I’m obsessed with her new album, I was a fan of all the singles too. I really feel like a lot of artists have been making music more true to themselves in recent years (Demi Lovato, Selena Gomez, etc). This album definitely embodies who she is in comparison to her past music (which are bops but it’s not what she’s super passionate about). Kesha 4everrr !

I agree, it definitely calls out gender roles in society. “Of all the calories they [girls] eat” is a clear example especially for the time it was created. TFJ came out in 2010 which during that time, the 90’s supermodel body was still in. In the 2000’s many women developed eating disorders and suffered in silence and Girls touches on that subtly.

Are there any songs when you hear the first beat you instantly get transported somewhere else if that makes sense. For me, it’s Ride, Video Games, and Born To Die. A lot of her older tracks have this effect and I think it’s because it’s more nostalgic. With time, I bet a lot of her newer songs will be just as iconic- if not more and it hit the same <3
