surprised either way—this seems to be a really unique record that explores many themes/sounds, so if nothing else, I think we’ll all take away a “favorite” from the record Edit: @Morningcrow our minds..
