Boz said that Text Book is "most probably" the longest track or something like that. The way he wrote this is a bit weird though because it kinda implies that he's not entirely sure or that there could be one or two other tracks close to 5 minutes and he can't remember which one is the longest lol. But he could have checked before replying so. Maybe he doesn't have the new tracks - don't forget eclipse's hot tea about BBS - and he's trying to save face. Anyway, leak the production credits!
-
Yeah but the reason why boz didn't like the album was the inclusion of unreleased tracks he didn't care for. He made it quite clear when people asked him that question. I also remember him saying back in late June that Lana added new songs in the album and the majority of the old tracklist was scrapped. One of these new songs was Arcadia and I wonder if all the Lana-Erickson collaborations (pretty much all the new tracks at this point) were added later on. Perhaps insiders have only listened to the main 3 tracks + the official single (Arcadia) + the 5 leaked unreleased tracks and that's why no one can tell us what the 5 new songs sound like.
-
Lol, @111 literally said that nobody has had access to the song. Boz trolled us. I don’t know if you could answer this question but have you gotten the chance to listen to any of the other new tracks? Could you give us a hint about what we should expect? Even something vague would suffice at this point lol. We’re starving.

It's not a surprise that Lana included this song in the new album and, in fact, put it after Wildflower Wildfire and right before Cherry Blossom - all songs share a similar theme about maternal figures / motherly love (or lack thereof).

Your Favourite Song from Each Album's Track-listing Placement

I'm an indecisive bitch so I've put my alternates as well except for tracks 2, 10 and, well, 16, lol. 1. Honeymoon [runner-up: White Dress] 2. Mariners apartment complex 3. Venice bitch / Terrence Loves You (tie) [runner-up: Shades of Cool] 4. God Knows I Tried [runner-up: Brooklyn Baby] 5. West Coast [runner-up: Wild At Heart] 6. Love song [runner-up: Sad Girl] 7. Art Deco [runner-up: Pretty When You Cry] 8. Yosemite [runner-up: How to disappear] 9. California [runner-up: Religion] 10. Old Money 11. The greatest [runner-up: The Blackest Day] 12. Beautiful People, Beautiful Problems [runner-up: Black Beauty] 13. Happiness is a butterfly [runner-up: Swan Song] 14. Hope is a dangerous thing for a woman like me to have - but I have it [runner-up: Heroin] 15. Flipside [runner-up: Change] 16. Get Free This wasn't easy. EDIT: No Blue Banisters tracks until I hear the entire album in sequence etc. -
I mean, with the recent mastering/alterations, I'm pretty sure all her leaked unreleased tracks which supposedly haven't been changed will sound different or at least richer/more enhanced when we listen to the album. Boz told us Arcadia was same-y and basically piano-only so he probably hadn't listened to the final studio version. I'm here for Niko and Topanga's random meow feature on Living Legend.

Black Bathing Suit: Boz said that it's fun to see how excited people are for this track; he'll stay quiet because we have to look forward to something until the album's release. @lustforlife said that the track is an "invite" and will surprise us a lot. Make of it what you will. If You Lie Down With Me: - Beautiful: according to lustforlife, it has surf rock influences. Violets for Roses: according to lustforlife, it's about a toxic relationship, breaking up and healing. Sweet Carolina: again, according to lustforlife, it's a very emotional track, a personal favourite on the album and an even better closer than hope is dangerous thing...).

Okay listening to the four singles with headphones & at full volume is a holy experience. The opening seconds of Text Book are chilling. The creepy bass; the opening line. The tonal change from the somber bluesy verses to the dreamier and more ethereal chorus is sublime. And I adore Erickson's production on Arcadia. It's so rich and detailed yet never really draws attention to itself. Even from the very first seconds of the track...for example that cello in the background when Lana sings "angel" and "halo" sounds like a crying man. It's disturbing yet so impactful. I'm very excited to listen to what Dawes and Erickson have done with the new tracks. Dawes always brings a rockier edge to the songs he produces. I think that the album will be critically acclaimed. I doubt most critics have ever listened to leaked unreleased songs. But even if that's the case, as long as they're not out of place, they will be embraced by them. At least I hope so because Pitchfork's (unprofessional) review of Chemtrails focused on Lana's statements and QFTC instead of the music so you never really know.

I've been thinking about this. Don't forget that Lana said she's deactivating her social accounts "for now". In fact, she repeated that later in her IGTV video. So I wonder if she's taking a "hiatus" until the release of the album in late October and "reinvents" her image in a way. I could also see her team creating new accounts on social media just for the album in order to promote it. I don't know. I hope she's doing well because that blind item scared me. And if she's feeling vulnerable or has succumbed to addiction, then she should take all the time she needs to heal.

I remember Boz saying something like this: "Text Book is most probably the longest track" which seems to indicate that there may be one or two other 5-minute songs on the album. But with the overall length being over 60 minutes and the interlude - assuming what we heard at the end of the Arcadia MV was the entire track - being so short, I suppose the remaining tracks will all be over 4 minutes. But we need some hot tea. Someone should leak the credits of the songs btw. I need to know all the instruments and producers. I'm not a big fan of Lust for Life but that album was far from lazy lol. There is nothing remotely lazy about the four officially released tracks which showcase incredible sophistication, maturity and inventiveness vocally, sonically and lyrically. She's also experimenting with tracks such as The Trio and Dealer. She also seems to have a very clear idea about the way she wants to tell her story with this particular compilation. The album may not be cohesive or work at all but until we get reviews and - most importantly - have the chance to listen to the album ourselves I suggest that you

I adore the title Violets for Roses too! What if Black Bathing Suit turns out to be White Dress' trippier, darker and edgier sister? I have a feeling that If You Lie Down With Me is a new song. Merely based on the fact that the song is separated from the rest of the Barrie songs/UV outtakes which are all placed at the end of the album right before Sweet Carolina. But I'd love a confirmation because the fact that Barrie and Lana may have written a brand new song together fills me with joy.

I think that we will get a MV and some promo as well. She deactivated her social media, yes, but this doesn't mean that she's dropping the project. She said that she's here for the music so another MV/second single accompanying the release of the album will build buzz. And I think we can get a photoshoot as well as a couple of interviews as long as they focus on the album and its content. At least I hope there is a plan because she really seems genuinely proud of the record and the promotion has been unexpectedly strong. Hopefully her decision to lead a more quiet life away from social media will make people pay attention to the actual work. This is what Lana always wanted after all. The more I think about it, the more I feel that this has always been part of the plan. This is her revenge in a way: she's making her most personal album to date, deactivates her accounts as a "fuck you" to the media, and tells her story without filter or certain expectations. The way she dropped the three pre-singles; the way the Arcadia MV culminates into the iconic middle finger part. Everything makes sense now. And given the circumstances, the lyrics of the four officially released tracks become even more revealing - without losing their mystery! - and disturbing. I'm even more excited about the way she's constructed this album and the meaning behind every track.
-
Yeah the timing is just bizarre. She was posting so much these days and she does seem genuinely excited and proud of the new record so this decision to deactivate is shocking.
-
Yeah I just rewatched this and yeah...the way she talks about trust and keeping a closer circle around her...something feels off.
-
Why do I have a feeling that this album is going to emotionally destroy us? When she talked about bringing old collaborators, friends and family to write this album...putting old and new songs on it. It's like with this album she's curated everything that defines her. It feels like a farewell and an epilogue to this 10-year chapter. I don't know how I'm supposed to feel. I'm heartbroken but on the other hand I think she'll feel liberated. Social media can be insufferable and one's mental health should be their top priority. On the other hand, @Arcadia is right. It feels like she's forcing herself to smile. I really hope nothing bad has happened and this is just us overreacting but this video is slightly unsettling. And I can't believe Blue Banisters & Arcadia are playing on Spotify as I'm writing this...

Baez, Presley, Sinatra (both Frank and Nancy, lol), Mitchell are great picks. She also adores Holiday and I don't see her passing the opportunity to cover Springsteen either! -

Why would Ben be excited about Lana's two upcoming projects if one of them is a record that will be released by a new label (Capitol) though? -
