  1. Watch her say something random like "Our new album, Moonlight Melancholia, is coming out July 21st."
  2. i very highly doubt it. There was a time when we would get a huge lead single with big, high-production MV values. Now it's like 'I'll drop this acoustic ballad as the lead single whenever i get around to it, and there'll be no MV, and you just have to deal with it." Ugh.
  3. I just wished she'd dropped the first single with the album announcement. Like, what difference does it make? She dropped Mariner's ages before the actual album, and no big deal. Instead, she's delayed the album by 9 months (September-May), then delayed the two singles she's announced before year-end. If she'd dropped ONE god-damn single before the year-end, at least should we mitigate some of those false promises and delays? Lastly, if it's Henry and it's a super minimalist ballad, then why wait that long at all? It's not like extensive orchestra and drum programming needs extra work. Basically, just drop the single lana damnit
  4. Please no more voice demos. Can't imagine anything lazier for a musician to do. It's like a writer publishing their voice memos where they literally told a random story that popped into their head without story- nor sentence- level editing. It's a fine experiment for a song or two, but we've done that, we have it in the can, let's move on.
  5. That's a very good point. The girl is an absolute genius, super creative, and has what most important: the soul of a a true artist/poet. (Unlike say, Lady Gaga, for example, whom I find completely plastic.) It could also be that we're just massively overthinking everything with this new album lol, and critical/fearful before it even dropped. Thanks for this reality check haha.
  6. "His solo production on 'Beautiful', 'Violets for Roses' and 'Fingertips' makes the songs kind of uneventful." Periodt.
  7. Glad we agree on some of these points. I don't think her music is declining per se. It's just different. In some ways it's evolving. Venice Bitch is a massive leap forward, as is most of NFR and some of OB. She's also aging and clearly has a different concepts in mind. But again, some of her confidence is definitely damaged in the process, and I miss some of that "wtf, can't believe she just did that, quen" momentum. Part of me believes The Right Person will be even softer than Chemtrails or OB. But let's see.
  8. I mean, vaping and smoking like a chimney certainly doesn't help lmao. But I anyway, singing amazingly is not all that important in pop music. Just look at Madonna. It's more about the tone, melody, phrasing, and conjuring the right atmosphere, which Lana is a master of. I don't think she's wowed me with her vocal proficiency per se since that high note on NFR (the song). But I don't care for that kind of stuff anyway (otherwise, I would listen to Mariah Carrey.) The only issue i have is perhaps that Lana doesn't sound as confident perhaps as she did back on BTD and Paradise. She'd open a song with a razor-sharp line like "My pussy tastes like pepsi cola", and it had so much sass and personality. Now it's all becoming a lot softer and demure. Which I still love. But I kinda wish she would mix it up a little vocally and lyrically. Especially with her album openers, which are feeling more and more samey (sad ballads). I guess I miss her confidence and sense of fun on the last few records? I think the super harsh criticism of her early work has scared the bejeezus out of her and she's playing it more safe, with tones and lyrics she know work well and won't get her dragged through dirt.
  9. 100%. Either uv or lfl. it just doesn't sound anything like her recent output. Like nothing at all. 2018 outtake at the latest.
  10. Yes. She says "Back to the start, back to the basics" at the start. Which is another reason why it would be a fantastic album opener. But it really does sound more like a LFL 2 opener, rather than a TRPWS opener.
  11. I'd love it for it to be the opening song. For me, it would be her strongest opener since NFR and White Dress, and her first upbeat opener since Love. But I don't think this would happen because it would give the illusion of the album being more bopp-y. If Henry is the first single, get ready for Grants II or Textbook II as the opening song. In fact, I don't think Fenway will be on the record at all, and neither will Tough. I'm kinda bracing myself for Chemtrails 2.0.
  12. Same here. Most people will do a decent job at it. The only time where it clearly bugged me was with BB because I genuinely felt like there were a lot of first takes, a lot of bad vocals, a lot of haphazard mixing, and just lower quality overall. I wasn't surprised when people pointed out that some of the songs were actual YouTube rips. Which is another reason why I don't feel like Sisk deserves the hate. Not with BB around which she didn't even come near. Also, nothing Sisk has ever done comes close to the awful and cheap vocal reverb on Florida Kilos, and as I mentioned, Bartender's reverb and Tomorrow Never Came's. Those songs were ruined for me, especially when you know how good Lana's vocals can be reverb-free.
  13. That's a very bold statement. Out of curiosity, what did you think about BB's mixing and engineering?
  14. 100%. It's kinda funny. The woman (Sisk) mixed and engineered two of the most critically acclaimed albums of Lana's career (OB and NFR), and now she's Satan herself just because a few posters don't like Lana's vocals on certain tracks? Like, how are we talking about Sisk and not Dan Reid and co.'s work on Blue Banisters? I've had colleagues at work tell me off for playing Arcadia which to everyone sounded like a cat being beaten through my airpods. The sound recording on most of those tracks is so first-take and unpolished, it's kinda embarassing. Blue Banisters had twenty engineers and mixers, according to Wikipedia, and to me, they still didn't do a good of a job as Sisk, all hands on deck.
  15. Hmm. Don't quite get the Sisk hate. Lana's vocals on NFR (the song) were some of her most crystal ever. Sisk can definitely record vocals well. She's winning awards for her work. Fishtail was clearly a stylistic decision made by Jack/Lana, to give it a muffled, almost underwater sound. It's not like Sisk made a mistake. Also, let's not forget Rick Nowel ruining Lana's vocals with reverb on tracks like Bartender and Tomorrow Never Came. You can hear the exact moment the reverb is switched on with every verse/chorus 🤦🏻‍♂️ Also, let's not forget that Lana likes to record her vocals outside the recording studio as of late, sitting on a chair outside. That certainly doesn't help. But yeah, hoping for crystal clear vocals this time around. Henry definitely sounded promising in that sense.
  16. surely we don't need an insider to know that it hasn't been mastered yet lol. If it was, it wouldn't be coming out in 6 months.
  17. lmao. So true. The titles are getting messier Although, she has had some great titles in this decade, e.g. Tulsa Jesus Freak, Paris, Texas, Wild at Heart. Very David Lynch
  18. That is incorrect. Producers' retention is subject to availability. If Jack is busy with Kendrick Lamar, Taylor Swift or whoever, then she would go to Luke with the same production notes. If Luke is busy, she would then go to the next one available producer, and so on. This is very likely the case with an album that's been in the making for years. Typically, you want your songs to sound cohesive, just like UV was cohesive. The album has 4+ producers, but that absolutely doesn't mean that all of the songs won't be stripped back and 'sound the same'. Especially when all four have done similar, piano and acoustic-friendly work before. Now if Cirkut, Andrew Watt or Emile Haynie were also named, that would be a completely different story.
  19. TRAGIC. Fenway is a total vibe. As good as anything on LFL. Like Cherry's younger, sexier, sluttier sister lol
  20. She's given us soo many great records over the years. If it's another BB-level flop, I'll survive. But hopefully, she drops some aside singles, soundtracks or collabs next year too. At this point, I'll take Henry and Fenway intro and be happy if those are the only songs I like on Person. Certainly got another 100 songs I love. Not gonna hate her for feeding me two more lol
  21. Sadly, I don't think that song will be on the record. Sounds more like a LFL outtake, and it's probably one of the many random unreleased songs that will never see the light of day. She probably pulled it up to open the show out of some computer vault, like she did with that "Baby, i'm a gangster too" track just to mix it up. I'm praying it's on the record (excited me far more than Henry), but it's just so 'out there' for the aesthetics that this album seems to be going for.
  22. If this was a bit more natural, it would be a great cover. Very Lana. And much better than the picsart selfie she posted. Also, it would be super nice to have her man on the cover. Only then would I be on board with the awfully didactic title. Hopefully, she sees this and goes in that direction.
  23. Just to weigh in, for me, Lana's interludes are absolute filler tracks. Burnt Norton, the Trio, and the OB interludes can all be erased and it wouldn't make the slightest bit of difference to the records. If anything, since the records are quite long, the albums would be crisper without them. On the other hand, her features are much needed imo. Her voice, as gorgeous as it is, can be a little heavy over the span of an hour and sometimes up to 16 songs on a record. So, hearing ASAP rocky pop up, the Weeknd, or Father John Misty helps make things more dynamic, mixes things up, and adds to the world building. Between the two, I'd rather have features on The Right Person Will Stay.
  24. That is hilarious! Also, Nicole Kidman is my other fav celebrity, so this totally sounds like a dream I could have had lmao
  25. Fascinating. Would be great if some of those 13 songs end up being her all-time best. But also, let's face it, it will be longer than that (it ain't coming in May).
