  1. what was her entrance/first song this time around? I missed it.
  2. born to die was more cohesive than honeymoon honeymoon had jazz, trap, orchestras, acustic guitars. I dont think it was that cohesive at all. For me, her most cohesive albums to date are NFR and BTD. Production wise, melodically, lyrically. Total consistency throughout. then I'd say UV and Chemtrails. then LFL, HM and OB, all of which kind of push for different things. But that's what makes them a unique listening expericce and a bit more sonically diverse.
  3. Did she sing anything new? pitchcfork said sth about a new song, but was it lana's or camila's?
  4. so, lana's new era flower is a cactus, right?
  5. I bet those are for Lasso. Another moody "sad girl" record confirmed.
  6. It's crazy. We're getting Billie, Lipa, Beyonce and Taylor all within a month. Ariana, Musgraves right before. But for Lana we have to wait till September (if even that, knowing her). That said, as long as the album delivers, I don't care when it comes out. I just need one good single by the summer.

    Taylor Swift

Just listened to the album. Seems to have fewer lows than Midnights. (Some tracks on that were so bad). But it also doesn't seem to have as many highs? What does everyone else think?
  8. Guys, when does the show start and who. has the link to the livestream?
  9. She said in her IG post something about her tour manager leaving. "Emily for stepping up as tour manager when Pete quit for no reason after 15 years because he was butt hurt that I got 10 comped bikes for free from Wally and randomly decided he was more of a stage designer than a tour manager... Never got a phone call probably never will. Still grateful for the 15 years though. No worries – 37 days was more than enough time to put together an entire headlining set all by ourselves. Not stressful at all. Way to go Emily you fucking killed it with grace." That might explain why her nerves were shot and she didn't exude a lot of confidence during the show. Poor girl.
  10. Born to Die, it's her most approachable record. Then probably Paradise and Lust for Life. Then you can go into the really good stuff like NFR!, Ultraviolence and Ocean Boulevard. Leave Honeymoon, Blue Banisters and Chemtrails for last as these are her slowest and most hermetic records (more in the fans-only vein).
  11. It's the consensus amongst the people in my circle. Everyone's kind of tuned into other artists. Which annoys the hell out of me.
  12. Honestly, a lot of my friends are saying the same - that Lana should take some time off. The consensus seems to be that she's churning out a lot of songs, a lot of which aren't very good. Country Road is just one of many. Another one is that Blue Skies cover, which is equally awful. There's the collabs with some anonymous people, mid Antonoff project collabs, etc. And let's not forget how unnecessary Blue Banisters was. Courtney Love never had a filter, and I don't think what she said is THAT BAD.
  13. Pitchfork review in case it wasn't posted: The Friday night headliner, Lana Del Rey, was in stark contrast to Doja Cat, though not always for the better. Her set was hampered by poor sound in her microphone, presumably due to the high winds at that time. Because of that, it never quite achieved the hermetic quality that benefits Del Rey’s music—the sense that all of history, American and her own, is happening at once, violently but slowly. Instead, this illusion was punctured, replaced by a smaller, concentric circle of history, one that only looped as far back as the beginning of her career, including her maligned 2012 Saturday Night Live performance. It was frequently engrossing and, as could be expected, a pointed comment on how celebrity corrodes. But unlike in her recorded music, it was complicated by the unshakeable sense that it was missing something that can never be recaptured, no matter how well we think we remember.
  14. Instantly adored: Blue Jeans Video Games Ride Gods and Monsters The Blackest Day Tomorrow Never Came White Mustang California Bartender White Dress Taco Truck I was mind blown by each of these and the song writings. They're so Lana. I have songs that I love more like Venice Bitch, but those are growers. This list above is when Lana is at her peak as a songwriter imo, lyrically and melodically,. "

    Dua Lipa

this is such a great year for pop music, especially if youre a fag. Lana, beyonce, billie, taylor... everyone important is releasing a new album

    Dua Lipa

Glad you love it. To me, it's almost like a Dua Lipa song created by AI. Sounds like any other song on the radio right now, very manufactured. The other songs had a more unique touch and Keven Parker's influence was obvious. But I still think that this album is going to be a really fun listen, and great for gymming.
  17. I hear you. But about this: "We can try to mold a perfect Lana performance in our head, but at the end of the day, she’s going to do whatever tf she wants. " The issue is we've all seen "perfect performances" from her many times, and we know she can do it. She sang at Glastonbury 10 years ago and she was great. An artist should move forward, after 10+ years in the business. So, obviously, if she renders a weird setlist with shaky vocals, people will be disappointed. Sure, she can do whatever the f she wants. But it's hard to go "WOW!" about a performance like this when Beyonce, Gaga, Lipa and others are putting on EPIC shows that tear the house down left and right with vocals that are out of this world good. She was lovely and herself and beautiful, and we still love her. It's like watching a shy poet perform. But, technically, for the price of these tickets, the show should have been better. Like I said before, when I saw her life during NFR, that miles better vocally, setlist- and choreo- wise, and that was 5 years ago. So, why is she regressing as a performer? That is the beef The Guardian and others had with it. And it's not like she's universally praised for this.
  18. I second this. I would never cut Cherry and Born to Die as people love these. But Arcadia, CN, Pretty .Hope, The Grants and Bartender need to go. How many times has she performed Pretty lying on her back at this point - 700? My choice for the replacement woulda been any of these: SYTH Radio The greatest Let the Light In High by the Beach (the old choreo was great) Off to the Races Love Blue Jeans National Anthem Taco Truck x VB Cola Summer Bummer Serial Killer
  19. I like that. Again, it's something different. Capsl, interludes ala Cowboy Carter, upbeat songs. One can only hope.
  20. If FJM had been there, it would have elevated the whole thing massively. A more upbeat song, a duet, and third solid guest. Having two guests was lackluster. Hope he makes it next week.
  21. The Batiste thing was awkward af. First, the stage and the crowd were already dead silent before he walked in and you could hear a pin drop. Then she introduces him and, like, few people know who she is. Of course, Lana being super shy, doesn't really ease him nor the audience into it. Then they sing a slow song that nobody knows about feeling suicidal. It's like bringing a friend to a birthday party who still has bandages on his wrists from their last wrist-slashing attempt.
  22. I feel like she's circling back to her beginnings more and more with these live performances. Like, next thing you know, she'll be singing Disco with just Blake on the guitar.
  23. I was thinking about this at the gym just now. The only way I can justify her setlist was if she was going for an outright ANTI-POP statement. Like, "I'm Lana Del Rey, I'm going to the best festival in America, and I'm going to bore everyone to death with obscure, slow songs that no one's ever heard of - just because I can. I'm going to prove to the world that real art doesn't need to be neither ubpeat nor familiar. And my dancers and I are going to shake our booties and dance on a strip pole to delicate piano. Take that, America."
  24. to skip the biggest hit among her ballads (SYTH) since, like, Lust for Life feat. The Weeknd was criminal. And it's such an easy song to play, too. The crowd woulda been lapping it up. But bartender at coachella? Really? Ugh makes me so confused. Surely, the set list should be tailored to the paying audience, not according to what the artist likes to sing in the shower.
