i think this would make her discography so confusing to outsiders though. one release with a title that clearly shows the intention of the album would be ideal in my opinion

lana deserves to make money from all her unreleased music i just dont know how much most of her core fans would listen since we’ve all been listening to it for years.

i see what ur saying but similar to what i said in the BB thread, fans are always excited to see what their fave is releasing. so when the album came out, of course everyone was happy about it bc its just fun getting able to experience new lana music. however, i’ll add that before it came out and we just had the singles, i was ready to be wowed by this record. i thought it would be her best album. when it came out, i liked it but i wasnt obsessed. i barely posted in here bc i felt bad that i wasnt as excited as everyone else. once the newness wore off, i realized im just not the biggest fan. whether its with COCC, BB, or this album, im sure a lot of us experienced the same thing. it happens

i wish lana’s growth took the path of NFR rather than what we have now (many of you would argue that it has but there is a STARK difference between the style of NFR and the style of OB). after sitting with the album and the newness wearing off, i like a few songs but dont often feel compelled to come back to the album. i dont relate to most of the lyrical material, i dont find a lot of the melodies to be that compelling, i completely understood what the album was about on first listen, and it doesnt cultivate any sort of atmosphere for me. some songs are career highlights but for the most part, i could take or leave this album. maybe lana’s new direction isnt really for me anymore i can appreciated her growth and the music shes putting out n i love her to death as a person but idk… nothing will compare to her earlier music for me. i just cant make myself enjoy it as much.

agree with all of this, however, i dont think this makes the music better or more intelligent like lana thinks it does. i think it takes more skill and vision to build atmosphere, mystique, and an entire world. it takes a lot less effort to write “matter-of-factly” and straightforward. not to say lana has less talent now but i do think shes (dont kill me) being lazy and not reaching her full potential

me too. its so nostalgic, mostly “happy”/lighthearted. so many different sounds to choose from but IMO they dont clash. i love the initial, witchy idea of the album but i personally have always loved what we got. however, i have coachella hidden bc its one of her worst

exactly even though i could pass on a few songs on that record, its nowhere near the mess that bb is. plus the vibe is GOOD, cohesive, and makes me feel warm n fuzzy. this exactly

ive never seen an artist obsessively speak out against critics in their albums quite like lana does. she really does care even if shes trying to make it look like she doesnt. a lot of the time it looks cringey

this is what i miss about lanas music that isnt in the new record either. i need her to go back to world building n leave the straightforward and personal writing to her poetry.

yes exactly n thats why i try to not fault her for this album she wasnt exactly proud of it either. but im still a huge hater bc i KNOW lana can do a million times better n it felt like she chose to make a horrible record with this one.

YES YES YES. she wasnt singing with any feeling which is what ive always loved about her voice. ever since she’s been (what im assuming is) training her voice, that quality has just totally gone away. its so sad.

ngl… her putting these songs on BB made me have negative feelings about them when they were some of my faves before i just see them as part of her worst album now.

an album with any of the lyrics from arcadia, vfr, or beautiful does not deserve to be called her best album lyrics wise. its so bad. i was IN SHOCK when i heard how bad beautiful was

i think that just tends to happen when ur fave releases something u really wanna believe its everything you wanted but then the excitement wears off. this happened to me with both bb and ocean blvd
