You listen to singers I listen to artists... There's no artistry involved in picking demos and singing on top of them. You can be the greatest singer out there but if all your music sounds soulless, manufactured and formulated for a hit then your simply put a boring musician.

her too... not a fan either but some of her songs are fun and have a soul especially the slower stuff off of red... even though you can easily tell when her stuff starts to sound structured with a formula to be a radio hit at least she's the one doing it

same... it's why I don't really like a lot of mainstream artists (other than a few songs obviously pop music is fun) but it just seems so unauthentic and manufactured and soulless... the only mainstream artist I can get behind is Mariah Carey and it's cause she writes her stuff and you can tell she does... it isn't just her name smashed between 8 other songwriters in the credits

Hey bud you don't need to apologize lol no westerner does arab vocals well cus it's considered "off key" or "not on pitch" to the western brain who understands music... Here's a few classical favs of mine... most of these have lyrics that were poetry beforehand, maybe Lana could play around with writing words before melodies and that could be her new thing for the record... just like how her knew thing for ocean blvd was automatic singing or something like that. These all live performances that show our vocal stylings, the first one is almost acapella ... the studio versions of the rest are much more epic and theatrical Enjoy!

I'm Arab lol... frozen isnt playing on arabic scales vocally... and madonna and a bunch of other artists during that time were sampling classical tarab (eg erotica and fairuz or jayz and abdulhaliem) not pop music like nancy ajram... But I'm sure Lana would be a fan of majida al roumi or something if introduced to her and she'd def be inspired by it... I see the vision

Her last persona driven record, the theatrics and drama were alive. Music to watch boys to is still one of her best songs and songs like the title track and terrence will always hold a special place in my heart.
