Okay, so I searched for the 5 new tracks on last.fm and here's what I found: Violets for Roses - 5 listeners / 2,974 Scrobbles Black Bathing Suit - 7 listeners / 2,907 Scrobbles Beautiful - 41 listeners / 160 Scrobbles Sweet Carolina - 4 listeners / 48 Scrobbles If You Lie Down With Me - 5 listeners / 5 Scrobbles Needless to say, Violets for Roses & Black Bathing Suit seem to have insane repeat value! Well, at least to those who have access to the songs.

@lustforlife Thank you for the hot tea. What you say about this album being the "end of Lana Del Rey" is both exciting and upsetting...But perhaps there's a reason why she told us to listen to Arcadia the way we listened to the song that introduced her... What should we expect from If You Lie Down With Me? I'm getting bluesy/jazz vibes from it!
-
Lol, is Black Bathing Suit going to be trap?! That would be fun and the interlude before it would make a lot of sense. For some strange reason though I expect it to be the more melodic/more lyrics-heavy trip hop (or super bluesy) sister of Dealer. @lustforlife Is Violet for Roses a ballad? The fact that it plays right before Dealer intrigues me a lot... EDIT: Hey...didn't @lustforlife say that there's orchestra and choir on the album? What if Black Bathing Suit is the song that features these elements and takes us completely by surprise while we're expecting a sultry bop?

I've been trying to decipher how Lana is going to tell her story and this is what I came up with: Text Book, Blue Banisters and Arcadia operate as a form of introduction - a prologue to the story Lana wants to share with us. Text Book is not an accessible or particularly "welcoming" opener - it's lyrically dense and complex, and the overall mood it evokes is quite cerebral. The opening line is perfect: this is really her story and she (finally) feels strong enough to tell it. The closing line implies repetition; a dead end. Blue Banisters is about healing and memories. The ghost of a lover still haunts her because the pain he inflicted on her remains unbearable. But she finds comfort in the company of her family and friends who try to heal her wounds even though they probably fail. But they're always there for her. They "fly to her to paint, paint...". There's something hopeful in the song, but Lana has to live with this pain - it'll never go away. Arcadia is one of her most lyrically subversive songs. What seems like a cheeky allegory and an apparent love letter to California becomes a slyly scathing critique against America and the criticism she's received throughout the years. In a way, these three tracks seem to define her current state of mind: the disappointments of love; the unfair criticism; the search for a safe haven - both literally and figuratively - in the world. @Thunder made some great points about the three-act structure of the album. Dealer is one of Lana's angriest and rawest songs. Thunder is both celebratory and a portrayal of (emotional) stagnancy. Wildflower Wildfire has some of the darkest and most confessional words Lana has ever written, but she finally finds hope. "It's you from whom I learn." This seems to be another critical transitional moment in the album - we finally dive into old UV outtakes. What is their purpose in the narrative? There is a lot of nostalgia in these songs, particularly Nectar of the Gods which ends with Lana feeling lost again. Living Legend and especially Cherry Blossom are sweeter, warmer songs. The fact that the final track, Sweet Carolina, is co-written by the father she "wanted back" (and finally found him) and her sister is very important. I think this will be a very emotional and highly personal ballad. Perhaps nothing has really changed in Lana's life. As Blue Banisters says, this "hole"/pain hasn't been healed and probably never will be. But she's found the support she needs - her father, her siblings, her best friends, her fans, her own self. These are her banisters. So what should we expect from those mysterious tracks in the middle of the album? Black Bathing Suit, Beautiful, Violets for Roses, If You Lie Down With Me...these are very beautiful (pun intended!) and romantic or even sultry/inviting titles. But would such a direction make sense sonically and lyrically? How do we end up with the anger in tracks 9-11? Are these songs about her past? Could the titles be misleading? Is she going to go from something potentially sexy (Black Bathing Suit/If You Lie Down With Me) and pure (Beautiful/Violets for Roses) to something as lyrically dark and angry as Dealer? Could these tracks hold the key to fully understanding Lana's intentions? The fact that insiders avoid talking about these - sure, they want to leave us something to be excited about lol! - makes me think that they may be quite revealing and intense.

Lana is trolling everyone at this point. First Arcadia was supposed to be a piano ballad; then Rick Nowels has credits on Cherry Blossom; then the album was supposed to be digitally released on October 8 but it'll be released along with physicals on October 22. Even Boz is unsure: have the old tracks been rerecorded/remastered/reworked or not? Lol. Now wait till Nikki Lane sings the chorus of Black Bathing Suit accompanied by a mixture of trap beats, trip hop, metal and Hungarian folk.

Thunder can be a big alt/rock hit if it's pushed as a single. The melody is infectious and iconic. Anyway, I have to say that I am very impressed with Drew Erickson's very rich yet subtle production of Arcadia. I should have expected it because his work on Titanic Rising is gorgeous as well. This makes me even more excited for tracks 5-8. Didn't @lustforlife also tell us that there are choir/orchestra and rock elements in the album? And Chuck saying that Sweet Carolina always makes her cry...I think we're in for a ride. I knew that boz liked the new Thunder version because he tweeted lyrics of the song (and Cherry Blossom's as well) a couple of months ago. So I suppose it's the other 3 outtakes that he really doesn't care for. He said that he's not a fan of Dealer and I suppose Nectar of the Gods lacking a build-up - assuming it hasn't been reworked since 2013 at all - might have irked him too. I'm curious about Living Legend though because apparently that one is the other "old" track which underwent significant changes along with Thunder.

Lol, Spin has finally seen the light! Boz's description of Thunder is very intriguing. And I suppose @lustforlife was right once again?! He did say that it's more experimental and Boz saying that the song has a slow build-up with more and more instruments added as it progresses sounds very exciting. I trust Zach Dawes!

Boz told us that Lana and Barrie had a session earlier this year so they've definitely reworked or written something new together. Drew Erickson is one of the co-writers of If You Lie Down With Me so even if it's an UV outtake it must have been completely reworked with the addition of Erickson. Boz simply said that "well, on second thought this might be an UV outtake that no insider had ever had access to before" but it was just a guess. The fact that this is track 6 while Nectar of the Gods and Cherry Blossom are tracks 12 and 14 and with no Erickson credits makes me think that If You Lie Down With Me is a brand new song. Just a guess. Anyway, at this point I won't be surprised if Cherry Blossom & Nectar of the Gods do have the same instrumentals and/or lyrics with the leaked demos but they've been rerecorded by Lana. I mean, I don't trust the insiders' take on the tracks after Arcadia's release so perhaps they haven't noticed the subtle differences in the vocals. But yeah it's also very strange that Lana didn't mention Miles Kane at all. He's not just serving back vocals on Dealer lol!

The middle section (Black Bathing Suit -> If You Lie Down with Me -> Beautiful -> Violets for Roses) will be a ride. Erickson's work on Titanic Rising was monumental so I can't wait for his production on these songs. The interlude seems to introduce a new direction unless she's trolling us (which is entirely plausible lol). Now watch a simple title track like Beautiful turn out to be the magnum opus of the album completely out of nowhere. Zach co-writing If You Lie Down with Me probably means that this alleged UV outtake (I still think it's a completely new track though despite the Barrie credit; they did have a session a few months ago and this must be it if CB and NOTG haven't been touched) must have been completely reworked and I do trust him. Btw I'll never trust insiders again. Didn't boz say that the album was just a collection of "pretty ballads"? Ma'am, The Trio and Dealer wouldn't agree with you.

I'm slightly confused. The US LDR store site mentions that CDs and cassettes ship on October 22 but the vinyls ship on October 29. On the French store vinyls apparently ship on October 22. What is the truth?

I'm also not sure yes to heaven has listened to the album. That IG post basically mentions all the info we got yesterday (except for the alleged Thunder one). Boz and eclipse basically confirmed the rest of the info on ATRL yesterday. Boz in particular confirmed that Violets for Roses isn't RBFY and that Text Book *probably* is the longest track (he didn't seem too certain so I guess there may be a couple of 5-minute tracks on the album). -

Stripped back doesn't necessarily mean it's going to be an acoustic version or something. The leaked version is a bit too celebratory and happy sonically so I could see her toning it down and focusing on the electric guitars. It'll make the transition between Dealer and WFWF better if that's the case. I wonder if the reason why both CB and NOTG haven't been reworked ties with the narrative. Perhaps Sweet Carolina will give us the answer. -

Well...Lana said that Arcadia is from the "middle" of the narrative/journey. We could get MVs for a song from the "beginning" (TB/BB/WFWF - didn't boz say that they were looking for directors' ideas about the BB MV a while ago?) and the "end"/current phase/"present" (any of the new unheard songs or even an older one? - Thunder please if that's the case!).
