  1. I remember Boz saying something like this: "Text Book is most probably the longest track" which seems to indicate that there may be one or two other 5-minute songs on the album. But with the overall length being over 60 minutes and the interlude - assuming what we heard at the end of the Arcadia MV was the entire track - being so short, I suppose the remaining tracks will all be over 4 minutes. But we need some hot tea. Someone should leak the credits of the songs btw. I need to know all the instruments and producers. I'm not a big fan of Lust for Life but that album was far from lazy lol. There is nothing remotely lazy about the four officially released tracks which showcase incredible sophistication, maturity and inventiveness vocally, sonically and lyrically. She's also experimenting with tracks such as The Trio and Dealer. She also seems to have a very clear idea about the way she wants to tell her story with this particular compilation. The album may not be cohesive or work at all but until we get reviews and - most importantly - have the chance to listen to the album ourselves I suggest that you
  2. I adore the title Violets for Roses too! What if Black Bathing Suit turns out to be White Dress' trippier, darker and edgier sister? I have a feeling that If You Lie Down With Me is a new song. Merely based on the fact that the song is separated from the rest of the Barrie songs/UV outtakes which are all placed at the end of the album right before Sweet Carolina. But I'd love a confirmation because the fact that Barrie and Lana may have written a brand new song together fills me with joy.
  3. I think that we will get a MV and some promo as well. She deactivated her social media, yes, but this doesn't mean that she's dropping the project. She said that she's here for the music so another MV/second single accompanying the release of the album will build buzz. And I think we can get a photoshoot as well as a couple of interviews as long as they focus on the album and its content. At least I hope there is a plan because she really seems genuinely proud of the record and the promotion has been unexpectedly strong. Hopefully her decision to lead a more quiet life away from social media will make people pay attention to the actual work. This is what Lana always wanted after all. The more I think about it, the more I feel that this has always been part of the plan. This is her revenge in a way: she's making her most personal album to date, deactivates her accounts as a "fuck you" to the media, and tells her story without filter or certain expectations. The way she dropped the three pre-singles; the way the Arcadia MV culminates into the iconic middle finger part. Everything makes sense now. And given the circumstances, the lyrics of the four officially released tracks become even more revealing - without losing their mystery! - and disturbing. I'm even more excited about the way she's constructed this album and the meaning behind every track.
  4. Yeah the timing is just bizarre. She was posting so much these days and she does seem genuinely excited and proud of the new record so this decision to deactivate is shocking.
  5. Yeah I just rewatched this and yeah...the way she talks about trust and keeping a closer circle around her...something feels off.
  6. Why do I have a feeling that this album is going to emotionally destroy us? When she talked about bringing old collaborators, friends and family to write this album...putting old and new songs on it. It's like with this album she's curated everything that defines her. It feels like a farewell and an epilogue to this 10-year chapter. I don't know how I'm supposed to feel. I'm heartbroken but on the other hand I think she'll feel liberated. Social media can be insufferable and one's mental health should be their top priority. On the other hand, @Arcadia is right. It feels like she's forcing herself to smile. I really hope nothing bad has happened and this is just us overreacting but this video is slightly unsettling. And I can't believe Blue Banisters & Arcadia are playing on Spotify as I'm writing this...
  7. And NME (unsurprisingly) put it #1 on their Best New Tracks Spotify playlist. BB is coming for NFR's wig.
  8. Baez, Presley, Sinatra (both Frank and Nancy, lol), Mitchell are great picks. She also adores Holiday and I don't see her passing the opportunity to cover Springsteen either!
  9. Why would Ben be excited about Lana's two upcoming projects if one of them is a record that will be released by a new label (Capitol) though?
  10. Okay, so I searched for the 5 new tracks on last.fm and here's what I found: Violets for Roses - 5 listeners / 2,974 Scrobbles Black Bathing Suit - 7 listeners / 2,907 Scrobbles Beautiful - 41 listeners / 160 Scrobbles Sweet Carolina - 4 listeners / 48 Scrobbles If You Lie Down With Me - 5 listeners / 5 Scrobbles Needless to say, Violets for Roses & Black Bathing Suit seem to have insane repeat value! Well, at least to those who have access to the songs.
  11. So...will any good sis leak the credits, duration etc. of the songs? I need to know if Miss Clay really produced The Trio.
  12. Haha true! And I agree with you. You can't put an interlude that leads to...nowhere. It's a build-up. @Surf Noir may be right though. If it does have trap elements it may be closer to something like Freak or Art Deco than Summer Bummer.
  13. The only thing that gives me pause is that I'm not really expecting LFL-inspired trap elements from Erickson and Dawes who co-wrote the song. Trip hop, jazz, rock or even electronica (or perhaps a mixture of all these)? Definitely.
  14. Lust told us a few days ago that Black Bathing Suit is an "invite". Now he's saying that it's going to surprise us. And boz also said he's going to be quiet so that we have something to look forward to. Yeah this is going to be a highlight.
  15. @lustforlife Thank you for the hot tea. What you say about this album being the "end of Lana Del Rey" is both exciting and upsetting...But perhaps there's a reason why she told us to listen to Arcadia the way we listened to the song that introduced her... What should we expect from If You Lie Down With Me? I'm getting bluesy/jazz vibes from it!
  16. Lol, is Black Bathing Suit going to be trap?! That would be fun and the interlude before it would make a lot of sense. For some strange reason though I expect it to be the more melodic/more lyrics-heavy trip hop (or super bluesy) sister of Dealer. @lustforlife Is Violet for Roses a ballad? The fact that it plays right before Dealer intrigues me a lot... EDIT: Hey...didn't @lustforlife say that there's orchestra and choir on the album? What if Black Bathing Suit is the song that features these elements and takes us completely by surprise while we're expecting a sultry bop?
  17. I've been trying to decipher how Lana is going to tell her story and this is what I came up with: Text Book, Blue Banisters and Arcadia operate as a form of introduction - a prologue to the story Lana wants to share with us. Text Book is not an accessible or particularly "welcoming" opener - it's lyrically dense and complex, and the overall mood it evokes is quite cerebral. The opening line is perfect: this is really her story and she (finally) feels strong enough to tell it. The closing line implies repetition; a dead end. Blue Banisters is about healing and memories. The ghost of a lover still haunts her because the pain he inflicted on her remains unbearable. But she finds comfort in the company of her family and friends who try to heal her wounds even though they probably fail. But they're always there for her. They "fly to her to paint, paint...". There's something hopeful in the song, but Lana has to live with this pain - it'll never go away. Arcadia is one of her most lyrically subversive songs. What seems like a cheeky allegory and an apparent love letter to California becomes a slyly scathing critique against America and the criticism she's received throughout the years. In a way, these three tracks seem to define her current state of mind: the disappointments of love; the unfair criticism; the search for a safe haven - both literally and figuratively - in the world. @Thunder made some great points about the three-act structure of the album. Dealer is one of Lana's angriest and rawest songs. Thunder is both celebratory and a portrayal of (emotional) stagnancy. Wildflower Wildfire has some of the darkest and most confessional words Lana has ever written, but she finally finds hope. "It's you from whom I learn." This seems to be another critical transitional moment in the album - we finally dive into old UV outtakes. What is their purpose in the narrative? There is a lot of nostalgia in these songs, particularly Nectar of the Gods which ends with Lana feeling lost again. Living Legend and especially Cherry Blossom are sweeter, warmer songs. The fact that the final track, Sweet Carolina, is co-written by the father she "wanted back" (and finally found him) and her sister is very important. I think this will be a very emotional and highly personal ballad. Perhaps nothing has really changed in Lana's life. As Blue Banisters says, this "hole"/pain hasn't been healed and probably never will be. But she's found the support she needs - her father, her siblings, her best friends, her fans, her own self. These are her banisters. So what should we expect from those mysterious tracks in the middle of the album? Black Bathing Suit, Beautiful, Violets for Roses, If You Lie Down With Me...these are very beautiful (pun intended!) and romantic or even sultry/inviting titles. But would such a direction make sense sonically and lyrically? How do we end up with the anger in tracks 9-11? Are these songs about her past? Could the titles be misleading? Is she going to go from something potentially sexy (Black Bathing Suit/If You Lie Down With Me) and pure (Beautiful/Violets for Roses) to something as lyrically dark and angry as Dealer? Could these tracks hold the key to fully understanding Lana's intentions? The fact that insiders avoid talking about these - sure, they want to leave us something to be excited about lol! - makes me think that they may be quite revealing and intense.
  18. And Rick posted the announcement of their collaboration on his IG story so this kinda implies that he may have worked on the song a bit more. Lol, I love how uncertain everything feels when it comes to Lana.
  19. Boz on ATRL (regarding Black Bathing Suit): Yeah this is intriguing. It's either going to be something completely unexpected from Lana or something in the vein of The Trio interlude. It sounds like a potential highlight I suppose. Unless I'm reading this wrong lol.
  20. I think it was Eclipse who said there are some changes in terms of Living Legend's production and lustforlife said that the new version feels more "alive" but the "Lana-as-a-guitar" bridge is the same which is the highlight of the song anyway.
  21. Lana is trolling everyone at this point. First Arcadia was supposed to be a piano ballad; then Rick Nowels has credits on Cherry Blossom; then the album was supposed to be digitally released on October 8 but it'll be released along with physicals on October 22. Even Boz is unsure: have the old tracks been rerecorded/remastered/reworked or not? Lol. Now wait till Nikki Lane sings the chorus of Black Bathing Suit accompanied by a mixture of trap beats, trip hop, metal and Hungarian folk.
  22. Thunder can be a big alt/rock hit if it's pushed as a single. The melody is infectious and iconic. Anyway, I have to say that I am very impressed with Drew Erickson's very rich yet subtle production of Arcadia. I should have expected it because his work on Titanic Rising is gorgeous as well. This makes me even more excited for tracks 5-8. Didn't @lustforlife also tell us that there are choir/orchestra and rock elements in the album? And Chuck saying that Sweet Carolina always makes her cry...I think we're in for a ride. I knew that boz liked the new Thunder version because he tweeted lyrics of the song (and Cherry Blossom's as well) a couple of months ago. So I suppose it's the other 3 outtakes that he really doesn't care for. He said that he's not a fan of Dealer and I suppose Nectar of the Gods lacking a build-up - assuming it hasn't been reworked since 2013 at all - might have irked him too. I'm curious about Living Legend though because apparently that one is the other "old" track which underwent significant changes along with Thunder.
  23. Lol, Spin has finally seen the light! Boz's description of Thunder is very intriguing. And I suppose @lustforlife was right once again?! He did say that it's more experimental and Boz saying that the song has a slow build-up with more and more instruments added as it progresses sounds very exciting. I trust Zach Dawes!
