Seeing her as herself at the start of the video really solidified my dislike for the alien gargoyle costume, she’s always been so facially expressive in her music videos I miss that, Void is one of my fave songs from the album but oof…that video 

The way this era is even more underwhelming than K-12… how is she gonna drop two videos and call it quits? 
 
In September we will be already bored… as much as she complaints about leaks, that’s the only thing that keeps this fandom ALIVE…

Exactly. These videos were probably intended to be placeholders that are nice to look at, but have little to no plot or substance because she's "saving that for the movie"(that most of her fans don't even want now that she's cutting quality elsewhere to make room for it).
 
I get that this is her vision, and to an extent I was willing to sit back, shut up, and appreciate that. But now it just feels like she's more or less given up on her art outside of the film medium, which isn't giving me much hope. Even K-12 was more fun than this.. like, right off the bat.
 
I'm just confused I guess. This era feels like it should be so much more fun than it has been, but something's so off.

I can appreciate what she's going for but I'm not really into these visuals. It's just missing the immersive feeling and "magic" of her past work. VOID was 90% violent dance-thrashing and blurry CG IMO, particularly the scene where she's being chased by herself, which looked a little.. low budget? I just expected something completely different I guess.
 
I'm glad we at least got to see her again outside of the costume again, though. For that alone, 10/10 

The opening was good, underwhelming and blurry otherwise. 

I'm not sure she's trying to look insane so much as desperate, but I know what you mean. It'd be nice to see her do more actual dancing than all of the violent thrashing and head-whipping.
 
And I wonder what Cry Baby era Melanie would've done with these songs.. She would've killed it with the budget that these videos must be getting. Even when she hardly had a budget, she still created some of the best, most creative videos I've ever seen. Just compare the clean CGI and set design in Mad Hatter to VOID, for instance.. it's probably just me, but I feel something missing here.

What I think she’s been missing lately is to sit down a bit with her art and give it a though before releasing anything… idk but it feels messy, chaotic and all over the place. Even the album tracklist goes with no clear direction opposed to the demos leaked.
 
Same with visuals, she’s going with the flow (which is great) but I think the major problem here is she’s not getting exterior help or output. She wants to do it all by herself but to make this things right she should let experts have a say… same with songwritting 
 
Ur sooo right, Mad Hatter was great and she did it with no crazy choreography… Im happy she’s happy to express herself and comfortable enough to dance, but some direction would be great. Just look how good Detention, The Bakery and Drama Club (except that cringey last “woke” part) turned out to be

truthfully, i dont think she's thinking about the plot for the separate music videos. shes just going with something quick to get them over with so she can get to the full film quicker - but thats dreadfully taking away from what COULD be her best visual work overall.

Early stages of MM3 had sooo much potential 

I was never opposed to her performing in her costume but I'm starting to notice how stiff and awkward she looks on tour. She can barely match the energy to her background dancers since she’s wearing so much stuff

Not the fucking movie again… I’m so fed up with the hypnotherapy bs and all of that, the film is gonna probably suck… can she make MV for each song and stay happy? 

There is NO WAY all of that will be done on time if it's done right. I don't even think anyone wants both at this point.. not unless they're looking forward to 5 more years of video and film production. It took enough time just to produce and release the Cry Baby videos and those weren't nearly on the level of what she's trying to do now(extensive CGI, full body costuming, etc).
 
Why does she put so much on her plate all the time, all at once? An album release, a whole tour in costume, press and interviews, music videos, and a movie? I just do not get it. She's really pushing her boundaries with this era and she'll burn out eventually if she's not careful.

I agree. Melanie plans on putting out some of the music videos this year and the rest next year so she won't be putting out all of them this year. However, I think that she should focus on the tour for however long it lasts and then wait until after to work on the movie (hoping there won't be too many legs of the tour bc if she's still on the tour by next summer, she probably won't be able to work on the movie until 2025). But yeah idk. She's definitely trying to do too many things at the same time. I feel like the movie will be much better this time around though I hope (at least it won't be a musical like K-12). I really want the movie bc I need to know how the album fits in with Crybaby's story.

I love Mel but I think she wants to do too many things at the same time. She wants to release 13 music videos (cool, I'm here for that), but we're still waiting for VOID's one and it's been months... how is she going to record (and edit) 11 music videos while she has a show per day till July? She also hinted that there will be a second American leg "next year"... and the film too...

The costume itself I can deal with for the music videos, photos, etc, even if I don't particularly care for it: but on tour it's just not a good idea. Less so because it's kind of ugly (though I think that's intentional) and more so because it's not safe to have anything covering your nose/mouth when you're under stage lights on a hot day. It's not like she can just take it off like a mask if it gets to be too much or she can't breathe because it's adhered onto her face. There were points watching last night's show I thought she was about to pass out from heat exhaustion, and it's only going to get hotter when it truly hits summer temperatures. The tour schedule has her playing 8 shows between California, Arizona, and Texas in June (all states known for incredibly hot climates) and a few shows going into mid July. I don't think it's going to get any easier for her to manage to stay cool enough, especially now that she can't further rework the prosthetics. I sort of wonder if anyone on her makeup team or the prosthetic artist themselves warned her of this, because I find it hard to believe nobody would've told her this wasn't really a safe idea.
