The Right Person Will Stay - Pre-Release Thread (OUT: May 21st, 2025)
barttttender replied to Elle's topic in New Releases
no chance in hell is the album dropping in may. She only gave us a faux album release because she knows she messed up with announcing it in the first place. no single, no label confirmation, no cover, no insider scoop, no new registered songs names, no website code change - no nothing. All we have is lana's words and 90% of the time, that means sh*t. i'll believe that the album is coming either when interscope confirms it or when a single drops. Until then, i'm taking everything with a grain of salt. -
Out of all of these, Wicked deserve Best Picture. It's the greatest musical since Moulin Rouge! and genuinely better than Chicago, which won BP. If not Wicked, then Anora. (from those I've seen) Acting wise, Oscar nods belong to Mickey M. in Anora in Lead and Ariana Grande in Supporting . Also loved Jeremy Strong in Apprentice. High hopes for Kidman in Babygirl. Sebastian Stan deserves a nod from Trump, but the Academy really doesn't appreciate him for some reason (maybe it's his Romanian origin). Who doesn't deserve a nod: Isabella Roselini, she barely has 10 mins of screentime and doesn't do that much. If she gets it, it's a career nom. I do not get the hype around Jolie either. The movie is the weakest in the trilogy and it's 40% lip syncing which wasn't even that convincing. Would rather see Erivo get in, that woman worked her ass off on Wicked and actually sang live.

Already made a thread on this topic this year But sure, posting here too: My top 11 goes something like: Wicked Babes Anora Inside Out 2 Blink Twice Beetlejuice Beetlejuice Late Night with the Devil The Substance Oddity The Apprentice It's such a great year for film that I can't even do 10 only. Honorable mentions: The Challengers, Abigail, A Different Man, Speak No Evil, Immaculate, Conclave, Civil War Biggest Disappointment: Kinds of Kindness Biggest Surprise: Zoe Kravtiz's directorial and screenwriting skills (Blink Twice) Yet to see: Babygirl, The Brutalist, The Room Next Door, Blitz, Juror #. 2, Queer, Emelia Perez, The Last Showgirl, Nickel Boys, Nosferatu... Full list here: Loved: Wicked - So, so good! If this wins BP, it will be a very worthy winner. Ariana Grande can act! 10/10 Blink Twice - brilliant debut for Kravitz. Food for thought and gripping af. 10/10 Anora - brilliant as expected with Sean Baker 10/10 Inside Out 2 - an absolute blast at the cinema imo and better than the first 10/10 Oddity - so fucking good! Not a single cliche in it. One of the best horrors of the decade 10/10 The Substance - phenomenal, outrageous, stylish, few flaws but well worth the hype 9/10 Late Night with the Devil - very, very good, original, and creepy. 9/10 Beetlejuice Beetlejuice: also an absolute blast at the cinema, and a return to form for Tim Burton. 9/10 Babes - best comedy of the year imo. Absolutely fucking hilarious 9/10 The Apprentice: surprisingly good and watchable, Oscar nom worthy performance from Sebastian Stan 8.5/10 Good: Abigail: fun, bonkers, hilarious, a great time at the cinema 8/10 Challengers: Okay, it's not quite as hot and sexy as I thought it was gonna be, but still good. great soundtrack 7.5/10 Speak No Evil: clever, twisty script, and performances 7.5/10 Immaculate: fun, scary, with a really good performance by S. Sweeney 7.5/10 Conclave: well-made, watchable, good acting, bit overrated. Expected more after all the hype. 7.5/10 Civil War: Not Alex Garland's best but still good 7/10 A Different Man: Artsy and well-acted, but also drags on 7/10 Meh: Maria: Solid work from Jolie, but the movie kind of becomes more and more boring and less specific as it goes along, and eventually ends up being sappy as hell. 6.9/10 Thelma: Cute movie, but not worthy of the praise it's getting? 6.9/10 Fly Me to the Moon: Look great, but too long and overstuffed 6.5/10 Kinds of Kindness: What a comedown after Poor Things. Guess they had fun making it 6/3 (and that's only for the style) Heretic: Solidi Grant but just meh, didn't even finish it. 6.2/10 Alien: Romulus: Major MEH. 6/10 Hit Man: I like Powell, and it's a good concept, but kinda fell asleep 6/10 The Fall Guy: Very long nap vibes. If basic bitch were a movie 5/10, but then pretty harmless Twisters: same, one big cliche 5/10, but harmless A Family Affair: harmless background movie while you do your laundry or dishes 5/10 Loathed: Love Lies Bleeding: Nonsense. Starts good, but turns into hogwash. 4/10 A Quiet Place Day 1: Absolute rubbish compared to the first two films in the series. 4/10 Longless. A good Nicolas Cage, but the script is outright moronic. 4/10 I Saw the TV Glow: What the fuck even was that? 1/10 The new Lindsay Lohan Xmas movie. 1/10. Netlix is churning out literal shit Can't wait to see: The Room Next Door, Babygirl, Juror no. 2, Queer, Blitz, Nosferatu... There's a lot going on this year. But what a year for cinema! Same here. 13 is a great number, and hopefully means no fillers/interludes. -

I love Chemtrails. It got me through some really tough shit. I remember living in a hotel at the time (had broken with my bf of 5 years), and the album dropped, and I was listening to it in bed and White Dress literally brought tears to my eyes. Is it her best album? No. Is it her shortest? Yet. Is it the most cohesive? Kinda! This is a quiet record, but the production is on-point, and all the songs go well together thematically and sonically. Also, Chemtrails (the single) is one of her best this decade, and Wild at Heart is MEGA UNDERRATED. My only issue is that it feels incomplete (For Free and Breaking Up Slowly are clearly filler tracks, and the album needed a few more great songs). -

So, three weeks after the album announcement and still no single/news/snippet. Yikes. We really are in no man's land. Guess it's safe to say 2024 was one big desert rolling bush for LDR10. Thank god for Tough. -

For the cover, i'd like Lana smack dab in the middle of Louisiana swamp zone, taming alligators and looking hot af in a bikini. Paradise & OB nude cover combined with a splash of Chemtrails alt cover -
It's just insane. In my native country, healthcare is not great, but it's either free or dirt cheap (it's subsidized by the government). Where I live as an expat, everyone has medical insurance as long as they're employed, or a national. I've never had to worry about healthcare in my life, thank God. Also, one time I had insurance so good that I bought a pair of really expensive designer prescription glasses, (Oliver Peoples) and they refunded me in full. Didn't stay long at the job, but that experience was something else. Their policy allowed a frame per year, which means folks who have it can get new pair of designer glasses every year. Americans think they're the shit, and "the greatest country in the world." Yet they don't take care of their own people, and allow the sale of guns in supermarkets. If I didn't know better, I would think your government doesn't care about you at all.

Apparently, he's a Lana fan, according to his Spotify. So, he deserves to be pardoned and sent back home in a luxury limo with apologies. Joking But yeah, what to say... As someone who is super anti-capitalist and kinda shocked by the American healthcare system, I'm not surprised. But then, you do need to have a few screws loose in your head to go and outright shoot someone.

Tbh, at this point, this is the least excited I've been for a Lana record ever. For one, the constant shift in direction seems insecure, as does the release date delay, as does the title change. The new title is actually not an improvement over the last one. Hate me all you want, but Lasso was better. Drew Erickson as a producer - snooze. Announcing "two more singles", then backtracking also sounds like insecurity to me. Henry sure sounds great, but also like nothing we haven't already heard on Chemtrails. (Based on the snippet alone). Also, she teased that a year ago, and clearly hasn't made songs that she's more proud of. So I'm not expecting "big" songs like Ride or West Coast or even OB, because than that would be her choice of single. There doesn't seem to be a proper album cover yet, which also says to me that the album is nowhere near actual materialisation. At 13 songs only, it'll be only slightly longer than Chemtrails probably, which is her shortest record to date. Lastly, it's her longest break between albums (right?), but even May 21st sounds iffy. The fact that we have to wait six (or more) months is just excruciating. And god knows when the first single will drop. For all we know, she'll delay the album again, and drop the single in May. It's not the best time to be a Lana fan tbh. Don't throw tomatoes on me, this is just my opinion. -
Lana Del Rey and Quavo “Tough” - OUT NOW!
barttttender replied to rocknrollgroupie's topic in New Releases
Ahaha, so true - one of the biggest disappointments of the year. But hey, at least Tough is about to outstream Venice Bitch and other top songs. Fyi, VB is probably my favorite song of all time (of anyone's discography), but I'm glad Tough is still doing well (near 400,00 streams on Spotify daily)/ -
but he didn't. She was pretty f-ing big before she met him. He just got the the critics to rile up behind her. Before Jack, she was a bit more critically divisive, but not even by that much. let's not forget that Jack is yet to produce a single song for Lana that charted on the Billboard 100. An argument can be made that he's more closed than opened doors for her, at least in terms of commercial success. Her last number 1 album was LFL, after all. So yeah, she's kissing his ass a little too much.

Thank you. Honestly, I could probably come up with 20,000 titles better than "The right person will stay." But I know the title has its fans, so I'll shut up. -

Watch her say something random like "Our new album, Moonlight Melancholia, is coming out July 21st."
