Ok, so the more I listen to this album (almost daily tbh, it's aged very well for me), the more I feel like they should have made Beautiful the opening track. It's not my favorite by far on the album, but the track placement of it hinders it so much for me. Not sure what it is, but the lull of the album for me is Beautiful followed by Violets for Roses, but then I get excited again when Dealer comes on. If Beautiful were the opening, you'd have the twinkly pianos kicking the album off, which is amazing and thematically consistent. The album is heavily piano based, and I like it when her albums begin with a little thematic instrumental in the beginning (Cruel World being a great example). Plus the song itself kind of sums up what the album is about, and why she called it Blue Banisters.

The Bell Jar by Sylvia Plath. Love her writing, but didn't realize how racist she is. It really hits you within the first 10 pages of the book, then kind of reappears throughout as soon as you let your guard down.

Adding to this, I find it very interesting how the theme of color is brought up in the interview. She mentions the colorlessness of her new music, the pics are all in black and white, she notes how she's been told that she thinks in black and white, and as mentioned above she constantly references Honeymoon. Coincidentally, her Honeymoon account profile pic is also black and white.

I get the feeling she's been very inspired by Honeymoon lately. The last post on her main was from the HBTB music video, she returned on her Honeymoon account, she sang God Knows I've Tried in Italy (she did also sing BTD songs, but only with fans, this was the one time we know of where she chose one song to sing of her own accord), and she mentioned Honeymoon several times in the W Mag interview. Not sure what this means/how it relates to her new sound or lyrics, but those are my thoughts.
